We are at Aulani!

Thanks for the thread boiseflyfisher! We are going to Aulani as well and can't read enough about it. Thanks so much for the info you have already shared. It really helps so much and is great fun to read along with! Please let us know what you think of the room/view.

Enjoy the rest of your trip, can't wait to hear more! :thumbsup2

I'll be there on Thursday of week. I was just checking a few things. I know you are watching you cals this week, but I was wondering if it is really true that the refillable mugs are 32.99. I ususally buy a mug in disney world becasue the price has been about 14.00 each and that a good gift for home. but 33 buck each is not worth it. Especially when doesn't pay zip for the coke soda product at all. I think we will bring our own mugs and soda to fill them.

Thanks

I believe that was the original price, but they are now $18.99 plus tax. We are here for 8 nights, so we bought them and have used them a lot. It is nice to run down to the gift shop in the morning and fill up on coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. They do have cold water around the pool area for free and we use our refillable mugs to fill up there, too.

You will be here in time to catch the Starlit Hui on Thursday night! It was a rainy day here today, so we decided to wait until Thursday night to see it.

Following this thread with baited breath, we'll be there in a studio in June!:cool1:

Enjoy your trip and thanks SO much for the reports!!

What is the Starlit Hui ? Thanks

The website says:

This evening celebration blends traditional Hawaiian and modern entertainment, including hula performers, cherished Disney Characters and delightful surprises—all in a beautiful beachfront setting!

Maybe someone who has already been to it can add more details. From what I have read, it is worth seeing.

The Starlit Hui is a wonderfully produced show....it is like a Luau without the food and without the "glamour". We saw it three times when we were there. It is SO well done....and having the Disney Characters come out afterwards was just extra fun for those with kids. Sitting on the woven mats also contributed towards the Charm. On movie night, me and DH took our pillows and towels down to the grass and snuggled and watched a movie.

Here is a tip for adults only....do not bring along young children, it can be dangerous. If you walk along the beaches up to Paradise Cove....and be careful, you need hard bottomed water shoes for this, you may come across a cove that shelters some turtles. We saw some awesome sights and some really beautiful fish....but the cove was VERY dangerous. Nothing is safe there and you need to know what you are doing....I got a bad infection from some coral. And I was careful!! Again, do not bring children. We also saw some mongoose and some black crabs crawling thru rocks. Interesting.

So glad you love it like we did!!! Can you PLEASE look and see what kind of mattress and pillows are used on the bed? Foam mattress? Brand? We never slept better, and I forgot to check it out before we left! Thank you so much!!!

How do the armbands work? Are they free to registered guests? Can registered guests get an additional band for one day for a friend who is visiting?
Thanks!

You bought your snorkel gear at Target did they have beach umbrellas? Could you bring your own to the beach each day or do you think it would be too much of a pain? (we have a little one so we need the shade)

No they are for registered guests only. They a computer there and check you off the list when you get one.

Have your kids done any of the autie's paid activities? They look fun. We are wondering if they are worth it and if we need to book in advance. Thx!

The other poster is correct, they are for registered guests only. The only way a friend who is visiting would get one is if you added them to your registration.

The pillows say Downlite/hospitality division (downline.com).

The mattress is Posturepedic Monogram Series 600, Plush Euro Pillowtop.

I agree, it is a very comfortable sleep!

The beaches are all public on Hawaii, so you can bring your own beach umbrella. For the rental price per day and the time of year you are visiting, it might be smart to buy your own and just give it away when you leave. It isn't far from the rooms to the beach, so it wouldn't be too much of pain considering you need the shade.

Sorry, I can't help you with this one as we haven't done any of the paid activities. Depending on the time of year you are here, you will probably want to book in advance if there is something that you consider a can't miss.
