We All Want a Jar of Hunny!~A Nov. 2010 TR! *NEW October PTR 4/4, pg 42!!!*

Yay! I love your pics of the lights! I enjoyed those so much, and your pictures take me back! :cloud9: You're right, the lights, music, and snow just make the entire scene perfect!

Okay, this is how limited my WDW knowledge is: I didn't even know they had a cowboy scene instead of a gangster scene sometimes on The Great Movie Ride! I have only ridden it three times, but every single time has been the gangster scene! Now I'm determined to see the cowboy!

I can't believe that person got yelled at! I always have second hand embarassment for people on the safari at AK who get yelled at for standing up. I can see both sides, because I know the CMs just want to keep people safe, but I also know the people are standing up because they are SO excited to see these wild animals. I feel bad for them. :confused3

I can't wait for your next update! I was looking forward to a day of DISing tomorrow, but we have Saturday school to make up a snow day, and I have to chaperone the semi formal dance tomorrow night! It's gonna be a loooong day!

Thanks! It's too bad they couldn't have the lights on year round! :rotfl: Just turn them on once a week or something, for the crazy people like me who want it to be Christmas all the time! I guess that would be kind of hard to maintain, though.

I guess the cowboy scene in GMR is rare now, but I know I've seen it! I think I saw it in 2008 on my first trip with Brandon, but ever since we've seen the gangster. I think I've read on the DIS that you can ask to see the cowboy scene and they will let you wait for it. :yay:

LOL I've never seen anyone get yelled at on the safari, that must be terrible! I get embarrassed for people too, I felt really bad for that person who got yelled at, I think I even said to Brandon "ugh, that's embarrassing" while I sunk down into my seat...I don't know why I thought he was going to come back, single me out, and yell at me for nothing, but I did! :rotfl: I was glad when our tour guide saved us and took over the vehicle again!

I'm going to start my next update now, I'm hoping I get through it before Brandon wakes up, we have a lot to do today, it's supposed to snow again tonight and we haven't even finished the shoveling from the big storm we got on Tuesday!

You are now entering...The Twilight Zone

Day 4, 11/15, Part 5

Take Two! Hopefully I can get through this update today without erasing the whole thing again! I'm looking forward to finishing up Day 4 and moving on to the next day!

So Brandon and I did the Great Movie Ride, checked TSM and decided not to wait 50 minutes for it, and started walking towards the Tower of Terror to begin our ritual of riding ToT and RnRC until the park closed! This was the part of the night I was most excited about, I love doing this!

There it is!

IMG_1873.jpg

I was so happy, I was practically running down the street! However, before we went to ToT, we figured with how long the lines are at RnRC, we should stop there first and get some FP's for later...

IMG_1880.jpg

But the FP machines were closed! Ughh!! So since it was a 30 minute wait, we figured why not, just ride it now!

It didn't seem like it took 30 minutes, because soon we were in the back alley waiting to get into our super stretch limo!

IMG_1876.jpg

We waited for the front of the limo, as always! It might take a few minutes longer to ride, but it's so worth it! Soon we were zipping through the streets of LA and made it to the Aerosmith concert! OMG I love that ride! My only complaint about it is I wish it could be a little longer!

Once we were finished, we went over to ToT

IMG_1879.jpg

and noticed it had a ridiculous wait time! Strange for an EMH night, it's always like, a 5-10 minute wait! Of course, I didn't write in my notes how long the wait time actually was, all I put was "wait was too long"! And then Brandon started saying he didn't feel good...uh oh!

I suggested we walk around in the shops for a little while, but his stomach started really bothering him, so he wanted to sit. So we found a bench and sat for a few minutes, and I tried to keep myself busy with the camera because I can't sit for long in Disney and not do something!

IMG_1882.jpg

Eventually, Brandon said he wanted to go find a bathroom and just stay close, just in case...lovely. So I decided to walk around the shops by myself and look at all the Disney stuff I wanted to buy!

