I wish I had. I loved that musical. Tried to get to it, but it seems like I was always pregnant. (my last two are two years apart) Then we moved to NJ from Long Island and haven't made it back to NY since.

I did see the HBO telecast of it with David Hasselhoff. He surprised me. He was very good.

That song "This is the moment" has such a vocal range to it. I think Clay would be perfect to sing it.

Oh that's too bad!! It was, I daresay, better than Phantom. I don't know why they closed the show, but it did have a pretty long run.

I have the Hasselhoff version on DVD and he wasn't too bad...but definitely not as good as the two I saw live.

Clay would be unbelievable in a musical and I almost want him to fail on this pop thing, just to see him go on stage.

Hey, maybe an upcoming category will be Broadway show tunes??!

OT -

Where did you find the DVD? I would love to have it.

I saw Phantom twice and loved it. Then I saw Les Mis and I dare say I liked that better. Can you picture Clay singing Jean ValJean solo , I'm not sure of the name, but it starts "GOD on High".

UGH. Sorry I've been away. Have the flu and haven't been on the computer much.
So...my take on last night.

Kimberly - she does start off slow but I think she blew them out of the water again. I giver her kudo's...think she's great

Clay - ahhh..my dear hometown boy....ROCKED!! He's so amazing and Simon's comments just make me laugh. Loved the grandmother with her southern drawl.

Trenyce - ICK! go buh-bye

Josh - I like him...but he STUNK!!! I couldn't believe he did that poorly. If he didn't have such a huge fan base..I would say that he's getting kicked.

Carmen - still don't like anything she sings. It's the goat voice.

Ruben - he did absolutely NOTHING for me last night. I normally like him...but the whole "You....You"....got really old, really fast.

So my bottom three are
1. Carmen
2. Josh
3. Trenyce

Trenyce will go home b/c I think Carmen has a bigger fan base, as does Josh. I would love to be wrong though and see Carmen hit the road. Can't stand her voice.

Regarding Clay on Yonge Street (Canada's Broadway) I think it would be awesome to hear him sing 'He Lives in You" from the Lion King. I thought that that was the most powerful part of the show and I'd bet anything that Clay would nail it.

Im sorry - I cant say anything right now...Im still ROTFLMFBO

at the "Hasselhoff version on DVD and he wasn't too bad" comment...

are you sure we are talking about the same Hasselhoff?!? The Nightrider/Baywatch loser?!?

Geez...I guess you guys have yet to hear his rendition of "Hooked on a Feeling"?!? (complete with him *flying*- literally in the video?) I use to LOVE that song 'cause of Reservoir Dogs...the man DESTROYED that song for me...:p

BTW - Im still waiting on Jwill (what else is new)...

Have you seen it???

I thought the same thing about him, but he blew me away. Really surprised me. I wouldn't judge him on that performance of Hooked on a feeling . Anyone can have an off performance. Take a look at Josh.

Oh that song from Les Mis is called Bring Him Home.....you know the more I think of it...screw this AI stuff....Clay needs to go to Hollywood. Besides, the pop market is fickle and filled with too many has-beens and one-shot-wonders in the prime of their singing careers. Who ever said a pop singer is more prestigious anyway?

Lizzie, you can order the DVD here: J&H DVD
Do you have all the CD's??

I know Madonna, when I heard that Hasselhoff took this role at the end of their long run on BW, I cringed too. But the strength of the songs, the story, the sets and the great cast around him sort of helped ol Dave elevate himself off the lifeguard chair, away from the Trans Am and he did a decent job. I think it must be said, though, that the show closed immediately after he took the role.

Yeah - but then there was that concert of his...(was on TV the exact same time as the OJ chase...remember???)

That was horrible also...Im not doubting that he was good...but it would just take me a lot to fork over 100 bucks to see the guy on Broadway after the first two times I heard the guy's attempt to sing is all...

OT - yes, I have all the CD's. I buy them when I see a show because the songs are just amazing. I find myself getting choked up at these shows just listening to the songs. Kind of what Clay does. I just choke up when I hear him and it just happens. Not controllable.

I believe they had announced the closing of Jekyll and Hyde before Hasselhoff started the role. I remember thinking I had to get to it before it closed, then I heard it was Hasselhoff.

Like I said before, I think he did a good job. Thanks for the link OT. I must say, I think he did a better job, than Toni Braxton as Belle. Yuch.

Don't tell me I am the only person who appreciates Baywatch for what it is... I used to watch it religiously and still catch it every now and then. Am I admitting too much here?
Wish I had one of those red bathing suits.

*a whoa - a whoa oh...*

I didn't see Hasselhoff live, but I might have hesitated when I heard that he was playing the lead too. I saw the original cast when they first opened with Linda Eder and Robert Cucciolini and then a couple years later with....believe it or not, heavy metal man Sebastian Bach of Skid Row, who was fantastic. BTW Sebastian did well enough to go on to play Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar in a national tour.

Oh yeah AP...I've watched Babe Watch too....but it was mostly for the superior acting and imaginative storylines.

Babewatch question -

What I want to know is what did Yasmine Bleeth do to her nose? Looks like she's had some bad nose jobs lately. She looks completely different than she did on Baywatch.

Oh - GO CLAY

Maybe she was hanging around with the Jacksons? I hear they have a family account with their plastic surgeon.

Man,

Aren't there any good plastic surgeons out there?

Ok so I just spent an hour downloading all the videos and judges comments from all of Clay's performance on AI2.

This guy hasn't missed a note in all of his performances. He has such strength behind his voice.

Maybe he would be better off not winning AI2. He would serve us all better not doing pop music and singing real music.

I tried to stay out of it but there was just one too many David Hasselhoff mentions. I remember seeing him at my concert in LA, all dressed up in his Elvis get-up asking if he could join me on a number. All I kept picturing was Snaper from the Young and the Restless (my sister used to watch it);)

Seriously, it would probably take four or five cognacs in me to see him as being good in a play. Since I have not seen him for myself I will trust your opinion of Michael Knight.

I agree, Clay shouldn't worry about winning. He's destined for Broadway and white lights.I'm stuck in the parallel thread.
