We All Want a Jar of Hunny!~A Nov. 2010 TR! *NEW October PTR 4/4, pg 42!!!*

I wasn't expecting Tiramisu in a cup...

11/15 Day 4 Part 3!

Hello again! When I left you on my last update, we were leaving Epcot and going back to POR for our afternoon break. We didn't have much time, it was already around 3 and we had to be at DHS for our 5:25 dinner ADR! So we rested for a little while and then went back out for another night in the parks! I was really looking forward to this night, I LOVE evening magic hours at DHS, there are certain things that just HAVE to be done during EMH! Let's see if things go as planned...:rolleyes1

We got to DHS and I realized we were cutting it pretty close to ADR time, but I stopped to take a picture of the tree anyway

IMG_1817.jpg

and then went through the bag check line. There is something about the bag check that annoys me at DHS more than the other parks...it just seems so chaotic, there is always a mob of people trying to get through like, 2 little lines, then there are the people that have bags within their bags that they have to take out and get checked...I was kind of in a hurry, because I didn't want to be late!

We finally made it through the bag check and went into my beautiful DHS...and my mind went blank!

"I have no idea where Mama Melrose's is, do you?" I asked Brandon. No, of course he doesn't know! He's only been to WDW 4 times in the last 3 years, and we have eaten here before, and we even walked by it the night before, but he can't remember where it is either! Ughhhh!!! :rotfl: There is something about us having an ADR for Mama Melrose that we just cannot be on time for...we were late our first time eating there in November 09 and it looked like we would be late again!

I said we should just go in the direction of the Muppet movie and hope we find it, and luckily that worked, we finally found it! I love DHS, but sometimes it's so confusing in the back area!

IMG_1827.jpg

Our ADR was for 5:25, and we checked in at I think 5:30...and the hostess couldn't find us! OMG...was this going to be one of those nightmare ADR situations I've read about on the DIS? I was all ready to get out my confirmation number, when she found our ADR..."oh, we almost erased you guys, since you're late". What? I thought you could arrive at ADR's 20 minutes late and still be ok...we were 5 minutes late and they were ready to erase us? Strange.

We were seated pretty quickly, I was expecting a really long wait since we were late but it was only about 5 minutes, which was nice! Our waitress came over and we immediately ordered drinks, after getting stressed about making it to this ADR, I needed a drink!

I ordered a glass of white sangria and Brandon had some powerberry drink,

IMG_1822.jpg

and we tried not to fill up on the bread while waiting for our dinners, OMG I love that bread!

For dinner, I had chicken parm (of course, I can't seem to pass up chicken parm when it's on a menu!) and Brandon had chicken pipette...I think it was originally supposed to be with shrimp but he asked if he could have chicken instead! I don't have pics of our dinner, sorry...but I did take pics of the 2nd round of drinks that we got...

IMG_1823.jpg

Sorry that they are pretty much finished! Mine was a godiva chocolate martini, which is probably one of the best drinks in WDW, I know you can get a chocolate martini at most restaurants, but they are never as good as WDW's! And you can see that Brandon switched from his weird powerberry drink to beer, I don't think he liked his first drink very much!

When we were finished eating, I of course ordered dessert, it was one of the things I was looking forward to the most about eating at Mama Melrose's! I love tiramisu, I remember having it the year before, and I never have it anywhere else other than Disney, so I couldn't wait to get it again...and was so disappointed with what they gave me!

IMG_1825.jpg

It's pretty isn't it? They apparently have changed the tiramisu and it's basically now just ice cream in a cup with a lady finger and coffee poured over it. It was good...but not what I was expecting. I was kind of sad about the change, everyone on the DIS is always talking about how restaurants at WDW are going downhill and they're trying to save money and do things cheaply and this is the first time I ever noticed it.

Brandon got chocolate cannoli cake

IMG_1824.jpg

which he liked, because he's obsessed with anything cannoli flavored, but he didn't really want it because he was full, I kind of forced him to get it!

While we were waiting for our check, I was looking at all the cute light fixtures they have around the restaurant, everything is so pretty and unique! I wanted to take this one home!

IMG_1826.jpg

We paid our check and left Mama Melrose's, and started heading towards our next destination of the night!

On the way I saw this

IMG_1828.jpg

which I thought was so cute! It just added something a little extra to the Christmas spirit in the park!

Up next...more of one of my DHS favorites!

great update!! We liked Mama Melrose too! It was one of the restaurants my parents took us to when we were little and it was a disaster meal and they never went back. We did go back 2 years ago and loved it! We debated it on this trip and decided on WCC which we also haven't been to in several years for dinner and that worked out too!

that is the longest piece of chocolate I have ever seen emerging for the top of a piece of cake. Wow - very pretty. I wouldn't want to disrupt it.

chocolate godiva martini - must try one of those. Yum!