I found a really cute shirt that I wanted

IMG_1885.jpg

And I admired all of the Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise (LOVE that movie!)

IMG_1887.jpg

WHY didn't I buy one of those Jack Skellington mugs???? Ughhhh!!!

And I waited for a text from Brandon, telling me when and where to meet him. Finally I heard from him, he said he was in front of ToT and I said I'd be right there. I walked over, only to find the wait still too long, and to have Brandon tell me there's no way he could go on it anyway, his stomach was really bothering him. I don't know what happened, I don't know if it was from riding RnRC or something from Mama Melrose that didn't agree with him, but he was miserable. :(

So although it killed me to say this, and miss out on riding ToT even ONCE, I suggested we go back to POR so he could rest, which he quickly agreed to! I felt so bad, instead of feeling better, he seemed to be feeling worse, and there's no way we could have stayed much longer.

I took a few pictures on the way out

IMG_1888.jpg

I love the way they decorate for Christmas in the studios, I love all of the stars!

IMG_1889.jpg

Before we left, I wanted to get a few treats for the room later, so I ducked into a shop and got a couple of things...yum! (You will see what they are at the end of the update!)

Finally we made it to the tram and got on. While we were waiting for others to board, I took this picture of Brandon and said it was his "Defeated by Disney World" picture

IMG_1890.jpg

I felt horrible for him, he always seems to have stomach issues when we are in Disney World, and this trip was no different!

I said goodbye to my beloved MGM, knowing we wouldn't be back until the last day of our trip, unless we changed our plans at the last minute

IMG_1892.jpg

and soon we were walking to our car.

Once we found our car, we saw something in the middle of a parking space...a little pumpkin. Now I don't know if I ever mentioned it, probably not, because it's weird, but...I love pumpkins. Especially little ones. I felt so bad for it, I was asking Brandon how it got there, what was going to happen to it...so he finally picked it up, brushed it off, and put it in the backseat.

IMG_1893.jpg

I know, it's strange right? I just couldn't handle the thought of it getting run over or thrown away or something. So it stayed in the backseat for the remainder of our trip! It's the closest thing I've had yet to having a trip mascot!

We finally were back at POR and Brandon was looking forward to a nice long night of sleeping...we finally didn't have any early morning plans for the next day! I was going to get up early and do laundry, because we were already running out of essentials, and I was going to just let him sleep.

Once Brandon was asleep, I took out the snacks I bought at DHS and took a picture of them

IMG_1894.jpg

Don't they look SO good! I'd give anything for one of those huge Minnie cookies right now! Anyway, I confess...it was pretty late and I wasn't really hungry...but I had to try the rice krispy treat! In all of my trips to Disney, I have never had a Disney rice krispy treat! So I tried it and ended up eating the whole thing. :rolleyes1 Not the best thing to do right before bed, but it was so good, and really, it's not the worst thing I could eat before I got to sleep right? :rotfl:

So there you have it! Day 4 of our trip is over! All in all, it was a great day! We didn't get to do what I was looking forward to during EMH, but things happen, plans don't always work out at Disney and I'm ok with that! (Ok, most of the time!)

Up next...a Disney first for both of us!

aww sorry to hear about the illness!!! I can't remember the last time I was at DHS for EMH. It seems that we're always at Epcot or MK at night since they are always open later!

The sweets look good!!!

Great update! :) I'm sorry Brandon didn't feel good, though. It's never fun to be sick, especially at Disney. Do you still have the pumpkin?

Bummer on Brandon getting sick! I was waiting to hear how many times you had ridden ToT. Well, at least you got to ride RnR.

That pumpkin is so cute.

I really enjoyed your Day 4. So much fun. Hope Brandon wakes up feelin great!

That stinks that he started to have stomach issues...thats no fun especially at WDW :sad2: I agree the front of RnR is the best and its way too short, though my absolute favorite part of the ride is the launch part, I wish you could do that part over and over :rotfl:

Just got caught up.

