wdwgirl and Dad do Disney:an April '10 PTR...TR LINK ADDED!! p. 56

The answer is YES!! Or try to!! My DD and I love to go!! Tickets go on sale Saturday!! :goodvibes

Cool! My family goes to quite a few games (well, atleast my dad, sisters, and I do...our mom could really care less...). The past couple years we one of the 9-game plans. Can't wait for opening day! We decided to leave for FL the day after so we could go to the game. :rolleyes1

Hey,
just wanted to say good-bye.
I have to pick-up a rain poncho for my dh.
Heard it is suppose to rain on Saturday,
and that is the best time to be in the parks.
We are going to Epcot on Saturday-and my dh even does Mission Space.
We do the chicken side though-it is a little cramped in the seat,
but it is nothing more than a video game, with twist and turns.
If I don't get sick, you won't-,
My dh Ford truck gets me truck sick-he always has the heat turned on so hot, and I am always hanging my head out the window.
I'm seriously considering taken my little Jetta to the airport,
or picking up David with my Jetta and having him drop us off at the airport.
But then again, it gives him an excuse to race my car against other Jetta's on I43. :confused3
-you two really need to meet,
I know you would become good friends.

Have an awesome time! :wave2:

All this talk of the Brewers, we should have a huge DIS meet at a game. :rotfl::cheer2: LOL.

Hey guys!

No major updates but I just saw something on here about there being new celebration buttons for DVC members. This is what the short article said:

Beginning 2/26/10, DVC members will have their own special celebration buttons. Buttons that say "Member Since" will be available for DVC members to customize with the year they joined the Club. Guests wearing these buttons will be greeted by cast members with the phrase "Welcome Home".

Guess who will be getting one of those...gotta love free souvenirs. :thumbsup2

I also saw some more exciting news about the Flower and Garden Festival. There's going to be a Princess and the Frog display too. That should be cool, though I read that it's just going to have cutouts of the characters instead of topiaries. :sad2: Ohhh well, still cool. Might have to check that out.

And lastly, some non-related Disney news...there's finally an opening date for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It should be open May 28. Ahhh we can't wait to go see it. :thumbsup2

Sarah, I was looking at the park hours and thinking about what we could do each day, so I thought I'd summarize my thoughts here so the people following the report can see how we go about planning our trips.

For now, I'm assuming that we'll be coming home on Monday as planned and that you won't have to come home early for work. It really stinks when being a responsible adult gets in the way of having fun. :)

I also expect the parks to be super crowded the first few days we are there, though I expect them to thin out a little from Friday through the weekend as the Easter crowd heads out. Because of the crowds I don't expect to be able to do a lot of attractions, especially the major ones, in the afternoons or evenings, so that's when we can spend time at the pool, or at DD, or at the parks looking for those "hidden treasures".

Tuesday- Arrival Day

I'm reminded from some of our recent adventures with the airlines that it's not a good idea to get your heart too set on what you can do on arrival day. But, assuming that the plane is close to on time and we have no problems with the Magical Express (after we stop at Chick-Fil-A, of course) we should be getting to the AKL around 1 PM. You and I usually like to go to a park right away to get into the Disney groove, so we can go to AK, Epcot, or DHS to see how the crowds are. (I'm saving MK for a morning). If we can't get into our room right away, we could check our bags with the bell desk and check out the AK for a few hours, then come back and check into the room, and go to a different park or DD for the evening. If we can get into the room, we could go to DHS to see the Block Party Bash and a few other things (maybe an AIE show). I wouldn't expect to do any major rides because of the crowds, but maybe TOT or the single riders line at RNR wouldn't be too bad. Epcot has PM EMH that night, so it might be really mobbed, and I don't want to stay out too late on the first night because we will probably be tired from getting up so early to catch our flight.

Wednesday and Thursday

I'm lumping these together because I have reservations at Tony's both nights so we can choose which night to eat there and then stick around for Spectromagic and Wishes. MK has AM EMH on Thursday (7 AM:eek:), but I'm thinking it might be better to start at MK on Wednesday and eat at Tony's on Thursday. We always like to start at MK on our first full day, and that way we can see the welcome show. (Unless they've changed it, they do that before the regular opening, not EMH.) 8 AM should be early enough for us to hit our major favorites (Space, Buzz, Splash, Thunder, HM, Pirates, Jungle Cruise) before the park gets too crazy. When it gets too crowded, we can head back to the AK for some pool time. In the evening, we can go to Epcot or DHS (whichever we don't see the first day) and catch the evening show. It might be a good night for Illuminations.