Glad that didn't erase you from your ADR. 5 mins late pffffft. that's just silly.

Can't wait to see you light pictures!

Thanks! Mama Melrose's is great, but I'm just not happy about the dessert changes! :rotfl: I hope they go back to regular tiramisu...or I suppose I could try something else!

I love WCC too...oh, I feel like I'm gonna miss the WL staying at AKL this year!

LOL, isn't that cake so pretty! I always feel weird eating pretty desserts...especially the chocolate moose at LC. It's so cute, like a little friend on your plate...and then you have to eat him! :rotfl:

The chocolate martini is SO good! Definitely try one!

I can't believe they said they almost erased us-I wonder what happens to people's ADR's if they are late during peak seasons!

First off, awesome on getting AKL at 40% off for the week you wanted! :cool1: Maybe you'll get upgraded to a partial savanna view or something? Either way, take advantage of being there and of all the yummy places to eat! We loved it there last June! :lovestruc

We had the same kind-of thing happen with our San Angel Inn ADR this past trip. 5 minutes late and they were not happy about it! :confused3

Nice to hear about Mama Melrose (that was one of the ADRs we had made, but dropped, this past trip). Bummer that the dessert wasn't what you remembered! The cannoli cake looks good, though! :thumbsup2

Hope the rest of the evening goes well!

You know in all of the times that I have been there I cannot picture Mama Melrose at all :rotfl: DHS can be very confusing, especially the back areas

All caught up!:woohoo: Yay on having a new trip in the works, so glad you get to go for F & W again and also for MNSSHP. You and Brandon will love it. Oh, and at the AKL. I highly recommend the savanna view, so nice to wake up to the animals, and the pool area is beautiful:thumbsup2.

Wishes dessert party looked yummy, and what a great view of the castle.

I loved the pic with baby simba. You and Brandon look so cute with the little feline!

Boo on not seeing FoTLK. FoW just doesn't compare, I so hope you made it to it later in the week!

:rotfl2:So funny about having to make a decision at Karmelkutche. Looks like the chosen treat was yummy!

So no more Astro-orbiter for you ,huh? Glad you survived the spinning!:goodvibes

Mama Melrose's sounds so good. I love Chicken Parmesan myself. You are giving me some ideas for me and hubby's March trip!

I can definitely see how it would be hard to find Mama Melrose's, especially when under the pressure of making an ADR. It's one of those places that we always seem to find when we're not looking for it.

I hate thinking I am going to be late for ADR's. It's that feeling of knowing that you've had this planned for 6 months, and only a few minutes could mean that you lose the reservation! It's so stressful! :sad2:

That is so true what you said about the bag check at DHS. I've always wondered why the other parks have so many bag lines, and lanes at the entrance for cars. At DHS, there's only 2 of each. :confused3

OK I am back and all caught up. Congratulations on booking your upcoming trip! You will overlap with me by one day, we are there from October 8-15.

Boo to the deconstructed tiramisu. I hope they rethink that decision. I have not eaten at Mama Melrose in years so I think I may need to make a stop there in the near future.

Hello.. I'm joining in!

All I can say is wow you guys hit a lot of parks in one day:headache: my kids would kill me if I tried to do that to them

We are still trying to decide when to go this year but it will more than likely be for MNSSHP

How did you find out you had a pin?

Great update! I've never tried Mama Melrose, and I can honestly say I don't remember ever even seeing it in the park, but I've always wanted to go there!

I can't believe they were going to bump you after 5 minutes! It seems like they would be a little more understanding.

Sorry to hear about your disappointing dessert! I was really disappointed when we had breakfast at Crystal Palace because I had heard everyone talking about the amazing strawberry soup, and it was nowhere to be found! :confused3

Thanks, I can't WAIT to be at AKL! It would be nice to get upgraded to a savanna room, but if not, I'll be ok with the pool view, it's so pretty there that it really doesn't matter! I can't wait to eat there, I know I'm doing Boma again, and I'm considering Jiko also!

That's so weird that some places are so strict about ADR times, I read all the time on the DIS people saying they are 30 minutes later or more to their ADR's and they still get in! :confused3 Oh well, next time I will to know to leave really early for DHS!

Mama Melrose is really good! I wish DHS had more restaurant options though, I'm thinking the next trip we might just skip TS restaurants there all together and eat at Pizza Planet! :rotfl: I've always wanted to try that place!