Okay, those huge Minnie cookies? Love them! I bought two of them last trip and brought them home with me.

If someone would have yelled in my face like that on the Great Movie Ride, I think I would have yelled back at him! :lmao: It is true though, that's what happens when you take flash pictures. I'm one of those goody goodies that never breaks those rules on the ride. :rotfl:

Thanks! I make it a point to go to DHS for EMH, just to ride ToT over and over! I might have to rethink my strategy for my next trip though, since the ToT wait was so long!

I would love a Mickey rice krispy treat right about now!

Thanks! I felt so bad for Brandon, I think the combination of rides and eating so much at Disney gets to him sometimes! :)

No, we don't have the pumpkin anymore. :( I thought about keeping it, but I didn't know if it would cause a problem at the airport, so we put it in some bushes our last morning at POR, assuming some bunnies or squirrels might eat it. That's better than it being smushed in the DHS parking lot!

I know, it's too bad he wasn't feeling well, but ToT had such a long wait, I'm guessing we would have ended up just leaving anyway, I was getting frustrated with the wait time! I wish I wrote down how long it was, I don't remember though. :confused3

Thanks, I loved that little pumpkin!

Ugh, no sickness of any kind is fun at Disney! He always seems to have problems the first few days we are there, though! Just like I always seem to get a migraine the first night we are there (although, I managed not to have that happen this year, I wonder how I escaped it! :confused3)!

I love the launch part of RnRC too, I wish that part was longer! And I wish there was a really big drop in there somewhere, I love roller coasters with big hills! I guess it would be hard to make a big drop indoors though!

Just got caught up.

LOL I always want to bring home some of those cookies but I end up eating them before we leave! :rotfl:

OMG I wonder what would happen if you yelled back at the GMR CM? I have this fear of getting banned from Disney World, so I always try to follow the rules! princess: That would probably be the worst thing that could happen to me in life! :rotfl2:

Poor Brandon. Hope he woke up the next morning feeling better. I bet it was hard for you to leave without riding ToT, but sometimes that is just how it goes.:sad2:

Ugh, it was really hard not even riding ToT once!!! But poor Brandon was so miserable, I couldn't make him stay, just so I could have fun! And anyway, I knew we would be back in a few days, so it wasn't too bad! :thumbsup2

I hate to hear Brandon got sick! I think sometimes all of the rich food and the constant bumping and moving on rides can be a pretty bad combination, if you know what I mean. That was sweet of you to give up ToT so you could get back to POR.

I love the little pumpkin in the backseat! And that big Minnie cookie looks so yummy. I always say I'm going to get one and never do. :sad2:

I definitely think eating so much and the rides is a good way to get sick! I can't wait to see what happens this year when we have a full week at the Food and Wine fest!

Thanks, I felt so bad for that pumpkin, just sitting there all alone in the parking lot! :rotfl:

The Minnie cookies are SO good! I always get like 3 of them when I'm there, they could easily be breakfast or lunch if you are in a hurry, they're really filling! :woohoo:

Hi everyone!

Before I start my next update, I wanted to ask you guys about my next trip. As you know, we are going 10/1-10/9 and staying at AKL. I REALLY want to stay at AKL, but...I'm afraid the distance is going to bother me. I know everyone says it's not that bad with a car, but I know how I am, and I'm afraid it's going to annoy me. I know I'm going to love the resort, the rooms are beautiful, but it's just SO far away.

I realized that on our November trip, we were there for 8 days...and out of the 8 days, we went to Epcot 6 times! We love Epcot and we obviously spend the most time there, plus the Food and Wine fest will be going on, I think I might want to spend a little more time there.

So I was thinking, it might make sense to switch resorts, as much as I want to stay in AKL, it might have to wait til another time. :confused3 I'm thinking either the Beach or Yacht Club. I know I love the BC since I've stayed there, but I like trying new resorts, so I'm considering the YC. I'm also thinking maybe staying at WL...it costs less than the Epcot resorts and we can always just hop on the monorail to get to Epcot...

