Just back from our first Poly stay in a LVC room! I am sooooooooooo glad I listened to my children - they were begging to stay at the Poly but I could not tear myself away from the GF!! We've stayed there the last 4 times and GF is our favorite! We now love Poly LVC just as much! You really can't compare the 2 resorts - they are both so unique. Really apples and oranges and I mean that in a good way.
We were in 3501 which had the most gorgeous view of the castle!! It looked almost identical to Alohaguy's view in 3505! We were right next to the lounge which was great. It was not noisy at all although since we were also next to the ice machine we heard people a couple of times late at night or first thing in the morning. I was surprised to hear children yelling and running in the halls at midnight! But it wasn't too bad! The room was clean and except for a little peeling wallpaper everything was in good shape! I really don't feel like the furnishings need replaced but it will be a nice bonus! We had to call down for a refrigerator and the CM forgot to give us our leis so DH went down to grab some. I almost forgot, the kids did not know where we were staying till we pulled up to the Poly and when we did there was a man twirling a baton with fire on both ends out in front of the lobby! The kids were so excited to see this!! (Kids also were able to make leis and color in the lobby which they did not have time to do!)
Concierge was also a surprise to my family and they loved it! When we got there they were serving Chicken lo Mein and Spring rolls. We all enjoyed it! The breakfast offerings were great - especially the pineapple bread. It was great to have drinks and coffee whenever we wanted and the kids were loving the cookies. Some of the guest behavior was a little disappointing. A whole family ran upstairs through the lounge, dripping wet from the pool and left puddles all over the floor and about mowed us over. This included the mother!
There were some obnoxious preteens when we were watching WISHES from the lounge which was fabulous since the music was piped in! DH asked them to keep it down and they left after making fun of him! I just wish people would keep better tabs on their kids and go over their manners with them!
We just ignored these ignorant people and had a great time!
The kids loved the Volcano pool especially the slide! We took the boat to the MK about every time which was very convenient! A very easy and pretty walk to the TTC. We didn't realize where the arcade was until the 2nd to last day much to the disappointment of the kids! DH was happy about it though!
We loved Boutiki and got cute Poly tshirts for both kids as well as the Poly pins! Kona Cafe was very good for breakfast and I enjoyed the Tonga Toast! I had heard it was very sweet which was perfect for me! Captain Cooks was good for burgers and chicken strips, etc. Just ate there once. We had to cancel our Ohana ressie because we weren't going to make it back in time but we are hoping to try it next spring! We planned this trip last minute and were grateful that the Concierge CM's were able to get us the 2 ADR's! By the way , CM's were very nice and the kids loved saying Aloha to them! They gave us a late check out which really helped! I don't think Hawaii was very full.
We had a wonderful stay! The parks were pretty empty in the A.M. which was great! We would swim in the afternoon and go back to the parks at night ! It wasn't too humid and hot because the afternoon showers would cool things off. We live up the coast a few hours so we're used to it, but it was nice that it was a little cooler than we expected!
I know there are alot of Poly returnees lately but I'll be glad to answer any questions! We will be staying GF Main Building in December which were are anxiously awaiting !! We have already decided to spend Spring Break at the Poly LVC again! If you are staying at the Poly for the first time like we did - not just Concierge - you have picked a fabulous resort !!!
