I was very worried about leaving my kids while at Disney but after doing a lot of reading and researching on the Fairy Godmothers, we decided to go out without the kids.
This past April, we paid $12/hour for our 2 kids (DD 7, DS2). We also paid a $12 travel fee and gave her a tip. I did feel it was a little expensive but really worth it.
An older lady called us the day before she was to come. She introduced herself, asked questions about the kids, and talked with us about our plans. When she came to our room the next night, she came loaded with a VCR, Disney movies, coloring sheets, games, treats for the kids to keep and snacks (which she discussed with us during the phone call the day before). She also presented us with a card showing us all her information and information on the Fairy Godmothers (license/bonding information, etc.)
My DD loved having the fairy godmother come (DS fell asleep about 1 hour after she came - we did not go out until 6:30 and the kids were pretty tired from a full day at the parks).
We would do this again. It was very nice to get out and I felt comfortable with our decision.
