WDYT: friend thinks she can get in free

I would go, tickets in hand, and not feel bad about it for a second. Unless she can confirm that a CM friend of hers is "just letting her in" her details are sketchy at best. I'd also not want to "just get let in" like she thinks she will be, because her wording sounds like she's doing dishonest and below the board. Maybe it's not sketchy or dishonest, but she just doesn't sound like she's got a solid plan at all.

Her exact wording to me was that they go to the side entrance and their CM friend opens the chain. It sounded like maybe the exit? IDK. I told her I couldn't even picture what she was talking about and we just went in april. I'm hoping she has the sense to ask a CM friend soon, so she's sure she's set. I'm assuming if it doesn't work out, they will go ahead and buy tickets at the gate.

The old system required CMs to use a specific turnstile, typically on the end/side, in order to use their Maingate; she could be referencing that.

You can't buy tickets at the MK gates, she'll be riding back to the TTC to get herself a ticket.

One thing to note, the maingate process changed with the installation of RFID media. In the old days, CMs could drop off Guests and leave because they would get Guest paper tickets at the entrance. Now, Cast must reuse the same ticket media, requiring them to either stay with the Guest (which is the policy), get the card back from the Guest at a later time, or leave their Guest at the park with no media (meaning no FP and no re-entry). Just to restate, the policy is to stay with the Guest, so you may find others in your party that day.

Speaking for myself and many of my peers; the RFID cards are very valuable, so many CMs have substantially limited the number of Guests we get into the parks.

With all of that said, I don't think you should stress yourself out. Plan your trip for you.

The other snag will be, that the CM must stay with the group they bring in, all day. (unless very close relatives). They also need to get the guest passes back at the end of the day. It is more complicated now than it used to be (still pretty simple at DL though). They need to work with their CM friend to get the FP+ set up.

Have a fun day.

Actually they can use FP+. The CM can add FPs to the Guest Pass using MDE 7 days out. They can also do it once they enter the park.

Like there's anything worth getting a FP+ for 7 days out? But the OP makes it sound like the friends are getting in without tickets.

OP - make sure you wave to your friends in the standby queue while you go by with your FP+ for the big attractions! :)

Many variables here that could come in to play but especially is she good enough friends that they would give her 4 of their passes per day?

Have your own tickets, have your own transportation, have your FP+ booked and if she doesn't get in ... say goodbye and enjoy your day.

Her details are sketchy but why should they be otherwise? She had cm friends, she knows they have a system of letting friends in; why does a friend of a cm have to have the ability to recite the exact way they'll get in?

If I had a cm friend I wouldn't particularly care how they are getting me in, and wouldn't think a friend would need to know the exact details either.

Under the category of more than anyone wanted to know or beating a dead horse

Actually I think it was chock full of super info. Thanks.

The old system required CMs to use a specific turnstile, typically on the end/side, in order to use their Maingate; she could be referencing that.

So what sounded super-sketchy when the OP quoted her friend is simply the description of how it would seem to a non-cm back the last time the friend was there.

I would not worry about this. If your friend has friends who want to share their passes, good for her. If your friend is using a CM in a way that is not appropriate, that is on them, and I would not lose one second of sleep if they get caught.

My niece was a CM on the CP in DLR. SHe had a specific number of passes to share, so she took her Mom and me in the parks one day. WE knew she had more passes, but we chose not to use them again because to us, they were precious gifts she should use when the rest of her family came to visit. Ultimately it was up to her to share or not.

My advice here is to mind your own business, enjoy your park stay, and let your friend worry about her plans.

So your friend hasn't been to WDW since she was a kid almost 17 years ago?! And because she remembers not waiting in lines, she's not willing to listen to your current info? :rotfl2:

Yea, I'd say: "here's what attractions & times we have our fast passes set up for, maybe you can get some at the same times. Text me when you're in the park & we can try to meet up." I wouldn't waste any of my vacation time waiting around for her.

Good luck, enjoy your vacation!! :goodvibes

I'm in the group that says, don't worry yourself about what your friend does. It doesn't involve you, any more than they'll be joining you for the day at some point. You can figure out the details once you know if they get in or if they don't.

Tons. We move around FP all the time, often changing the parks we want to head to that day after we get up that morning. It's not hard at all to get FP same day, for most rides. FEA and 7D are about the only ones it's hard to get and I've gotten them on rare instances too.

I would guess it would depend on when you go - not so easy to get them in the summer, especially day of.

Had a very good friend that I went to school with and has worked for Disney World for 25 years. He knew we were coming down for 5 nights last August and we met him and his family for dinner the day we arrived. He told me not to worry about tickets or making FP+ ressies. At the end of dinner he handed me an envelope with 3 5 day parkhoppers for my wife and adult daughter and 3 fast passes for each day to be used on any attraction. He assured me he did not have to pay for them and just enjoy our stay. He was a great friend in high school and it continues. Needless to say his family is on the top of our Christmas list.

How did the FP work? Were they re-entry passes, or real, open-ended FP+ tied to your tickets?

We do go in the summer. It's very easy.

You've been able to get 7DMT, Splash, Space, BTMRR, PP, and other high demand FP+ at a decent time of the day in the summer? What part of the summer do you go? We go in August, and have had to accept FP+ that are 5-6 hours into the day for most attractions at MK. And that's the only park that had any FP+ available.

We go for two weeks every August and have no problems getting fp's at all parks morning of, when we wake up and decide to switch parks for the day. As mentioned, SDMT and FEA might be the exceptions.
