Today is Tuesday August 25 our "Princess" turns 10 and to celebrate we've scheduled MK and CRT today. We get up and have a light breakfast at the house and off to MK for a marathon day of touring. We arrive at the park and we get parking in row 12 but 1 car from the end!Our MK day isn't getting off to a "magical" start as we had hoped. We take the ferry across one of my most favorite "rides" as you get to see the castle in all it's glory. There's no better sight than the first glimspe of the Castle on a clear day.As we approach the entry gate the Main St. gang starts the opening show from the train station and then here comes the train with all our "longtime friends"We enter the MK and go directly to City Hall where my daughter gets her Birthday pin and Congrtulations from 3 CM's.She's tickled pink already. We go through the Casle and we do Dumbo,Carousel,Pooh and Peter Pan before leaving to go to Splash Mountain.A little background here. I'm very and I do mean very scared of heights until our last trip I hadn't done Splash Mountain. My daughter on the other hand is the "daredevil" of our family. On our last trip she had me do Tower of Terror with her and I wasn't over that experience for some time. However this is her day and I promised we would do Splash and sit in the front. We walk on Splash at 10 a.m. with no wait at all.The ride starts and I'm trying to enjoy it.I have to be honest with all reading this I loved it!
except for the "big one" it's really not a very "scary"drop at all as you go through the attraction it's themed beautifully.Yes for all of my fellow "chicken" brethren out there,I'm telling you it's a great ride.We leave Spalsh and head over to the Castle for our 10:40 P.S. with Cindy. We have a short 3 minute wait and before the Fairy Godmother can wave her magic wand we're upstairs dining with Cindy and friends. Our waiter is Said(si-id) a very good guy.He notes that it'a special day as it's my daughters birthday(she's in a state of complete excitement at this point).Coffee and juice are quickly filled and then a Birthday card signed by Said for her birthday.Cinderella shows up and my daughter is besides herself as Happy Birthday is sung to her by Cindy and other (very kind) families in our section. The food is good as always and we meet with Belle,Snow White,Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins.WE leave and go over to P.O.C. as well as Tiki Birds , Aladdin also snuck in a Dole Whip(yum-Yum).Jungle Cruise was closed and although posted people were still trying to line up or even obtain fast passes(lol!)The heat is strong and we decide to do the Hall of Presidents(great A/C) .We stay in Liberty Square as Thunder is heard before the 3 p.m. parade. We've seen this version of the parade 3 or more times and they've cut out floats in this parade as wellas eliminated Character and audience partcipation.2 years ago my Children danced in the same parade this time they barely got a wave from Mickey(please comment on this if you've seen something similar). The parade ends and we cut through bridges and paths past the CP to Casey's where we cut through as the parade is going on to wind up at the top of Main ST next door to the Barbershop. My 8 year old wanted to get his haircut done at the MK.There are 2 stylists with 2 teenagers in their chairs and nobody else in sight as the parade is still continuing. The next thing I hear from behind is "We're ahead of you we were just outside.I'm not one to argue especially inside the "shrine of Goodness" but there's no waythis lady was in front.I keep my mouth shut and her 2 family members went in front.MY "princess) sees what others are getting and asks if she can get cut as well.Ok with Mom okay with me and now 2 of ours sit in the chair and get their hair done by the CM's.The haircuts took 40 minutes each and they both got painted Mickey's,painted hair and confetti on their heads. They both were in Mickey heaven and looked nothing like they usually d
n a side note there are 65 stylists who do hair and make-up for all the characters and Animatronic figures. My children's stylist told us they rotate jobs every so often. We head over to the Crystal Palace for a 5:30 P.S. and are seated within 10 minutes(I pity people who don't have PS's the wait was 1 1/2 hrs. long)We hit the Pink lemonade hard and have 2 glasses finished each before hitting the buffet. We have a great dinner and head over to Main ST to grab a spot for Spectro. This is where the day went downhill. It's 7:15 and Spectro is scheduled for a 8:30 start. We try to keep the kids occupied and sitting as people are looking to grab a open spot no matter what the cost.WE play name the 10 Disney movies that have one word in the Title with a CM.We get all 10 and I'm thinking a free AP for getting all 10 instead we get the Mickey stickers(LOL)As 8:15 comes the skys open up.We're hoping they'll have Spectro anyway and they do(yipee)Several floats and performers were missing, a very short parade from past Spectro showings. The rain is falling and we decide to leave the park and see Wishes from the pier over at the TTC.Bad mistake.WDW staff are usually the best at moving people from point A to B quickly and safely, not this night. We make our way to the Ferry terminal and ther's easily 2K people waiting as only one ferry is working. My wife is holding our 7 yr old when he's Knocked down by a woman who doesn't even say sorry. My daughter is pushed by a man who is smoking(where it's prohibited).WDW at this point gets the other 2 ferrys up and running but at this point, the damage is done.People are shouting and people pushing strollers are on the wrong side. WE get to the tram area where fistfights (yes I said fistfights )are nearing as their frustration is growing.Disney had one woman Security officer who got on her radio but it's a black eye in my book for WDW.Ive been to WDW in all weather, this was their worst performance by far as it relates to their transportation system.MY kids were actually shaking they were so scared. We didn't get home till 10:15 p.m.The day started on a great note only to end on a very bad experience.A first for us as far as WDW is concerned.