I asked Brandon what he wanted to do and he said "I just want to stay somewhere nice". Big help. I wouldn't be stressing about this when our trip is so far away, but rooms with pins book up fast, and there are already some categories not available with some of these resorts, so I'd like to change asap if I'm going to...

Help!!!

Back to the TR!

Lazy Tuesday Morning

Day 5 11/16

*Quick note before I start-I'm gonna try to make this update short, because honestly, it's a little boring! I apologize in advance, I just want to get it out of the way! :rotfl:*

I woke up around 8:30, which is late for me at Disney, and went outside to check out the laundry room. Wow, is this the place to be in the morning at POR! There were so many people doing laundry, I almost thought I wouldn't be able to get a machine! It was nice that we were so close to the laundry room, all I had to do was go outside, walk downstairs to the pool area, and there was the laundry room.

So I went back to the room, got all of our stuff, and put the laundry in and just sat there. It was so boring!! At least in WL they have a TV, there is nothing in this one! I played around on my phone for a while, and finally the laundry was finished and I could put it in a dryer.

Once I did that, I went back to the room to wake up Brandon, probably at like 9:30. Whatever was bothering him the night before was gone, luckily! He got ready and came down to the laundry room with me and helped me carry everything back to the room.

We didn't have anything planned, so we thought we would finally take the boat over to Downtown Disney! We had no idea where to find the boat, so we just walked over to the main building, and found the dock.

Some pics of POR I took on the walk over:

IMG_1899.jpg

Such a beautiful resort!

We got on the boat and soon we were making our way to DTD!

We went by POFQ, which was my first look at it

IMG_1901.jpg

It looks so cute, I was kind of wishing we stayed there instead, it's so small!

I think Brandon was annoyed with how slow the boat goes, but he was enjoying it at least! Hard to tell, from this picture!

Treehouse villas

IMG_1905.jpg

They look fun, but I don't think I could stay in one, they seem like they are out in the middle of nowhere!

Saratoga Springs Resort

IMG_1907.jpg

I love the colors of this resort!

Finally Downtown Disney!

IMG_1908.jpg

Apparently that's the only one I took of DTD while we were there, I don't know why, I thought I took a lot more! All we did while we were there was eat at Earl of Sandwich! It was really busy, even at 11:30 in the morning, Brandon had to wait in this ridiculous line, and I had to guard our table while he ordered everything. It was worth it though, EoS is SO good, and it was the first time on this trip that I finally got to have an actual sandwich there, not a breakfast sandwich! I got the tuna melt, which I always get, and I cannot remember what Brandon got! I didn't put it in my notes, took no pictures...I don't know, sometimes I forget that I'm supposed to keep track of all of these things!:rotfl:

I think I wanted to walk around a little and shop, but Brandon had other ideas of what he wanted to do today. So we got right back on the boat and went back to POR!

IMG_1910.jpg

Once we got back to POR, we just walked right by our room and went to the car to do something Brandon has wanted to do since he first went to Disney in 2008!

Up next, our fun afternoon before heading back to Epcot that night!

I LOVE all your pics of the resorts! I really want to stay at POR...I tried to book it for next month with an AP rate, but there was no availability! Oh well, that just means an excuse for another trip! We stayed st Saratoga Springs in 9/09 and loved it! It was so quiet and nice! I would love to go back again, but I am trying really hard to try new places (I'm not doing so well though...we stayed at POP 4x last year)!

We love EoS too!!! The sandwiches are just SOOO yummy! Hmm, now I really want one..thanks a lot! :rotfl: Now, you have to update quickly! I really want to know what you guys did that Brandon had been wanting to do!!!!