On Thursday, we can start at DHS and hit our favorites (TSM- hopefully twice, TOT and RNR) and then see what else we feel like doing before heading back for the pool. Then we can go back to MK for dinner and the night shows.

Friday

This will be our main Animal Kingdom day, as we are doing the backstage tour at 1 PM. So, we can start the day at AK at opening, and should have plenty of time to hit our favorites (Safari, EE, Dinosaur) and visit some of the animal trails and maybe catch the Lion King show before lunch and the tour. I know I WON'T want to go on KRR before our tour, but maybe we can get FP's to see if we feel like doing it after the tour and before we return to the AKL.

Friday evening we can see what we feel like doing after the long day at the AK.

Saturday and Sunday

What we do these days may depend on what we've been able to do the first few days. We'll probably want to start one day at Epcot to do our favorites (Soarin' and TT), some of the other things in World Showcase, and Kim Possible. We could either do that on Saturday or Sunday. I am also guessing that you'll want to start a second day at MK to do the things we aren't able to do the first day and to do some of our favorites a second time. Looking at the park hours, it might make sense to do that on Saturday because the park opens at 8 AM before returning to the usual 9 AM opening on Sunday. Because the crowds may be thinning out after the holiday, there might be a chance to cover a lot of ground at the MK between 8 AM and noon.

Somewhere in here I think you want to see Fantasmic, and I was thinking we could do that on Saturday night.Today I made a reservation for an early dinner at Sci-Fi; maybe we can eat there before the show.

On Sunday evening we could consider trying PM EMH at the MK if we have enough energy. Because our flight isn't until late Monday afternoon, we won't have to get up early, and it might be fun to see what the park is like that late. Of course, though that sounds good in theory, I probably will be falling asleep by 10 PM.

Anyway, that's the rough outline. With all the snow we've had the last few weeks, I'm ready to go tomorrow.:goodvibes:dance3::dance3:

Well I guess it's about time for another update since today we hit the 40 DAY MARK!!!! Getting close now!

When I got home from school Dad informed me he made an ADR for the Sci-Fi Dine-In for the Saturday we're there. That would be fun. In a way I'm kind of surprised it was that easy to make an ADR since it's a busy time but maybe the Sci-Fi isn't as popular as some other places. Who knows.

And in case you didn't see, here's a NEW ROUGH ITINERARY (just the previous post) for our trip. That's about as detailed as our planning gets, haha!

I've also been inspired by RachelNinja's "Picture Perfect" posts to come up with my own ideas for pictures. It seems that since we've been there so many times, I always end up taking the same sorts of pictures so I've been brainstorming some ideas for new things to take pictures of (like many DISers it's hard NOT to take dozens, or should I say hundreds, of pictures. So far here's my list:

Sarah's Picture Scavenger Hunt

:magnify: One in each World Showcase pavilion...I did this once before with my sister and it was kind of cool.
:magnify: Topiaries...since we'll be there during the F&GF I'm sure there will be plenty to choose from.
:magnify: A fountain
:magnify: Main Street windows...it's interesting reading about the meaning behind the windows
:magnify: The Mr. Toad statue in the pet graveyard outside the Haunted Mansion
:magnify: At the Magical Express place at the airport
:magnify: some at Downtown Disney...for some reason I just don't ever take pictures there
:magnify: new characters...specifically Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen and the Up characters if they're still there
:magnify: Tree of Life carvings
:magnify: at the top of Expedition Everest...OK, there are really two pictures I want from this ride: one on the initial incline where you can see the whole park and then at the top near the broken tracks. Maybe I should bring my old camera in case I drop it.
:magnify: in a gift shop
:magnify: the end of Splash Mountain...you know, the walls that say "It's the truth, it's actual". LOVE IT.
:magnify: at the resort
:magnify: a menu
:magnify: food...LOL!

Feel free to give me some more ideas too!

Oh yes, and check out what I got at Michael's the other day in the $1 section:

Isn't it cute? I'd like to say I'll be using it as a trip journal but umm yeah, I'm not so good at making notes. We'll see.

And last but not least, on my Michael's trip I also got another shadow box for some of my pins. I was feeling creative and this is the finished product:

The theme is resorts, attractions, and celebrations. I think it turned out alright.

I think that's all the randomness I have for now. Have a great night!

