I've just been assuming they will have trams. Can't imagine they wouldn't. And yeah, it's a pier... I actually think it looks cool because it's so long--but I understand those with mobility issues seeing it as a hurdle.Any reason to believe they won't have a tram to transport guests to the island? I haven't heard one way or another. As to the look of the pier - it's a pier. I'm not there to look at the pier, I'm there to look at the island. I think it will be an exciting trip one day for us. Can't wait to see more of it!
And better than tendering.I believe the ship docking far and needing the long pier is part of sustainability efforts and care for the marine life

I am sure for severe mobility needs they will. Do exhausted kids count or parents carrying all their stuff? DCL primarily targets families. I am sure a 7 & 4yos are going to LOVE that walk after swimming all day and being tired. There are only two tram stops on the map and neither of them is on the far end of the pier, so I don't expect trams to be running down the pier at all. I would be surprised if Disney doesn't offer transportation via golf cart or something similar to those who need it, though. That's pretty common in other ports that I've visited.
