I know it's hard to believe, and at 1st choice for a hotel the Floridian wasn't it, however, my husband was down there on business and got a great "convention" rate on an extended stay in his room. I always thought this hotel was too uppity to stay in with kids, but I was wrong. The rooms are oversized, and with 5 people (2 adults, 2kids 7and 9, and an infant in a crib.) we were still comfortable. I truly wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done it myself. The balcony overlooking the pool was an added bonus too. The staff was more than accomodating, and made my children feel welcomed and wanted. Again, I was surprised. Shame on me for judging a book by its cover!!! I would go again in a heartbeat.(if the price was again right; it's insane to stay there w/o a bargain.

Awesome deal--can you share what you paid--or at least what your % discount was.

I've wanted to stay at GF for years--but have since come to terms that it may never be affordable :(

The convention rate for extended stay was $150.00/nite. This was our opportunity to stay in an otherwise unaffordable resort, so we jumped on it. I might add, that when I tried calling on my own, I was told nothing was available at all on the monorail for 9/30 - 10/4. However, my husband, already being there, was able to extend his stay with this convention rate with absolutely no problem. I might add that they never even checked the convention we were with.(they may have already known)
It was truly a lovely place to stay. Hope this helps....

I'm glad to hear you were comfortable at The Grand Floridian. It's a beautiful hote, but I've always felt I wouldn't be comfortable there, after reading your post I'm thinking....perhaps I need to give it a try. Thanks for posting!:D

Wow - that is so neat, the GF for $150/night. I would have jumped at that chance too!

Glad you had a good time.:D

I am so glad you had a good experience and stayed there!!!

I love the GF!

We have stayed there several times. Sometimes we stayed at a mod for a few nights so we could afford to stay at the GF for a few nights too.

It is VERY kid friendly. There are TONS of folks with kids - they have some of the best kids activities there too (pirate cruise, food program) and we have never, ever felt out of place with our baby and our child there.

It is a great resort. One time we really splurged and did the concierge - which we did NOT think was worth the money and found the CM's to be less than friendly there. It is the only time we have had a negative feeling about the GF and when we stayed in the regular rooms that was never the case.

:goodvibes

I am so happy to hear all this, and happy we did give GF a try.
I think if the opportunity presents itself, one should take it and try the GF. I think I may be spoiled now. Everyone should spoil themselves a bit.
On to the next question, since we did have rail trouble, we'd like to try some mod. next. Any suggestions, and how manageable is it really with little ones?