You know in all of the times that I have been there I cannot picture Mama Melrose at all :rotfl: DHS can be very confusing, especially the back areas

LOL, oh good, I'm glad it's not just me who gets a little confused in DHS! It just seems like Mama Melrose is back in some dark corner of the park, it's weird! :lmao:

Hey, welcome back! :wave2: Thanks, I'm so excited about my new trip! I was hoping for later in October, but for some reason the middle 2 weeks of October are blocked with the pin I used, and I definitely do not want to go the week leading up to Halloween, but it should be fun! I was going to do a savanna room, but it's soooo much more expensive! I'd rather just have that money as spending money at the parks. :thumbsup2 Maybe we will get an awesome upgrade or something!

Ugh, I'm not happy with that baby Simba pic...I need a do over on my next trip! :rotfl: Simba is really cute, though! And I can't believe we didn't see FOTLK and watched that silly bird show...it's cute, but I'm sick of it! If Brandon wants to see it on our next trip, he can just do it himself!

LOL definitely no more Astro Orbiter! Ugh!

If you like chicken parm, you will like Mama Melrose, it's very good there! It's a cute little restaurant, I love all the lights they have inside!

I can definitely see how it would be hard to find Mama Melrose's, especially when under the pressure of making an ADR. It's one of those places that we always seem to find when we're not looking for it.

You know what is annoying about that...we were just at DHS the night before and as we were leaving the Osborne lights, we walked by Mama Melrose and I said to Brandon "oh, there's where we are eating tomorrow, don't forget where it is"...because the previous year, we ran around DHS looking for it as well! :rotfl: Next time I have an ADR there, I'm going to get to DHS an hour early, just to give myself time to find the place!

:confused3

I hate being late for anything! Usually I try to have us check in to ADR's at least 15 minutes early, but there is something about Mama Melrose that we just can't be on time for! :confused3 I wonder if people ever do lose their reservations from being late?

Ugh the bag check at DHS is SO annoying! And there's no way I can skip it, I have to carry a purse with me. At least Brandon sometimes gets to just walk right in if he doesn't have his backpack with him, but it's not like it saves him any time because he's still stuck waiting for me! And I always wonder about the 2 car lane entrance during the busy times...lines must get really long during the summer to park!:scared1:

OK I am back and all caught up. Congratulations on booking your upcoming trip! You will overlap with me by one day, we are there from October 8-15.

Hey! Thanks, I'm so excited about my trip! I was hoping to go the week you are going, or the week after, but the pin was blacked out for those weeks...I wonder why? :confused3

I hope they change the tiramisu back, but something tells me they won't, I doubt a lot of people complain about desserts! :rotfl:

Hello.. I'm joining in!

All I can say is wow you guys hit a lot of parks in one day:headache: my kids would kill me if I tried to do that to them

We are still trying to decide when to go this year but it will more than likely be for MNSSHP

How did you find out you had a pin?

Hi, welcome! :welcome:

LOL yeah, I kind of overplanned for the first few days of our trip...but I had to squeeze in Epcot since it was the end of the Food and Wine fest and then I didn't want to miss EMH at the other parks...it was exhausting, I don't think I'll plan like that again!

I kept reading on the discount and codes boards on the DIS that people were calling to ask if they had pins attached to their names, and most of them did, and they were great pins, 40% off deluxes and 35% off mods and values! So I finally called one night and they told me I had a pin, but they said it was in my DH's name and my mom's name...so I had my DH call and ask if he had one and they said yes, and if I could book the trip using it (because he's clueless :rotfl: I'm surprised he called at all!) and they told him it was under all 3 of our names, so any of us could use it! So I called the next day and booked AKL with 40% off. :woohoo:

The only thing is, the pin has the middle 2 weeks of October blocked, which is annoying because I was really hoping to go the 3rd week. I definitely do not want to go the week before Halloween, I think that week is getting pretty crowded, so hopefully the first week will be ok! I think it will crowd-wise, but I'm worried about it being hot!

You should just call Disney and ask if you have a pin attached to your name, it seems like most people do! The pin I have is good from 8/21-10/8, if that helps, since you were thinking of going for MNSSHP! :thumbsup2

Great update! I've never tried Mama Melrose, and I can honestly say I don't remember ever even seeing it in the park, but I've always wanted to go there!

Sorry to hear about your disappointing dessert! I was really disappointed when we had breakfast at Crystal Palace because I had heard everyone talking about the amazing strawberry soup, and it was nowhere to be found! :confused3

Thanks! There are so many people who have never seen Mama Melrose, I don't feel so silly now, not knowing my way around DHS! :rotfl: I know how to get to ToT no problem, but like I said, the back area confuses me! I just saw Pizza Planet for the first time on this trip!