40 days! OMG, it's going to be here before you know it!

All of your scavenger hunt pictures are really good! I agree, I have tons of pictures of the same thing so brainstorming some new ones is a great idea.

Cute notebook and love the shadow box! Look really great :thumbsup2

Love the shadow box-- what a great way to display pins! I've always wanted to get into pin collecting/trading, but thought they wouldn't be a "useful" souveneir. You definitely proved that wrong!

Haha, I feel so famous being mentioned in your PTR :)

I like your photo scavenger hunt list! I didn't even think of getting a pic in each WS pavilion; I might be borrowing that idea! Haha, of course, that's only if we make it all the way around!

I saw that TinkerBell notebook too and was deciding between than one and the Fairies one I got. Does it have lined paper?

Ooo, I like what you did with your pins! If I ever get sucked into buying pins, I might do it with that shadow box idea in mind. I'd want to be able to see them on display all the time instead of leaving them on the lanyard.

40 days?!?! That's so exciting!! I'm loving your picture Scavenger Hunt. I'm definitely going to take pics of the food! Don't wanna forget that!! And I absolutely love the Tinkerbelle journal! Super Cute!!

I know, can't believe it's almost March already and then I can say we're going next month!

Thanks for the compliment on the shadow box. :)

haha, well pins still are pretty useless but that doesn't stop me from buying them. I do have to give credit to the DIS for the idea of putting them in some sort of display since I saw that a lot of other people made them.

haha, you should! ;)

Yup, the notebook does have lined paper and it came with a pen too. :)

That's kind of how mine were before...I just had them on some ribbons and thought a display case might be kind of cool.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: woo hoo for 40 days!!!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

40 Day Mark!

Your itinerary looks nice and realistic. I'm still shocked by a 7AM EMH! I didn't realize the parks would be that busy, but I guess it is Spring Break.

The Photo Scavenger Hunt looks great. :thumbsup2

:woohoo: for 40 days!!! (or actually 39 now..right?;))

The photo scavenger hunt looks like so much fun!!! Great idea!:thumbsup2

A scavenger hunt! I love the picture in each pavillion idea and too funny that I have zero pictures for the ME area. I never think to take one there, I'm too excited hopping on my bus. ;)

The top of EE is a goal for me too I think. Maybe thru the lens of my camera I'll get over my trepidation.... usually I just stare straight ahead.

How about ride photos?
Sunrises/sunsets?
Getting CMs in staged funny poses?

Scavenger hunt looks great!

Shadow box is fab! What did you use in the background? Is it just scrapbooking paper? I wanted to do that also with my pins since I don't trade them.

Love the shadow box Sarah! What a great idea!

Your scavenger hunt sounds great. Can't wait to see how it turns out. :goodvibes

39 days now! :cool1:

Yeah, those EMH are crazy early during the peak times. When we've gone after Christmas and gone to MK EMH in the morning it's been dark! LOL.

Yep, 39!

Thanks! Still trying to come up with a few more ideas. :scratchin

Ooh, those are good ideas too! I'll have to add those to the list.

Yup, it's just scrapbook paper. I glued it onto some cardboard to make it a little sturdier and then just poked the pins through. I also put a little bit of foam tape on the back to keep the pins from sliding around. Had to put it to good use since I've been such a slacker in my scrapbooking lately.

Love the shadow box Sarah! What a great idea!

Thanks!

We'll see how many pictures I can get. Should be fun!

Guess what came in the mail today???

Our Magical Express packet! Yippee!!!:banana:

Ahhhh it's getting so close!

I also came up with a couple more ideas for my photo scavenger hunt:
:cutie: A ride loading area, specifically Rock 'N Roller Coaster since it's so unique
:cutie: different angles of the park icons...I saw one in Celebrations magazine of the back of the castle with the carousel in the foreground and that was pretty cool

I know there were more but for some reason now I'm drawing a blank! I'll have to get back to you. haha

Have a good weekend!

I'd love to see the Rock 'n Rollercoaster queue since I don't plan on ever going on it! I think the limo look for the ride vehicles is so cool! I want to get ride vehicles in pictures, hopefully empty ones. I think they're so creative with even that, especially Peter Pan!

Great idea for the picture scavenger hunt. I have one to add: Luxo the lamp at Hollywood Studios. I saw him for the first time on my trip last week!

It's so exciting when the ME booklet comes. It means your trip is that much closer! If yours have come, that means mine aren't far behind!!!!!! YAY!
