We will be going to wdw this fall with a toddler and a 2 mo old. We have been going twice a year so we aren't worried about going with a newborn too much lol. If we need to we will just relax at the hotel or do half days at the park. Overall we want to take things slow but want to get away before winter hits. My question is has anyone gone with their newborn and done TS meals every day? We did one each day when ds was 8 mo old but I'm not sure this time. I love eating at wdw bc i have allergies and is my time to eat like everyone else and even ds eats better at TS.

My thought is to have TS at lunch and leave parks early or get to parks later and have TS for dinner? Just wondering what others have done in this situation.

We are arrive in 25 days with a 4 year old and a 2 month old. We do Disney every year and like you are not scared of taking the baby either. Our plan is to have a least one sit down a day that way we make sure DD4 eats and relaxes. Also I want to make sure that DS can stretch out of the stroller or carrier. We are really playing it by ear on times though. We have ADRs but I won't feel bad if we have to cancel them either.

That age was honestly one of the easiest for moving about and going out. I would schedule around your older child. Find a sling or carrier that the baby likes (mine loved the moby and spent hours in that thing) and just go for it. Use the baby care centers when you need to cool off or if you are nursing or feeding her and want some place cool.

I brought my son at 2 months, and it was great! I'm pregnant now, and planning on bringing this one at 2 months also!!!

I used the travel system, so the infant seat was attached to the stroller. That way I could just bring the infant seat into restaurants, etc. Also wore him a lot in a front carrier, especially in lines and on the rides.

Oh yeah, I also purchased a sun shade to go over the car seat for when he was in the stroller.

Have a great trip!!!

For those of you who have taken newborns, did the heat bother your baby if you went during the summer/early fall? I ask because I'm 38 weeks pregnant. We were considering doing a trip in September before I return from maternity leave. However, we nixed the idea because I was concerned about the heat and the newborn in early September. We generally go to WDW about once a year and our 4 year old has already been 5 times so we aren't really concerned about traveling with a newborn.

Thanks everyone! This makes me feel much better about the TS meals.

On a side note, we've gone several times in September but my ds just turned one. We saw a few ppl with newborns there. I think it's doable but try to get there early and leave earlier if u can our take mid afternoon break. It gets very hot in the afternoon but we took a lot of breaks when we were there in afternoon. Get snacks indoors, watch 3d movie, find inside rides. Lines were pretty short in september so that does help but you don't want to be out too long. We wouldn't have just wanted to walk around in the afternoon heat too long without finding ac.

We took our newborn the last week in September (last week of my maternity leave!!), and would get out early for rope drop, and head back to the hotel in the afternoon, and then head back out to the parks in the early evening. This is how we usually do Disney anyway, so it wasn't too much of a change!! For keeping the baby cool, I used the car seat sun cover and spray fan. Since we go so often, we just took it easy, and did it at our own pace.

I even brought my breast pump, and was able to pump and freeze, and came home with lots of frozen breastmilk! (I was building my supply for when maternity leave ended).

I would travel with a newborn over a toddler any day. ;) I found all our trips with newbies easy. I Breastfeed so I just brought diapers and wipes and that was about it! A travel system is nice and we brought a baby carrier as well for lines. I made use of the baby care centers in each park (AK and MK being the nicest I think, with HS being the worst and super cramped) for some quiet and air conditioned sit down time with baby. As babies get older they need more and more stuff so I think that 2 months and under stage is perfect for a trip!

As for the heat - stick to basic outfits (onsie and diaper, not complicated cutesy stuff) and sty in shade when you can and baby will be fine. We just didn't keep baby in the travel system too much because those get hot.

All good advice. I would NOT suggest the Moby for a trip though. One, it is a pain to get on and off with all the fabric, and Two, it gets REALLY hot. I know, I used one in Florida and once the warm weather hit it was useless. However, a Beco Gemini is a good choice or a Beco Soliel with an infant insert. Ring Slings are good too but have a learning curve so be sure to have an experienced babywearer show you how to use them.

We aren't planning on taking an infant seat but will be taking the stroller that goes with it. Is it worth taking infant seat too? I'd like to wear baby but know I won't be able to all the time. The stroller has a good sun viser but I'm wowing if it would be more comfortable during naps. I just don't want to take things we won't use.

Thanks for the advice. I have a moby and wasn't sure about taking it. I'll look into your suggestions!

There are groups and Facebook pages dedicated to babywearing to ask more questions as well. My best advice is to see if you have a baby store nearby that stocks multiple carriers to try on, or search for a Babywearing International group near you. Great resources to find what works. I seriously babywear every single day, it makes life so much easier!

As for the infant seat/stroller - I would test how baby does in just the stroller portion. I know my babies have been too small to comfortably sit in the big part until they are older and they like to face me vs facing the crowd.

one thing to remember when making table serve ressie to count the 2 month old in count as in 2 adults and toddler and infant for total of 4 people. this is true even with an infant who is not eating

We're planning the same type of trip when my (soon to be born) son is 2 months old, and I decided to book TS each night as we normally do. He's our first baby, but we figured worst case scenario we may have to cancel or rearrange times for the TS meals at the last minute. We tried to plan meals on the monorail for the most part (we're staying at BLT) for ease of transportation, but will do our best!

Good luck, and congratulations :)

We took our 2 month old son in late September/early October. The weather was hotter than usual (90's). We only planned on using the stroller (no infant seat) because of the heat. If we kept him in the infant seat portion he got too hot. But at the parks he preferred the carrier more than anything else. We have a Moby, an Ergo, and a Bjorn. That trip the Bjorn worked best. Easy to get on and off, easy to switch wearers, not too hot. We also had hats and fans to keep him cool. A couple days the heat was obviously getting to him so we just followed his cues and went back to the room. We also went to a TS restaurant every day and he was so easy! Mostly just slept in the Bjorn. A couple times I nursed him right before we went to eat so I knew he would be full and happy while we ate. I have a link to the trip report (in progress) in my siggy if you want to read about our trip.

We've been with a two month old. We didn't do Table Service - due to our barely 3 year old. The two month old would have been perfectly fine with it though!

We went at the end of May/start of June and baby was in a ring sling pretty much the entire time. It was a lightweight one so that helped a great deal. We had a stroller with full recline and great sun shade - but she didn't sit in it at all. When we went again, with her at 8 months, she did use the stroller, but only for naps. At 2 months old, she just slept in the sling.

The 2 month old slowed us down only for the excessive number of diaper changes. We really didn't have to plan around her. But the barely 3 year old was a different story! Also, if you're nursing, be prepared to need LOTS of extra water. My 2 month old did fine in the heat. I drink a lot when my nurslings are that age anyway. Add in walking and heat and I needed an excessive amount of water.
