We got to the parks around 9:30. We got maxpass for one ticket. It was quite a learning curve although I’m very familiar with FP.

We got DAS as soon as we entered DCA because there was no line. We got RSR reserved.

We rode monsters inc. It made the 2 yo cry.
Potty break.
Rode flik’s flyers.
Used the DAS for RSR. It looked long. So I took baby on Luigi’s. They were done before us! 3 yo with sensory issues was having a meltdown. RSR may have been too much. Eek!

I got a vegetarian cozy cone. Loved it. Slight kick. Nice crunch from the chips. I didn’t eat the cone. Couple of bites I had were meh.

No allergy menu there. So we went to award wieners. They brought out the box for me to check the allergy free bun. It passed! Kids and dad fed. :)

We went to hotel. I have several more observations from around the park. A couple of things I’d like to bring up to city hall. I’ll report more tomorrow. Kids wake us up throughout the night. I need to sleep.

I will be following your trip closely. I am going with two 3 YOs in May. They are shorter so won't need to worry about RSR being too much.

Whatg is DAS?
And why did you just get ONE MAXPASS?
DAS is an accommodation available for people who can't always wait in the regular line for reasons that a wheelchair won't fix (e.g. sensory issues, anxiety, etc.). It allows you to wait for approximately the same amount of time as standby, but outside the queue so you can move around or go somewhere quiet depending on your needs.

As for MaxPass, they might have only purchased one because they only intend to use it for photopass, or because they have a 2yo with them so they'll be able to use rider swap for most FP rides, so it might not be necessary to get a FP for everyone.

Ooo, thanks for the update on the vegetarian chilli cozy cone. I have yet to try that. I've heard that you can get half chilli and half mac and cheese too, but that sounds kind of weird (who knows, it may be good?).

Sorry to hear your little one had a meltdown from RSR. There is a LOT going on in that ride. Hopefully your day 2 is going well!

RSR has some scary parts! Our 3yo was also able to go, and he loves Cars...frank the combine really freaked him out, and then the next few times we rode it we had to cover his eyes during that part (and he's not too usually bothered by things.)

Yes! The combine is what did it. :) It’s his least favorite part in the movie too!

Exactly. We can’t all go on all of the maxpass rides so we’re saving a few dollars. Lol

It’s not even necessary. But it’s nice.

Things I will be bringing up to city hall.

*seems like less character sightings in general.

*we've seen only a couple of fastpass photographers. Buying maxpass for photos is pointless unless you love the ride photos.

*appreciate the interactions with cast members loading rides. Our first morning alone I really felt the magic from that.

*i Love original space mountain. Leave it alone!

*the portobello sandwich at award wieners is now terrible. The bun is much smaller. So, the mushroom (too much) to peppers (not enough) ratio has increased significantly. The flavor all seems to be in the peppers and there weren’t enough. All the cheese fell off. The plate is too small and the cheese all fell in the table. I’m so happy to have the option of fries there though.

*character sightings are chaotic. When we come to an area looking for them based on the app I’d prefer a line. People have formed one because it’s logical and the handler shouts no line.

*the music in DCA. I like the music. But not for the in park experience. It’s not upbeat and bouncy. Some of the songs are ok -mostly the Spanish sounding songs instead of the bass ones. I noticed an issue when we got home last night but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Today we listened closely and my sis said it was for the food & wine festival.

*we haven’t been able to use a rider switch pass at all. We’ve gotten several but they can’t wait for us to ride it directly after. Since you can now only have one in “your plans” (on the app) at a time I don’t see why it has to be issued an expiration. It could have no end time, just like DAS. That way we could actually use the swap during nap.

*I don’t like the new soarin. You’re not part of the ride like you used to be. Some cgi flying in your face doesn’t make up for it. The transitions are great! Thanks for fixing that. But from my seat the buildings were all curved. Perhaps that’s why they were originally scenic locations.

*Loved the seating at WOC. I’d have paid for it without the food. I think you should just fill that whole area with seats, remove the food feature and just offer drinks (Or not) for a slightly lower price. I’d pay $40 for a seat for my whole family. I’ll never stand for that show again. It’s horrible. I wish there was a rule for no kids on shoulders though.

