Clay all the way! I must say that both men have held there own the entire competition but Clay had the balls to try many different styles throughout, unlike 205 who although he has a great voice, is very one dimensional in my opinion. Ruben will be the one saying bye bye tonight as Clay becomes the AMERICAN IDOL:bounce:

Hi Jas  hope you've been well

IMHO - Clay sucked. But everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I think Clay will get the Buh-Bye - the winner will be Ruben.

Quick Good Morning before I head off to my board meeting.

I voted for Ruben last night, when I could get through which was like only twice before I fell off to sleepy-land around 11:00. Sheesh what a pain that voting system is.

Sorry kids, I must be true to myself, and this self just doesn't like Clay. I thought he did good, but it still wasn't great and I HATE Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Not his fault of course, but that really made me HATE his last song. Like hands over ears hate. Even the way cool gospel choir couldn't save it.

Clay Sucked AP? I believe that your ears may be suffering from on too many rides on RnR with your Steven baby. Ruben? Seriously? Every time that man hits a high note his voice cracks. Do we not remember the debacle he made of "If Ever Your In My Arms Again” But alas, that is your opinion and I will respect it no matter how wrong it is. Clay is by far superior;) :p

I've never been a huge Ruben fan. Thought he had a good voice, but same sound. I think he did a decent job on his first song, but , then came Clay. Clay's powerhouse voice was amazing on his first song. While a lot of people didn't like his first song, everyone agrees, he sang it amazingly.

I think both their second songs could have been better. Ruben butchered Imagine. What the hell was he trying to do????

Clay's song was good, not his best, but he didn't butcher it.

My husband came in to watch the 3rd songs. He thought Ruben did ok on the last song as did I.

When we heard Ryan say here's Clay with that 70's song, "Bridge over troubled water" we both looked at each other and said "Oh boy"

Man - did he blow Ruben away. He has a powerhouse voice that Ruben can't even come close too. He belted out that song with such emotion and heart. I've never seen Ruben do that. The only thing you see with Ruben is his hand reaching begging for that sandwich.

Everyone has their opinions - Even if you don't like Clay, you have to admit to that powerhouse voice. He was amazing.

I think I held my breath the entire song. I totally agree with Simon. That performance handed him the competition.

Now, where's my "Achin for Aiken" t-shirt. I know I unpacked it.

*a whoa - a whoa oh...*

Ok - we are back...LIVE...on *American Idol Buh-Bye*...and WOW - what performances from these men!!!

It's really hard to tell with all of your bickering who's voting who off, so far the votes for your eliminated idols are as follows:

Boss/Kimdonna/2Bemarried/Nicole/Lizzie - Ruben
AP/Jasmine - Clay

Have I got this much right so far?

*a whoa - a whoa oh...*

IMHO - Clay sucked.
What are you - deaf?!? :o

Ok - you can have an opinion that you like Ruben better and you think he will win this competition - but you can't tell me for one minute that you can not see that Clay has talent also; just as much as I am a Clay fan I will be the first to say how talented Ruben is as well - and EITHER man CLEARLY deserves to win this thing...

It all boils down to taste - not talent - both of these men have more talent in their baby finger then I have in my enitre body...

The deciding factor is what type of a singer do you like better - a Sunday Morning Gospel one or a Broadway Musical one?

Lizzie, you were that t-shirt proud and do not let anything come between you and that t-shirt;)

It's proudly on Boss!!!!

And nothing will come between me and my shirt. Except per chance, I should see Clay!!

Having studied theatre and subsequently earning a college degree in the field, I'm so bloody sick of hearing Broadway-style singing trying to infiltrate pop/Top 40 music. It sounds all muddy and showy unless it is sung on a proper stage in front of an audience. So, sign me up under the Southern Gospel category. That's real soul, real feeling, real emotion. It's sincere, without sounding like the singer is trying to pull out every trick in his bag - there's a difference between putting on a show for people and putting on a performance with the people.

I like to be entertained - I WANT that singer to pull out every trick in the bag...

there's a difference between putting on a show for people and putting on a performance with the people.

Ohh....so I guess what your saying then is that Justin Guarini should have won over Kelly Clarkson; since he was CLEARLY the better performance person - all she had was a voice (now I know who voted for him)

Wow AP -

That's how I feel about all the gospel sounding performers trying to get cross over to top 40 as well. Ruben does have a nice voice, but I can only picture him singing in front of his church choir. Can't see him pulling off a top 40/pop kind of thing.

I think both men will have fabulous recording contracts and careers. I just wouldn't buy a CD by Ruben. Not my kind of sound.

You must have been watching a different show, if you're saying Clay is insincere. Watch his performance again. There was lots of emotion there. He doesn't need to pull anything out of his bag. He's just got it.

I know what you mean about Ruben putting on a show for people. He tries to come across as a performer, but he just can't cut it.

And nothing will come between me and my shirt. Except per chance, I should see Clay
Once again, need I remind you of my striking resemblence to Clay;)

AP, no emotion when Clay sings? That is like saying that Steven doesn't scream when he sings:rolleyes:

No no no no no no no.... I didn't say Clay didn't have emotion... he tries too hard to "put on a show" for people, but it actually distances him from his audience. He's too showy - which is perfect for Broadway.
Ruben puts on a more personal performance - he's right there with you and is much more personable... there is no "wall" between him and his audience.
But what some people forget is that everyone has a different taste - a different preference, so I'm not trying to make anyone agree with me. How boring would that be?
-AP

I must humbly agree with AP (an no I am not Butt-kissing or yes-personing, nor am I doing this to just be disagreeable with others), she simply stated what I would have and why should I have to just type the same stuff. Anyway... I for one LOVE southern gospel. So now we are seeing where our difference of opinions come from. :D

Sorry I missed this earlier...Hi Boss:wave:

But what some people forget is that everyone has a different taste - a different preference.

No - YOU forgot that - we all agree that Ruben HAS talent, and that it boils down to personal taste...YOU said Clay sucked?!? Jas is 100% right - it is a difference of opinion - not that one or the other has no talent...

Granted we have been razzing one another on our fav's throughout this show - that just makes its fun...but I for one can not deny EITHER of these men of the talent that they possess...I had years of experience in theatre/Broadway myself and just like Opera, I may not personally like Ruben's style but at least I can appreciate the undeniable talent that the man has....I wish others around here would be honest enough to say the same about Clay...

Yes Clay is good in that broadway, overacting, eye-flittering, Ryan Seacrest flirting way.

Somehow I don't think that is what you had in mind

bwaaaahhhaahhhaaaaa

For a guy that sucks, Clay will be cashing in tens of millions of dollars throughout his career as a professional singer. I wish I could suck that bad.:smooth:
