WDW Without the Kids? What Were We Thinking?

Wow, do I feel like a bad parent. I simply adore going to WDW sans kids. True, mine are both grown, but we've been going w/o them for quite awhile. I love having them there, but there's just something very romantic about being in WDW with just my adorable husband. We will be celebrating our 25th at the end of May, and I can hardly wait!

Thanks for the report!

Thanks for your report. My hubby and I went to WDW last summer and had a great time. Want to go again without them. Of course our boys are not little, they are 12 and 15 and don't enjoy it as much as we do. So after our family Christmas trip this December, I will plan another one for hubby and I again.

Okay, I guess we should plan to ease our way in to trips without the kids! I guess we can start with a weekend and work our way up to the week long trip that we so desperately want! It'll be a while for us though....I've never been away from my 2 youngest overnight!

I remember the first time we left our oldest for a weekend away though...we talked about him the whole time!

We just returned from our first adults-only Disney trip and I have to agree, it was little weird at first. We ate at more sit-down restaurants then usual, and never ordered chicken fingers once. DH kept saying ,"Oh, DS would love this" and "Next time, we should bring DD." That lasted until the third day, which we spent relaxing at the GF spa with a couples massage, followed by grand tea and listening to the lobby orchestra. About that time DH turned to me and said,"The kids would really hate this." I forgot to call the kids that night. That's when i knew we were really connecting.

We have had a really terrible last 2 years, complete with the death of my Dad, the critical illness/near-death of DH, and two suicide attempts by DS.:sad1: On top of the daily stresses of living with teens and an autistic child. My kids understand that sometimes Mom and Dad need a break. They were not hurt or terribly upset. Besides, the next trip is theirs--they are planning a family DCL cruise.

Cathy & Kitt--two old fogies married 24yrs this spring :flower3:
parents to John 18, Eleni 11, and Christian 9

It was a great trip report. Just as a side note remember that Manny (as many many players and teams) came from Cleveland. So if it hadn't been for that he woundn't have won the WS ya know. We train um luv um and then can't aford them no more so we let um go and they win the big game. Hey kind of like kids a WDW with no parents. Glad you got to see him. Wonder if he would have still recieved that kind of treatment if he would still have be a Cleveland Indian. Oh well

ha ha! probably not - since he would have no WS ring - just some schmo from Cleveland!

Anyway - we went sans kids once for a wedding in Orlando. We had fun, but we missed them. We even rented a convertable. (that helped with the fun!) I think I identify WDW way too much with kids.