Is it rainy at all? I know it was supposed to rain today, that would limit some characters. Even when we went a couple of weeks ago in the rain there were quite a few characters out though. You can use the app to find what time and who will be out, at the very top scroll over to Characters and it will show you a clickable map with every scheduled character. You can find some really fun random ones appearing in strange places that way!

They cut characters this week due to weather.

Are you at DL or DCA? Every time I’ve been at DCA lately, there are Photographers standing around all over since they took them out of the meet and greets. I wonder if they cut them due to weather, too...

Monday afternoon:
In the afternoon I went to the park during nap. I had reserved a maxpass for soarin. Then I went to get the veggie sandwich at award wieners. I won’t be back for this.

Made a maxpass reservation for space mountain around 7 pm.

I went to Disneyland park and got 2 fp for big thunder. We created rider swap passes. He was very scared. Hiding eyes most of the time. But wanted to go again with dad. They went immediately after. We decided the 40” rides aren’t gking to work yet. This little one is developmentally delayed so emotionally like a 2 year old. We will treat it that way going forward! Although I will have dad take him in soarin.

After that we all went on small world. He loved it. 2yo was scared just because it was a little dark.

Then mom rode space alone using maxpass!!

Then dad rode star tours alone using maxpass.

Great day! Kids both fell asleep quickly. :)

Tuesday morning: everyone woke at 8 after a surprisingly solid nights sleep.

We’re at HomeWood suites. We most likely won’t stay here again. 20 min walk is too much. We used baby carriers and the toy story shuttle. But we’re too old and fat! It’s too hard to fold up the double stroller on the shuttle that it’s not worth it.

I was leaning toward Hyatt house for my solo trip in dec. I’m going to switch to one of the motels across the street. Haha!

We went to Disneyland park and got a DAS time for Casey jr. 2 yo was even scared on that!

Then we got a DAS for pooh and a maxpass time for Indy. Dh rode Indy while I took kids to bathroom near splash. Really nice new area under hungry bear!

Then we rode pooh without him. I was hoping for the character line up in the pooh area. But they just had the characters out and about. I don’t like it. It’s disorganized. The handlers kept repeating there’s no line. 2 yo was freaked by characters although crying to get near them. Lol got a nice video with pooh.

Then dad rode pooh with 3 yo and we headed to our blue bayou reservation. Our kids do great eating out. But with the overstimulation of the park they took too long to settle and made it not worth it. I couldn’t enjoy my meal. I’ll expound more later.

We then saw woody on our way to the Chewbacca Meeting for DH. And I got das for autopia. We all rode and then on the way out of the park I got a das for the carousel.

I have a maxpass for space mountain this evening. Also one for guardians of the galaxy this afternoon if one of us wants to go. Almost time to add another. I love I can do this during nap, from the room!

DH went on GOG during nap. Got back at 5 in time for dinner at HomeWood suites. Even though our kids have a lot of food sensitivities we have found them at least something every time so far. Eggs or fruit, etc.

Used our DAS on the carousel when we went back as a family around 6. We used our multiple experience pass (from when big thunder went down) on space mountain for DH. When it turned into mep we cancelled our space mp and made a later btmrr mp for me. After we made a new das time for teacups (mistake—made the evening too long for the kids). Then tea cups. Then my big thunder pass.

We ended the night at Bengal bbq.

Oh!! Good to know.

We have been parkhopping.

It is rainy weather schedule. Have you looked around for them? Example, we usually find several in the Animation Academy, in the inside hall for Carthay, in the exit area of Great Moments with Lincoln. Sometimes they open the area by Stage 17 for characters too.

Is stage 17 where the kids band groups are playing? We looked there at the suggestion of the app at the time suggested and no character. I haven’t looked inside. I will.

Problem is there has been very little rain! Yesterday and today, although predicted, only had rain 15ish min around 1 pm.

Yes. We’ve been using the app. They haven’t always been where it says they’ll be. Lol

Toontown is usually promising too. Mickey and Minnie are almost always “home” during the day and goofy and Pluto frequently cycle through the area
