Who - Me (WDWLVR) and DH (MarkRG on the DIS). Very experienced WDW veterans. First and only trip to the World this year.
Day 4 - 12/5. Today started off a lot more slowly as we didn't have any firm plans except for dinner at O'hanas. We were just going to grab a quick breakfast down at the Food and Fun Center but the place was a zoo! Went instead up to the Concourse Steak House for breakfast. Here we had a really bad server. Unlike the young woman who served us at Rose and Crown who was nice but appeared new and with bad timing, our server this morning was just there. No real smile, no personality, and it took her 5-10 minutes to bring us ketchup when asked. It also took her the same amount of time to bring me my side of bacon to go with the english muffin I ordered. Oh well - we're on vacation.
Out to the bus stop as we are heading over to MGM this morning. We weren't even going to do MGM this trip, but heard about the set from the Haunted Mansion movie and wanted to see that. Got to MGM and found that the set wasn't open yet but there was a line so we got in. About 20 minutes later they open it up and in we go. The no photo rule was in effect which is a bummer. The set is huge but to be honest we were really disappointed. You bascially get herded into this large room, watch a clip about making the movie and the sets and then have a few minutes to walk around and look at things. Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't this.
Walked around and saw all the construction going on at MGM - hope this new show is worth it. I used to love seeing Residential Street - especially when it had Osborne Lights on it.
Went and had our picture taken with Mickey in his Sorcerer costume. No line and a cute setting. This is a photo we really thought we would buy but had them take one with our camera as well (and I'm very glad we did). We were told the picture would be ready in 90 minutes.
Went over to Muppet Vision which is always fun. Did some shopping and then went to have lunch at the backlot express. Got the chicken fingers lunch for both and the portions were huge - we should have split one.
Some more shopping and walking to kill time and then we go to look at the photo. It isn't ready yet. The guy behind the counter was borderline rude. He told us we would just have to wait and come back later. Sorry dude - we aren't going to cool our heels just waiting for a photo - you lost a sale. Looking back I think the absense of people hurt us. During a busy time they probably turn over the media from the cameras quicker. With it being so dead the poor guy was probably still shooting with the same camera/media. Oh well - the picture taken with our camera came out great.
Next stop was Downtown Disney or as we still call it the Village. Got to go by the construction of Saratogo Springs - looks nice.
First stop was the scrapbook store even though I had already picked up a 2003 scrapbook and some sticker sheets earlier in the trip at Magic Kingdom. Wouldn't you know it they had one here dedicated to the holidays! The decision was quickly made to buy this new one and return the other (it was still wrapped and I had the receipt). We also hit Disney at Home (why can't we have a store like this near us), Once Upon a Toy, and World of Disney.
After an afternoon of shopping we headed back to the hotel and clean up for dinner. I made a quick trip down to the gift shop where they were happy to take my return of the first scrapbook (even though I bought it over at Magic Kingdom - that is nice service). The WISH meet was this afternoon but DH had expressed interest in dining at O'hanas and since our trips are our best couple time I opted for dinner. Sorry I missed all you WISH'ers looked like a great meet. We had a wonderful time at dinner with a table right by the window! Dinner was wonderful and filling.
We had toyed with the idea of going back to Epcot after dinner but decided while we were eating to just take it easy this evening and chill out. We walked around both the Poly and Grand Floridian taking pictures (BTW I like the new tree at the GF!) Then back to the hotel to relax. DH got into Friday night DCL chat, but was having trouble staying connected. Since tonight was another MVMCP at the Magic Kingdom we got to see the holiday version of WISHES from our room again - awesome!
Another great day comes to an end. We only have one full day left
. With that we headed off to bed to get ready for our last day!
