I can't believe how many people find it a hassle to move. We love to move and experience different locations. We stay with DVC, we just down grade to a studio for Friday and Saturday. As long as you stay with DVC, all you have to do is put everything in a suitcase and Disney takes care of moving your stuff. You just leave everything in your room and contact bell services and they will take care of it. We usually go to a park for the day and then return to our new home.

Unless I had infants/todddlers, I wouldn't do it any other way. My husband and I are both extremely analytical and no matter how you look at it, the weekend points for a 1 and 2 bedroom are not worth it to us. Two more days of vacationing is worth a lot more to us then not having to move.

It is your personal preference. Buy the points that you can afford or the amount that you think is worth the investment and do with them as you please.

While at WDW, we usually try and stick to one resort... With two small kids, packing up and moving can be kinda tough...

That being said though, we did move twice last year, and are planning on switching resorts this year as well...

I do like the idea of experiencing the different resorts.. We did AKL last year and loved it, and now this year we are going to try the CB...

We've never done the switheroo thing before, but this trip, it looks like we'll make up for lost time -- we'll stay 1 night @ BCV, then 8 over at BWV, then over to SSR for 4 more. We're not doing it necessarily to economize on pts -- well, maybe we are. We would have stayed at BCV for 9 nights, but darn it, when you can get a 2br on std view at BWV, the pts aren't worth it! We're staying at BCV (or so we say) for the one night to make a direct comparison, determine if it is in fact ever worth the pts to us, try out SAB, etc. We're staying there on cash (a Sat night). The SSR trip is just something fun for our family to try (our guests will have left -- thought a change of scenery would perk up my kids!)

lI am glad to hear that moving isn't a big deal... hope that holds true for us! We never would have tried this when our kids were infants (but then, I don't think we ever stayed for 2 weeks when they were infants, either!) Having kids that don't absolutely need that afternoon nap makes a room change much more viable!

i agree with you....though we have found that with the kids its now better for us to stay in one place. We take a lot more food these days too...which makes moving more difficult.

Our next "moving around" visit will be without the kids....in 5 or 6 years!

We've probably overdone it with moving....once staying at 4 resorts in 6 nights, though usually only staying in 2-3 places per trip. It wasn't much of a problem for us until recently....and bringing food is the major hassle for us.

No one should feel inadequate because they move on the weekends. I have enough points to cover the weekends but it just hurts my feelings to know that I could stay 5 nights in a studio for what it costs for Friday night.
WDW does make it more convenient if you do move by delivering your luggage.

I do like to get settled in, so I will stay put for at least 5 nights before moving, unless we have a really late arrival, then I would not mind staying somewhere that night.

I own at BCV and since they don't allow pool hopping at SAB, I could see ourselves staying resort days at BCV and then moving to another DVC we would like to try.

The way I look at it is once your airfare is covered, with DVC you have the whole "World" in your hands, so it is nice to be able to experience the different Resorts and locations.

I don't mind it at the beginning of the trip, but I don't like it at the end. I've stayed one night at ASSports, then several at BCV. Last year I started with 1 night at BWV, then 5 at BCV. Really enjoyed it both times. However, when I've done 5 nights at HH in a 1 BR, then moved for the last night to a studio, it was much more of a hassle. In May, we're doing 5 nights at OKW in a 1 BR, then the last night in a studio. It seems that there's so much stuff we've accumulated that it's a pain to move, wish we could afford more points.

We don't really move to save points, I just miss some of the resorts. We usually arrive on a Thursday and stay at a deluxe for Thu, Fri, and Sat. Then we move to our DVC home we stay Sunday thru Sunday. Our next trip will be the Poly then off to BCV. Only 36 more days!!!:D

We always move as well - also gives us variety - we change room types as well or sometimes move to a cash ressie at another WDW property

thanks

We've never moved before but this trip we are staying at BWV for 4 nights then "moving":smooth: to HH for 6 more nights. LOL
Instead of moving during our stay we usually do a cash night for the Saturday night and stay in the same spot. The funny thing is that this year, our cash night at BWV for Saturday night in a studio is about $325 and our cash night at HH for Saturday night in a 2BR is about $330!! Still works for us!