I can't believe it either! I guess they have to be like that in the smaller restaurants, since they have such limited seating, but really, 5 minutes? I'm just glad we got in, I probably would have cried if we didn't! I had that ADR for 6 months, it was still in my maiden name that's how long I had it! :rotfl:

I didn't know they had strawberry soup at CP! I have only heard of that being at one of the places at GF, 1900 Park Fare I think? I'm sorry they didn't have it when you were there, it's annoying when you are looking forward to something and they end up not having it! :goodvibes

Mmm, Mama Melrose's. Gotta love Italian food. :thumbsup2

Love Mama Melrose. Until the first time we ate there, I never knew it existed and had never seen it. We've been about four times now and always enjoyed our meals there. I think we are due to go back.

Mama Melrose is so good! Although, I could eat chicken parm every single day of my life and not get bored with it, so I'm not the best restaurant critic! :rotfl:

I will be back in a little while to update my TR! :)

NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY!!!

Day 4 11/15 Part 4!

Hi again everyone! So excited for the huge snow storm that is supposed to hit CT tomorrow! We're supposed to get between 10-20 inches, so I'm hoping for a snow day tomorrow, it will be fun to be snowed in for once! :woohoo:

Well let's see, where did we leave off? Brandon and I just finished our dinner at Mama Melrose, and we were ready to see the Osborne Lights again! Yes, we just saw them the night before, but our time was limited since we went to MK that night, tonight we had a decent amount of time because it was evening magic hours!

We found the lights and of course, I was amazed by them again! I LOVE the Osborne lights! I love the "snow", the Christmas music that they play...everything! I'm sure I mentioned all of that in my previous Osborne Light update, but I can't help it...love them!

I took lots of pictures, and tried to focus more on the details this night, instead of just taking random pics like the night before. I'm pretty happy with the pics I got!

LOVE this one!

So cute!

IMG_1851.jpg

Had to take my picture with the snowman in the phone booth...too bad it's so dark!

IMG_1860.jpg

We then decided to wait to get a photopass pic...which had a HUGE line! I was hoping the picture would turn out good after we waited at least 30 minutes just to get our picture taken, but I'm not really happy with it...

Photo0036FourBySix.jpg

It's alright, but I feel like we were rushed and barely got to relax before they were calling the next people up! Oh well!

Once we were finished seeing the lights (well I should say, once I was finished, since Brandon can look at them for 10 minutes and be finished!) and I said goodbye to them, we moved on to do our first attraction of the night. This would be our last time seeing the lights this vacation, since we had no other DHS nights planned, so it was a little sad. Especially since I had a feeling we wouldn't be coming back next year for Christmas, since I was hoping to come earlier in the fall for Halloween.

I was finally able to walk away, and we went towards the front of the park. I think we stopped for a bathroom break, and when we were finished, Brandon said "do you want to do that silly ride?" He was pointing to

IMG_1865.jpg

The Great Movie ride! I love the Great Movie ride, but I wasn't really in the mood for it..I wanted to get to Tower of Terror and Rock N Roller Coaster and ride them as many times as possible before the park closed, which is our tradition on magic hour nights...but whatever, we still had time, so we went inside!

There was a wait, which was surprising, normally it's a walk on, but it was only about 15 minutes or so. We got into our car, or whatever those vehicles are called in that ride, and were off into the wonderful world of movies.

Soon it was time for the gangster interaction and the car jacking (don't know what else to call it!) and I was losing interest...I always get the gangster scene and would love to see the cowboy! I know I have once, but I think that's it. Anyway, I was barely paying attention once we got to the part where the gangster leaves the car to go get the jewel...but I noticed as he got out of the car, he came right over to where I was sitting, maybe 2 rows behind me, and screamed, right in someone's face "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY"!!! And then he proceeded to go up the stairs and finish out the scene...it was so funny, everyone laughed...but if I got yelled at like that in front of everyone, I would have probably cried! I'll never take pictures on a ride with a flash again! :rotfl:

Once the ride was over, we made a quick detour to Pixar Place to check the wait time for TSM...50 minutes! Ughhhhh!! Seems like we will never get to ride TSM on this trip!

I stopped to take a quick picture, I think the wreaths are really pretty, simple but Christmasy:

IMG_1870.jpg

and we were FINALLY ready to go to ToT and RnRC! I had been waiting for this night since our Disneymoon in May, like I said, this is our tradition on EMH nights at DHS...ride ToT and RnRC over and over until we are basically kicked out!

Up next...do I actually get to ride ToT over and over...or does something go wrong? Stay tuned! :)
