I was planning a trip for 9/29-10/6, but now that found out I'm pregnant, I'm reconsidering the whole thing. (It's a planned pregnancy, but we'd been trying for a while with no luck, so it also surprised us a little!) I'd be about 4 1/2 months along during our trip, which luckily, I think would be the easiest part of a pregnancy to make the trip, but I'm still a little unsure. The idea of travelling while pregnant doesn't bother me, but a WDW trip involves so much walking. Will I be absolutely miserable? I also know I'd be bummed that I can't ride much. But, it might be a really nice trip for dh and I to spend time with dd3 before we bring a new baby into the family, and with a new baby next year, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't go again until 2009. I live about 20 minutes from Disneyland, so I can get a Disney fix here anytime, but it's not the same as a week long experience at WDW with Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I was also excited to go to MNSSHP for the first time, and even made appts for dd and I at BBB for that day.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's done a week at WDW while pregnant. Were you exhausted, swollen and miserable, or was it not such a big deal?

GO to Disney!!!!!!!!!

I went at about 12 weeks preggo. While I was earlier than you were I was never uncomfortable at 4-5 mo preg. Swelling for me only came at the end. The walking is actually good for you to keep fluids moving in your body. I was bummed initially to get to ride my favorites but it turned out to be a different kind of trip for me. I too had my DS3 and got to really focus on him. I enjoyed all the great food...baby has to eat right?!?!?!? Lots of shops. It was nice to slow down and enjoy more of the details. You'll have plenty more ride-filled trips!! And really there's only a few things you can't ride.

PLus MNSSHP is sooo much fun to go to and dress up!!

Enjoy your trip :thumbsup2

I agree, go! It will be a great time to spend with your 3yo before her little world it turned upside down! I was 5 1/2 pg with my son for a trip and still had fun. I was not able to commando tour, but it was nice for a change to enjoy the slower pace. Just rest when you need to and drink lots of fluids. I would think that you would still be able to go on almost everything that your dd could ride. I just avoided the thrill rides. Plus, being pg gives you an excuse to eat as many Mickey bars as you want! Can't argue with cravings! Congratulations!

PS - your dd is a dolly! What a cutie pie!

Go and enjoy yourself, i will be 3 months gone when we go in 2 weeks and i have had a few problems along the way but nothing will stop me from going to Disney, not even the 4 hour journey to the airport or the 9 hour flight :scared1:

Drink plenty and take regular rests, you will be fine.

Have fun!

I vote for going too! I'll be 7 months when we go in December, and as long as things keep going smoothly with my pregnancy, we're still planning to go.

Like others have said, take it slow, take time to do some different things that you may not normally have taken the time to do. You'll be just fine!

Have a great time! :)

If your dr. says its ok, and if you are feeling good, Definately go! I've gone a few times while pregnant -- I went 3 weeks before having my son, in fact. I waddled around world, and there were still plenty of rides I could go on. Drink lots of water, take lots of breaks, and have fun! I felt like I got special treatment (lots of people gave up seats for me) too!

I would think that if you're going with a three year old, it would be great in a a way...instead of going on rides that your daughter can't go on, you can focus the trip more on doing things that SHE wants to do...like getting an autograph book and seeing some characters. You can also always go shopping at DTD, you can spend a little more time at the pool.

If Dh wants to ride the big rides, that's okay too. He can use FP, and you can take DD on a kiddie ride while he does , then you can meet up with him after. (Like at MGM, some of us take the kids to PD while othrs ride RnR. There's lots to do with kids in Tomorrowland while adults ride Space M. There's a playground and Tom Sawyer's Island by BTMRR and Splash Mtn. Using your ticket and DH's, you could get one FP for each to expedite things.

Do bring bottled water though to stay very hydrated. the great thing about WDW is that there is a abathroom every ten feet. If you can study the map ahead of time so you know where they are. If you encounter one witha line, try walking tothe next one - it may well be faster.

Congratulations!!

