Day 12, August 3
Picture Perfect Greek Island - Part 2
We knew the direction and off we went, but what we did not realize was that the streets were going up and down and they were so narrow and we quickly lost our sense of direction and after about 20 minutes of just “walking around” we found ourselves back at the waterfront again.
We had been going in circles and while we had really enjoyed all the lovely white houses and narrow paths we had been walking around on, we still needed to get to those windmills. So we tried again, lets walk along the water’s edge, then we must get up there somewhere.
Whoops, the path takes another turn and we need to keep right, so we kept right and then another turn and another one.
There were fun little shops all along the way.
We stopped and looked at things
and at one point we tried to even connect to the internet to get directions, but it never worked. And within a few more minutes we found ourselves right where we had started from.
Now, this was getting ridiculous.
So, into a souvenir shop we went and bought a map! Map in hand we started out to find the windmills a third time.
Again, the paths twisted and turned and we found ourselves lost even with the map. But we must have taken a right turn, as this time we just turned a corner and were at the foot of the hill the windmills are on. We were happy to say the least.
So we slowly made our way up to the windmills,
sat on the ledge at the side of the road for a while, took a lot of photos and walked all over the little hill.
We saw quite a lot of faces we knew from the Magic and we even knew some of these were from our group, but there were quite a few individuals in there that were pretty self centered and I had taken a back seat, keeping my head down.
To be continued ..........
