We all love pixie dust! Tell about your upgrades!

Feb this year - I had a normal standard view room booked at the BC. I get off the ME bus shortly before 3 pm and as I'm walking up to the entrance, a young lady CM with a clipboard approaches me and asks my name. I tell her, and she says, "Good news, Ms. So&So, you've been upgraded to Club Level!" Total shock! I think I was kind of choking up, talking with her as we went up the elevator. I had a standard view CL room, 5th floor overlooking the front entrance, and it was perfect; walk straight ahead from the CL lobby and I was the last room on the right before the bend in the hall, so I had no one on my right and no one across from me. I didn't take as much advantage of the CL as I could/should have, but loved being able to grab a diet Coke from the fridge when I came back for afternoon breaks.

We were upgraded from a standard room at WL to CL. We were completely shocked but they did get us as we continue to book WL club every visit.

Resort: Grand Floridian
-Upgraded from: Standard Garden View
-Upgraded to: room with two balconies; one facing MK and one facing Poly
-Special occasion (if any): Honeymoon

We got married September 15, 2001. When we got there, the place was empty due to 9/11 (everyone had canceled their trips). When we arrived we asked if we could upgrade (we were willing to pay). The CM called someone and told us it would be an extra $75 a night. We said sure! Then she called someone again and told us that our upgrade would be complimentary! We even received champagne and roses the next day. I think we were upgraded because we were not looking for a handout plus they probably had the occupancy to do so considering 9/11 and all.

We got married on the 14th! I was kinda hoping for an upgrade since occupancy was so low but didn't ask. We stayed at CBR and did have a nice courtyard view and they put us in Aruba (right? Where pirate rooms are now?) so we'd have more privacy. (I honestly would have been ok with less privacy and a shorter walk, but it was a nice gesture.).

We chose to drive rather than risk all the airline cancellations and we had planned on arriving the 16 anyway, so we had time. On the way we stopped in Daytona and looked for a hotel, not too cheesy. Well, we accidentally walked into a place that turned out to be upscale condos and they offered us a condo for just over 100.00 since they were empty and bored. Super nice place, 2 br, mini golf, lazy river. It was so nice of them. Must have cost more than that to have the room cleaned when we left.

Ooh... And got upgraded to concierge at Beaches last winter! That pixie dust must have caught a southbound breeze to Jamaica!

Summer 2012
I was booked with my 3DDs in CR garden wing, standard view- our first stay at a monorail resort- so excited!! A week before our travel date, I received a call from reservations that our resort was overbooked. :(. I thought it might be my husband playing a joke. Nope.... We were offered the Grand Floridian. I had always dreamed of the Poly. I asked, and he found us a lagoon view at the Poly!!!! We loved it!! And felt so spoiled!

We've been fortunate to have been upgraded three times.

1. POFQ.
Booked standard view
Upgraded to Water view
No occaision.

2. Coronado Springs
Booked standard view.
Upgraded to water view/corner room.
Girls only trip.

3. AKL
Booked standard view
Upgraded to savannah view
Girls only trip.

The only one I made a special request for was at CSR. Asked for Cabanas 8b. Got what I asked for as well as the upgrade.

We've always been so very appreciative at getting an upgrade and have never asked for one.:)

This may be a silly question, but are people in the value resorts ever upgraded? We are staying in a Little Mermaid Standard room at Art of Animation in Feb. I just assume that the upgrades are for those who are already staying at a pricier resort? And of course, I realize any upgrade is wonderful. (And also a long shot.)

I am thinking there really isn't much to "upgrade" to at a value resort. The "views" really aren't that much different from each other. So they probably don't usually bother.