I would love it too if RnR had a huge drop (prob not great for indoors like you said :lmao:), I dont care so much for going upside down but I love big drops, probably why I LOVE ToT and Splash Mtn so much :rotfl:

To answer your question...I havent stayed at Y&B club since i was little, so I would love to as an adult stay there...have you thought about Boardwalk as well? I do LOVE the pictures I see from AKL and the feel of the resort when visiting it...but I am one who would like to be close to everything as well. Though it may be different with a car like you said :confused3 so I am obviously zero help!!

I think you should stay at YC. It looks so pretty and it's right near EPCOT. AKL looks nice but I was going to be at EPCOT everyday and attending Food and Wine I would pick BC or YC. You already tried BC, so I vote YC. I think it looks very pretty and grown up with little tiny Disney touches. Then again, AKL looks nice too. I think you are going to end up whining about being so far away though. Spilt stay?

Was your work closed today? I didn't see it listed on the news? The whole state of CT was a sheet of ice but usually you have to go anyway.

Thanks! POR is really pretty, I think I would try POFQ if I ever want to stay there again though. Unless POR does those Haunted Mansion themed rooms, I'd LOVE to stay in one of those! I never thought I'd like to stay in SSR, but I might someday, if I ever get brave enough to rent points!

Haha, there is an EoS opening in New York City sometime this year, and I'm already planning on going whenever it opens...it's gonna be hard not to go there at least once a month! :rotfl:

I would love it too if RnR had a huge drop (prob not great for indoors like you said :lmao:), I dont care so much for going upside down but I love big drops, probably why I LOVE ToT and Splash Mtn so much :rotfl:

I love big drops too, which is why I really need to get to Universal one of these trips! I'm hoping to get there this year, but who knows, we always plan to go and then we end up dropping it! :confused3 It looks like they have some crazy roller coasters!

I've thought about Boardwalk, but I don't like the pool, and I think just staying across from BC would make me want to be over there! I don't know what to do!

I think you should stay at YC. It looks so pretty and it's right near EPCOT. AKL looks nice but I was going to be at EPCOT everyday and attending Food and Wine I would pick BC or YC. I never thought I'd want to stay at YC but now I kind of want to...it looks a lot more grown up and quiet than BC. But BC is so pretty, and it's a lot closer to Epcot! YC can be a far walk after a long day in the parks...:confused3

I thought about a split stay, but then we won't be able to have the dining plan for the whole time, unless we did 2 separate packages, and then you're just wasting a lot of money on tickets. So I don't know what to do. I don't have to decide today but I have to decide soon before all the rooms are booked.

Of course we were open today, I left for work at 6:20, by 7 I made it to Orange on the Merritt, got off exit 56 and called my boss and said there was no way I was coming in. The roads were awful, I saw people spinning out all over the place, I didn't go faster than like 25 the whole time I was driving. Apparently half of my co workers called out today. I can't believe we were open! We're supposed to get more snow Friday! I'm so sick of it, I'm ready for Spring!

I didn't read your last update yet because I had to respond to your concern about AKL being so far away. It's really not! Seriously, I have stayed in all different places at the world and I did not find AKL to seem any further than the mod resorts in getting to the MK or anywhere else for that matter.

Sure - staying at the BC, BW, or YC would be ideal during food and wine, but I honestly don't think being at AKL is going to impact your trip, especially if you have a car.

IMHO - AKL is cooler than the WL. Yeah - I expected to love the WL because of the boat and all that, but AKL is just like a tropical oasis. I think the farthest place from both of those resorts is DTD. The parks were a breeze.

So, if you think you will like AKL for its theme, don't change. The place rocks! The pools are fantastic. It has THE best counter service and restaurants. Come on - Jiko, Sanaa, and Boma all in one place. How can you beat that? I LOVE the animal viewing areas and the great cast members.

Of course, if you can comfortably afford one of the Epcot resorts and don't mind spending the extra $, go for it. But you have to promise me that you will put AKL back on your list of must stay places because it really is "all that" and more. I wish I owned at Kidani and if I take the soccer moms in October I am hoping to stay there.

OK .........back to read.