We like to move also, not because of hassles, but we miss staying at teh Polynesian and Grand FLoridian and while the rooms are only hotel rooms, the ambiance is something we miss.
And since the cash price for the deluxe resorts is the same on the weekend as it is during the week, we stay at Deluxe on Fri and Sat enjoying the resort and the grounds, and then we go home!

Umm... ok, I do have a question. Bell Services 'just takes care of it'. Does this include if you are moving from one resort to another? Or if just within different types of room in a resort (1br to studio) I personally don't think it's worth the time wasted to go from a 1br to a studio in the same resort. I'd rather be spending that time doing something enjoyable, not having to pack/unpack.

Ah now here's the thing, we're usually there for not more than 1 full week, so it's usually only one or maybe two days on the higher weekend schedule.

Yup. Sure is. :)

We love to move around also even with 3 kids Disney makes it really easy to move and we just go buy what we will need for a week then we go and get more on the Sunday for the next week. Our kids have no problem with the move and Disney takes care of all the hard stuff like dragging luggage all over the place it also lets us and our kids experiance different resorts every trip. Mark RG Bell services picks up your luggage from your room and then have it taken to the new resort and eitehr left at bell services there or put into your new room so it is there waiting for you. We always drive down so we just go to the new resort in the morning check in then go shopping or to the park and when we return our stuff is there waiting for us.

Yep, they do from resort to resort...cold/frozen itms should be separated, so they can be stored properly. Tell Bell Services which resort you're going to, and they bring it all to Bell services there. When you arrive at the new resort..check in, and Bell Services brings up your bags...Easy as can be.:D

I've also discovered that I always overpack...and this last trip we finally only took carryons, with enough clothes for two days, plus a warm "outfit"...less to pack/repack, and makes moving so much more efficient...:D

And others can't believe how willing people are to spend vacation time moving. It's everyone's choice, and there's no right or wrong here.

I'm kind of reacting to the "I can't believe..." phrase, which is kind of inflammatory, IMHO. Personally, we don't like to move, but I have no problem with those who wish to do so for whatever reason.

Amen. Amen. ::yes::

Unfortunately, it is isn't too terribly long after the kids quit needing the nap that Mom and Dad do start needing the nap. So, enjoy your afternoons while you can. :rotfl:

If we stay longer than a week we often stay at two resorts because we enjoy the varied themes WDW offers.

I am not sure what the hassle is in moving, bell services does the work -- we just show up :)

Well, we usually stay at a DVC resort Sunday to Friday and then move to another resort or outside of WDW.

However, we have been planning this summer vacation for awhile. We banked last years, using this years and borrowing next years to do 17 nights in a two bedroom at BWV. We wanted settle in one spot for awhile and enjoy a long vacation with the family.

This vacation is going to be the best!!

We are still DVC "newbies" -- our first REAAAAL trip home will be this August. Our initial stay was to be Sunday thur Thursday, but we decided to add a day on the front end (airline restrictions prohibited us from leaving on Friday). So I call up MS and added a Saturday night on the front end (1 bedroom, BWV)... and the extra charge was *51* points YEOOW. I later called back and got a studio and OKW ::whew::

Assuming we acquire more points as the years roll by, we may handle Fri/Sat different in the future -- but for now... whew, stuuudio.

We will be heading down friday for our first trip to DVC and will be staying offsite friday and saturday, then checking in to OKW from Sunday-Friday. Since we aren't using up all our points on the weekends, this way we still have enough points to stay 5 nights Sunday-Friday in December also.

This is how we usually do it:
We arrive on Friday or Saturday and stay in a moderate or deluxe(depending on discounts etc) until Monday AM, when we pack up and let Bell Services move us to whatever DVC resort we are going to finish the week out in. We then stay in the DVC resort till Friday, when we check out. Then we never pay the higher weekend points, and we get to enjoy 2 different resorts, which I love!!!!! Moving isn't a hassle for us, no kids, and we aren't quite old enough yet to need an afternoon nap ourselves!!LOL!! I like finishing the vacation at the DVC resort, because then I know I will have the use of the washer/dryer for the end of the trip, so I can pack accordingly.