Definately go (if you are having a healthy and complication free pregnancy). I have been to WDW while around 12-15 weeks and again at about six months. All of the times that we've gone have been great. Being preggo the first time (I was about 12 weeks preggo and had no clue I was pregnant) we still went all out and did everything. The time when we went when I was six months preggo it forced me to actually slow down some and we enjoyed things that we had always bypassed and it was going to be the last time with just the three of us - me, dh, and ds. Since your dd is three you will be able to ride everything that she can so the only things you'll really be 'missing' out on are the rides that you would have had to use the Parent Swap for. The end of Sept. beginning of Oct. can still be pretty darn warm and humid so just make sure that you stay hydrated.

I too will be at the parks 5 1/2 months pg. I am going with my family(mom, dad, brother, and niece(8)), and my dd, who will be 20 months. DH is staying home. I am excited about the trip, but a little worried about what rides I will be able to go on. I don't plan on any of the roller coaster ones, but, I am hoping to do most of the others.

Congrats!!!

I just wanted to say that I went to WDW while I was 6 1/2 months pregnant, and no I did not get to ride Splash, Big Thunder, and Space Mtn (along with the other thrills at the other parks ) BUT it was the most fab trip I have had. I had a great time spending time with my then 2 yr old who could not ride any of those rides anyway. I felt like it was my own special time with him before his sis was born very early (2 weeks later-not because of disney) I had a healthy pregnancy until delivery. I was up early out late. You did see me with a water bottle ALL THE TIME. DO NOT GET DEHYDRATED. I was at the time walking 4 miles a day, every other day. So, I was very fit. I would suggest walking now to get stamina. If you need to rest, then rest. But I had a great time, and like I said, with DD coming early, we were at the hospital for 5 weeks with her, I was really glad I spent that extra time on rides with DS while others in our group rode the "big rides"

I hope you have a great time....

Jennifer

We went when I was 5 months pregnant with DD. We went in December so the heat and humidity were not really factors with our trip.

Basically I took things slow and avoided the thrill rides and the ones that really shake you up. Definately avoid the Stitch ride - made me sore and felt terrible the rest of the day. But really, I didn't notice problems with swelling, but I think that may be a more individual problem.

Drink ALOT, take it easy, and have fun!

Yes, definitely go! I went when I was 3 and a half months pregnant and had a great time! It was just DH and I since this was our first child! I had no problems at all! If I needed to sit and relax, we would find a spot to do that or grab a meal, snack, etc. Honestly, we had a great time and I would do it again! Yes, there are some rides you can't go on but there are many others that you can! Especially considering having this time with your dd, I would not give it a second thought!

Oh and we are going he exact same time as you are planning to go! It is our dd first trip to WDW! Have fun!:cutie: :yay:

I know you've already gotten lots of replies, but I wanted to say YES! too. I was 4 1/2 months pregnant when DH and I took our DD (then 2 1/2) to WDW for a week. We had a BLAST! The only ride that she went on and I didn't was the safari. DH went on maybe 3 rides without us. We had a great time.

We went in February, which I would assume would be similar weather-wise to Sept/Oct. so heat shouldn't be too much of a problem.

We went back to the hotel every day after lunch, both for my DD and for myself. Swimming is DIVINE when you are pregnant, so we'd go back to the hotel for naps and swimming. Other than not riding the safari, I never really felt like I was missing out on anything.

My doctor did give me a copy of my "record" from her office. Even though I looked at it and it made no sense to me, she said if for any reason, anything happened and I needed to see a doc down there, they would know how my pregnancy was going. We didn't need it, but it made me a little more comfortable traveling.

Enjoy!!!

My mom was 3 months pregnant when we went almost 2 years ago and she was fine, the only thing was she walked really slow, but she was pregnant so its was ok.

I also wanted to mention that there is a page on allearsnet.com about travelling while pregnant. It even lists the rides. It is under traveling w/special needs. I will be there mid-Oct 6 mos along:goodvibes

P.S. Mimi Maternity has summer clothes on clearance starting at 10.00.
