We just got off a 7 day Princess cruise and all I can say is we are coming back! You just don't know how spoiled you are on DCL. Our cruise was fine if I was about 20 years older and didn't have a kid. Now the question is where do I want to go next??

Which Princess ship were you on? I've been on only one Princess ship so far (Coral to Alaska), but will return to Alaska on the Golden Princess in May. I enjoyed Princess, and am considering it for a Europe cruise in 2010.

This is why I'm afraid to try another cruise ship. We went on our first dcl cruise in 2007. I'm afraid another cruise line won't meet our expectations. DCL has tainted us.

i learned my lesson 2 months ago on rccl explorer of the seas. beautiful ship but terrible shows and terrible desserts. with no decent length cruises in 2009 for dcl i decided to try out rccl on a 12 night. 2 good shows out of 12 nights.
it would of been nice if it was better 2 hours away from my house and cheaper prices. i should of done a back to back with dcl

Sure DCL is great (or so I've been told, my cruise isn't until Nov), but come on, never go on anything else again? That's like having driven a BMW you won't buy a Toyota. If your BMW dies on you and you can't afford another one, you can get a good Toyota and like it. I'm sure I will like DCL better than anything else, but if the situation presents itself to go on another cruise line for the right price, I'm sure I would jump at it. To me, any vacation is better than going to work!

We went from a BMW to a Chevy Citation! :lmao: I agree with you.

Frankly - my one Disney cruise wasn't a BMW compared to my other 9 cruises on 3 cruise lines (HAL, RCI, and Princess). The biggest difference with Disney was a LOT more kids plus Disney themes.

I have found other cruise lines including for example Princess have a far far higher average age of cruiser than DCL.

DCL is for families and a younger age group.

I find it nice seeing kids, parents and grandparents all cruising on the same ship, on Princess it seemed there wasn't another person within 30 years of my age,

I think it depends on the individual and their $$$ situation.

We did 2 Wonder sailings and this past Christmas on NCL. The 4-night cruises were a great way to escape life. DCL spoiled us. When we cruised NCL, we kept saying/thinking DCL does it better. Even my family members said that DCL tops to those who asked us (we all wore our DCL t-shirts).

I think if you break down everything dollar wise, it comes out to about even. We spent about the same amout of $$ on NCL as we would have on DCL. We did the NCL as it was a family reunion and my parents paid our way.

However, we liked DCL and are Disney freaks anyway. We are going to start saving for a DCL 7-night in 2011/2012.

It all comes down to what you perfer and your financial situation. Just don't compare apples to oranges.

CCL gives a great military discount if you have served for over six months. You do not have to be retired. Because of that, I would do CCL again, but my DD has said no way - she hated it, and will never do a CCL again. For me, I like a balcony where I can sit out and enjoy the sea air, the quietness and a good book. I can't do that on DCL, as I can't afford a Balcony room. If I never left my balcony I would be happy no matter what cruise I was on.

However, that being said -- if the price was exactly the same, I'd take DCL over CCL anyday it really is a better cruise and a better cruise line.

We did two cruises before we ever did DCL. Carnival in 2000 and RCCL in 2002. Of those two, we liked Carnival much better...the ship was much newer, and more things to do onboard IMO. The RCCL ship was older, and honestly, I have only vague memories of that cruise...it just wasn't that memorable. Maybe I'm kind of biased b/c these cruises were before we had kids.

We did our first DCL in 2005, not knowing what to expect. Taking a 4 yr old...it was a fabulous cruise! And honestly, I really don't see us doing another cruise line until our kids are grown. The ship was sooo much cleaner, the staterooms bigger...the shows much better. I think my only DCL complaint, and it isn't really even a complaint, was the food wasn't quite as good as the other lines...again JMHO.

We can't wait to do DCL again in August!

I would NEVER cruise unless it was DCL !!

My first cruise was Disney, with my mom and daughter. We loved it.:cutie:

A few years later, we planned an all girls (adult girls)cruise. We went with CCL. I was the only girl who had ever cruised, and I kept telling everyone how awesome my Disney cruise was, and about the sail away party and such.

Boarding day I was so pumped for them to see how great cruises were.

WRONG. No announcement upon boarding:snooty:, no party :sad2:, no fun horn:headache:, no castaway cay:scared:, no mickey waffles, no.... well you get it.

I have been on 6 CCL cruises. This May will be my first Disney cruise. I need help with a few thing. What is there to do at night after 10:00 PM. The CCL cruises the have the main show at 8:30 PM and at 10:15 PM or 10:30 PM. Then after that they have the adult comedy show at 12:00 AM. They always have a late night deck party also. Then you have the piano bar and the disco open. Please tell I won't be board late at night!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:
How long is the Pirates in the Caribbean party. We have late seating for dinner and I thought the party started around 9:30 PM. Will we make it in time for the start of the party?:goodvibes

Any experiences with other cruise lines from couples without kids? We're in our early 30's with no children. So far, we've only cruised DCL but we're not ruling out other cruise lines. We can drive to Galveston so taking a cruise from there would save us on airfare. We also want to cruise Alaska in the future too.

Castaway Cay is a big deal to many. However, if your Carnival cruise was ruined because they didn't announce your name when you boarded, didn't have Mickey waffles, and lacked a fun horn - you are wise to cruise only with Disney in the future!

The adult shows don't start until around 10:15 or 10:30 in Rockin' Bar D. They are not to be missed. There is usually a band playing after the show as well.

I am afraid to try anyother cruiselines.
Afraid that I will keep comparing everything to the way Disney does it.

Only Disney can "do Disney." That doesn't mean non-Disney cruise lines/theme parks/hotels are necessarily inferior...just different. However, if you think no cruise line/theme park/hotel can possibly measure up to a Disney-owned one - then you're better off not straying.
We were on the Crown Princess.

Beautiful ship - from what I've read. What didn't you like about that cruise?
