WDW will NOT accept "codes" if you do not have the postcard.

The BWI glitch was just that, a glitch, and those should not be honored because that is an unfair way to achieve it.

Just curious how the BWI 'glitch' is different from the 'glitch' of calling 10 times until getting a CM who didn't know that they were suppose to ask for your pin code? :confused3

Either way, it's still cheating Disney's reservation system...

Can we stop with the comparisons to the BWI thing.

Actually.. can we just STOP!

All this endless arguing is just :stir:

It's pointless.

It is truly a human organizational gitch *****IF***** it is not supposed to happen this way. The BWI glitch was a well known way to "cheat" disney for a cheaper room. No one knows how to get the discount so they call up 10 times to see if they qualify, and it has happened where some cm's dont want to look up if you have discounts so they say no, and the one cm actually looks up your name and gives you it. There have been others who have called up 100 times and havent gotten the 40%, thats not a coincedence.

Im not excusing Disney's human errors, ive already stated that they handled this wrong by not explaining who gets these. The only point im trying to make is lets not call out the "moral" police for this 40% code. You cant blame people for trying to get the 40% code when 10 people a day post how they got it.

We have been around and around and around and around on these issues on this board.

Good golly. It's safe to say none of us know the answers to what Disney will or won't do in regards to this situation.

We've all been told different things from the various CMs and supervisors on the phone. There is no firm answer right now. Going around and around just serves to raise peoples blood pressure and raise anger and resentment among DISers.

Leave it be.

No it isn't. What about calling once and just asking if I can usecode ABC and being told yes. I called one time and honestly asked if I could use that code and a nice CM said she would check. She came back on and said yes I could. So that is in no way cheating anyone.

Stop arguing!

Can you all please get it through your heads - this is Disney's screw up - not any other poster on this board. If Disney cannot manage their marketing programs any better than this why should we all get crabby with each other?

This situation has nothing to do with the BW situation last year. In that case there was no CM intervention - it was an obvious glitch - you had to enter just the right info/request in just the right way - and I'm sure if you look through the Terms of Use (good luck reading that) you all agree to by using the website - you will find Disney has covered themselves for a computer glitch.

On the bottom of the page on the web site it states:
Use of this site signifies your agreement to the terms of use (and it is a link)

This situation is one where CMs have been allowed to book this for over a week - are you really going to tell me that Disney could not have put a stop to this on day one - when we got our first report that a CM said these were not for public use?

We do not know what other possible discounts may or may not be in the system - many of us - yes I said us! have called and asked about the discount - in my case the CM booked me for 40% of a AKL. After hanging up I called back because I forgot to get the conf#. The CM I spoke to was so nice that I had a conversation and asked about if I would have a problem with the discount cause I heard it needed a pin code.

She looked at my account and said - oh don't worry you have the pin on your account. We have no idea for so many of these reservations if there is or is not a pin attached - and we do not know if there is discount that does not need a pin.

It is all speculation - no matter what you here from your TA or the CM or supervisor - until someone gets the dreaded call or actually goes and uses the package we will not know.

We need to remember that this board is for discussing Disney Resorts Rates and Codes and not for legal discussions or speculation that raises hair on the back of peoples necks.

I did not want to jump into this conversation & do not by any means want to be accused of being argumentive.. but I do have a question. This code thing can possibly be a glitch as other computer glitches have been. We do not know for sure how the computers are set up. They can be set (or maybe are suppose to be set) for only allowing the next screen to appear when the pin is provided. If no pin is provided in the original phone call, then for some reason, that ressie got by without it.. meaning that that computer may not be programmed correctly.. this can explain why some call 20 times a day and then get one.. the odd's are stacked in their favor..the more you call, the more chance you have to get that computer that is not set up correctly... Is this not possible?
I also seem to think that this code thing may really have something to do with this years promo.. Magical Dreams.. wishes come true. Once again, we do not know for sure that caller number 749 on computer number 987 is going to get that 40% off rate... there are many reasons this could be happening.....and we may never really find out what the reason is.....:hourglass

I agree completely that this could have been some sort of a computer glitch, but I truly believe that Disney could have/should have stopped this in the first day of occurance. I work as a project manager in an IT department for a large insurance company and I know that any computer glitch like this can be shut down in a matter of hours - not days or weeks.

But like you said - we may never really find out what the reason is.....

Well, I am on several other boards that are disney related all of which have posts about the discount and this would be the only one where people are fighting over it LOL. It's crazy. The other boards people are giving high fives to those who got and sending pixie dust to those who didn't. Now I know that this has to be the biggest Disney board so why can't we follow suit and give some high fives and pixie dust. >waving my postcard< I will happily turn over my card to someone if it means that this fighting will stop. (Although if you get to me for Disney you also get to be me for real life including my bills and my kids) :rotfl: I hope everyone has a very disney day and that the Colts whoop some butt for the Superbowl (Im from LA so I have to root for Peyton) :yay:

I find that really strange because I booked a room in Jan. 07 for arrival Oct.07, I had no post card and received a fantastic rate of $99/night at the Port Orleans Riverside. It was a week after booking that I received the discount coupon from Disney in the mail telling me about the discounted rates at various times of the year.

I think enough has been said. I think the mods (TY Trekker) have reminded us enough.

If I were a mod... well, I would want to start handing out infractions to those who continue to find it necessary to argue...

Trekker is so right on this. First off, I have friends that work at the DRC, not those that answer the phones, and this was not a computer glitch. If and if is the big operative there was a problem, it was CM issues.

Regardless of what someone has been told, regardless of what might occur to someone's reservation, that does not mean it will happen for everyone. Disney is famous for not being consistent, so all this aruging over what they are going to do is simply wasting time.

Unless Disney does something specifically to your personal reservation then anything they do, say or don't say or do, does not affect you.

Disney is like a religion.

Some people can pray, pray, pray, and never receive miracles.

Other people, heathens even, get miracles now and then for not even trying.

Ah, so the perfect answer when someone asks "why did you get 40% and I didn't?"

"It's Disney's Will."

The priests, aka CRO's CMs, can perform minor miracles for you. Those miracles may stand the test of time or you may get struck down by a lightning the very next day.

Who knows.

I, personally, am hiding in a bunker right now until my trip.

Trekker - you must be aware that some errors are EBCAK type (Error Between Chair And Keyboard) and are not within the software or the network. EBCAKs are much harder to track down and fix and very well can take weeks to resolve. This sounds like what Disney is dealing with now ... well, that and the run on codes from the DISboards folk who are on top of everything Disney
:rotfl:

They have created an INCREDIBLE flurry of activity during the slowest times of the year for them!!!!!!!!!!! And they are filling their rooms...and we are BEGGING to fill those rooms that can go empty that time of year....AND we will be there spending $ that we wouldn't have spent IF we hadn't gotten a great deal that made this vacation ESSENTIAL for us to take!!!

THAT is some GOOD marketing!

:happytv:
