OK…now we’re getting nasty :)
You’re right…Canada is the best at amateur hockey…but what happens with the NHL…I mean you do have the Canadiens (the most dominant team in Canada) Flames, Senators (if they can stay in business), Canucks, Oliers…and oh yeah, the Maple Leafs…but what about all the other teams (Winnipeg, Quebec…etc) :p
Face it, the Stanley Cup is now American! :p (We just loan it to the hockey hall of fame in Toronto) :)

BTW…Madonna…too bad about the Blow Jays getting crushed tonight! Go Red Sox!
:)

May I take this moment to remind you that if it weren't for Canada - you guy's wouldnt even have a cup to celebrate?!?

Plus - last time I checked...the BEST hockey player was Canadian...
I mean you do have the Canadiens (the most dominant team in Canada)
Ok - now 'dem fighting words...

Now this is a debate :)
Madonna, dear…who pray tell is the best hockey player?
I would say that Brett Hull is pretty dominant…and he’s American…

And as for the Habs comment…I go strictly by the number of Cups won…and the Falling Leafs just don’t measure up :)

Sorry…:p

Higgs my dear - come on now...

first of all - Brett Hull has dual citizenship (but he's originally Canadian, I actually met Bobby Hull - his dad once...)

But who cares - Im not talking 'bout him anyhow...

...Does the number 99 mean anything to you?!? :p

As for the Canadians....yeah but, but, but...ok you win this one...the Leafs have totally sucked the past 33 years...

OK, give me OTs points to hold for him till he gets back from hiatus. I don't have any of my own, (although I should) so I won't get them confused.

And I PROMISE I'll give them to him whenever he asks me nicely for them.

Ummm…Madonna
1) Bret Hull does have dual citizenship…but he chose to play for the US
2) I will admit 99 was pretty good…but he is long retired…and in fact I know this is going to hurt…he is working for an American team…Phoenix…and since he married an American…that makes him part American as well…

Cheer up…at least you HAD Wayne for a while :)

Hey, I remember 99. That was a great show. That Don Adams was soooo funny. And Barbara Feldman was HOT. Is she Canadien?

How about those Blue Jays? The Yanks swept them on the road to begin the season.

And the Habs used to be great. They're just a sad franchise now, living on past glory.

Yeah...chose to play for the US and LOST for the Olympics....loser...

I dont care what team 99 was playing for - point is that he was born in Brantford, Ontario...and marriage? What the heck does marriage have to do with hockey??!?

You will have stated your point when and IF ever someone beats records set by *our GREAT one...*

as for baseball - oh Im sorry did the Red Sox win back-2-back World Series titles? Cause I totally missed that...:smooth:

hey Mlcar - please PM your vote as to wheather or not OT should be allowed to keep his points!!! :D

OK…you have me there on the Red Sox…the Blow Jays did win 2 titles…

But you better pray that the Jays win tonight…because…I will be constantly reminding you in they are beaten (and they surely will be) by the mighty Boston Red Sox :)

Let me toss my 2 cents worth out here. Brett Hull is a great player but a pure shooter. To be dominating in my opinion you should have to excel in other areas as Wayne did, he totally revolutionized the play behind the net and was dominant in many other areas also. being a devout Kings fan I may be biased here but a good case could also be made for Gordie Howe also.

Hey Higgs - did you read what Jwill said? :p

ah yes....Wayne's glorious days of being a King...but let's not go there - that's when that *bleepin, bleep bleeping GREAT one* knocked us out of the playoffs, all because the ref was scared to call 5 minutes on the Great One for drawing blood on our Gilmour....but hey - like I said...let's not go THERE...

Sorry Higgs but the only reason that Brett was on Team USA was because he could not cut the Canadian line up.

Now, as for your Bosox, does the name Bill Buckner ring a bell. Oh wait, what about Mookie Wison, sound familiar. Oh, there was that pitcher Roger something (starts with a C ) he left the Sox and joined the Jays. Oh and the curse of the Bambino. I could go on for hours but AI starts soon.

Hockey, if you have all day I can tell you about the Canadian game and our dominance.;)

Boss...with that, you have just lost my support for WDWWDS membership...you don't tease a Red Sox fan like that :)
(We know we suck...but we are ever optimistic...we like the pain!)

Thanks for bringing back the pain :)

Anyway...let me be the first to weigh in on American Idol...not a bad show...my man Ruben stole the show again (and wins extra points for losing the "205" shirt :)

Anyway...here is my vote...
Bye-bye...Carmen!!!

There I've said it...Carmen can now go back to high school...she's all done

american_idol.gif

Ok OT...last night...Randy said that "you did great dawg you should get the points" and that you "made them your own"

Paula said "give him the points ‘cause I'm sure he's still devastated about Julia" and "...this competition is all about point selection and you did just that, you deserve them!"

Hades - our celebrity judge said, " You know OT, I haven't been this choked up since I got a hunk of moussaka caught in my throat!" and "A stirring performance, OT. I was really moved. Give him his points, (but leave them in trust with me.)"

Simon Cowel said "I mean OT points were alright, but so what?" and "If mean if he gets the points then I should too"

Well OT....the AI players have voted...

...and decided that we will have to find out the results...

after this important water break...:smooth:

Oh yeah - Actually - I could have voted off 4 tonight:

Kim L
Kim C
Trenyce
and Carmen...

(yep Im being sexist...but I don't care..the women ALL sucked tonight...)

It should be the *bottom 4*...I mean Celine is bad enough on her own with those tunes..but wow...talk about butchering a song...and Kim C - man I didn't think that anyone could sing that song worse then Bryan Adams!!!)

But all in all...Carmen was the worse...she has my vote buh-bye too...

Oh and Jas - I thought Josh was awesome tonight!! He TOTALLY made the comeback for me!!

...and finally - Ricky was GREAT! (not to sure if that Diana Ross comment was a compliment or not...but whatever....he was super...)

And as usual Clay and Ruben kicked butt!! :D

JOSH IS BACK I thought he did great. And he had all his energy back!!! I really did enjoy his performance.

Clay - I know you all are fans of his, but the pink lip gloss has got to go. Also he really needs to change up what he is singing. I don't think the American Idol should be so "theatrical". I don't know he is starting to wear on me.

Kimberly L. - As much as I am sick and tired of that song, I think she did a really great job. She has been getting better and better every week.

Rickey - I thought he did awesome. How hard is it to get up in front of Lionel Ritchie and sing a song of his? Extra points for that! But Dawg lose that hat. On the other hand his jacket was awesome as were the glasses. I think he has an awesome personality, and I still say he's another Wayne Brady.

Josh - Well come on, if it's country he can pull it off. I would like to see something not so Country, but wow he does Country great and while he may not be the American Idol, Nashville's eyes and ears are open and I'm sure they are all ready fighting over him.

Kimberely C. - GAG what was she thinking. It was terrible. I hated it.

Carmen - Another ick. I like the song and she killed it. I can sing it more bad girl like than she can, and that is saying a lot. ;)

Trenyce - She did OK but I just don't like her. Another Celine Dion song. Come on people you have 40 years worth of songs to pick from.

Ruben - Didn't he look great in his non-205 clothes. That is what I have been waiting for!!! He is going to win. I loved it.

I think I covered everyone.

Bottom three:
Carmen
Trenyce
Kimberly C.

This is a really tough one because all three of them should be booted. But I think I, too, am going to have to go with Carmen.

Oh where oh where to begin....

Kimberley C. needs to stop picking man songs. She's a woman, she should sing woman songs, that's just MHO. So, she sucked.

Kimberley L. butchered a song that I love. I'll admit it - I'll stand tall and admit that I love Celine Dion, though I never subject her music to anyone else - I know that's just wrong. But back to Kim L's performance - she didn't have the range to do it and she blew it.

Clay - I'm tired of him. He bores me - it all sounds the same so I just kind of glaze over and become unconscious when he sings.

Ricky - Eh. Sounded a little odd. I didn't like it, but I don't think anyone should sing a celebrity judge's song.

Carmen - Dear, poor Carmen. Buh-bye. That was awful and I hope Debbie Harry kicks her *** for slaughtering an awesome song.

Trenyce - Ick. I didn't like it. Sure, she can belt, but singing isn't all about belting.

Josh - Why didn't he audition for Nashville Stars? That's the show he belongs on - this is the search for America's next great Pop Star. He is not a Pop Star. He's got talent, yes, but this is the wrong show for him.

Ruuuuuuuubeeeenn - Oh honey his voice is like buttah. Love the wardrobe change. He will win.

My bottom 3 - Carmen, Kimberley C., Kimberley L.

My vote for the next Idol to go buh-bye - Carmen.

-AP

I truly think that it should come down to Ruben and Clay...between them - I don't think that I would be upset if either wins (they are both AWESOME in their own way...)

But quite honestly - It wouldn't surprise me if Josh won (after his version of *Celebration* I don't think that Kryptonite could stop him....)

Jas - I agree that Clay is *theater like* - but so what? In the same token I could say that Ruben is *Barry White like* (...it's been done before - so, big deal) Personally I am REALLY tired of the judges picking on certain contestants for picking the same songs (they ALL do this...it would be better if they were TOLD what songs they HAD to sing...)

But...I do think that Clay should still be the *American Idol* - why????

Because - dare I say it??? He is EDUCATED!!! (If I see one more Grammy or MTV award show with someone as dumb or slurring their words as "Avril Lavigne" or "Pink" up there to accept an award I think I'm going to puke...!!)

...doesn't anyone else here in the WDWWDS notice that Clay is always the one speaking on the contestants behalf? Fox always asks him to talk because the guy always has something intelligent to say (unlike "dawg" or "made it your own"...) and IMHO - an American Idol should be an all around American Idol, good in all aspects... (or else they should let stupid Corey back in...)

I for one, would just like to see someone accept a Music Award and not start their speech with something like "dis is da bomb y'all..." or my personal favorite "I WILL hit someone with glasses..."

IMHO - today's day in age, teenagers could use a *goody-goody* role model...

You're on to something, Madonna. Perhaps that's why Simon is so strangly obsessed with Carmen. She's wholesome and pure (but can't sing a lick) and just the type of person young girls should model themselves after. Except for the fact that she can't sing.
Personally, and maybe this is because I'm from the South, all the talking that Clay does grates on me. It's his drawl - I can't stand a drawl and so it annoys me to hear it. I spent a few years with voice coaches in order to get rid of my drawl and it worked, I'm drawl-free... it's just a stigma that I pick up on.
-AP

rotfl...I guess it's 'cause I am from the North AP - but I LOVE the drawl...lol

yep - I agree about Simon...do you remember during the auditions when he said to some young girl (hey maybe it was Carmen?!?) "Beautiful voice, and thank you for not dressing like that s*ut Christina Aguleria...don't do that, don't follow her..." I was D-Y-I-N-G...because it's SO true!!!
