WDW water parks: full of Disney magic or just a nice way to cool off?

Thanks for this. I wasn't expecting it so quick. Morning news made it sound like one of those it'll be awhile breaks.

I wonder if they were referring to Summit Plummet and/or Slush Gusher. Those attractions were both closed for refurb but supposed to re-open on 4/23. It may have been an extension of those closures that they were referring to(?).

With so many WDW vacation costs escalating the water parks were first to go from our plans.

I rather liked it when you could buy a 5 or 6 day parkhopper pass with 3 or 4 bonus admissions... so in a 7-8 day trip we'd go to the water parks 2 or 3 days in the morning and to the theme parks the rest of the time.

Disney water parks are very clean and well themed. We have Noah's Ark in the Dells but us and it's a cesspool in comparison.

I can see both sides of the go/don't go debate. For what it is worth, I've a great many WDW visits under my belt, but just 2 WDW water park visits, both fairly recent. Truly, I bought the tickets years ago!

I like the comment about WDW pools! They are super! We love them, and they are all very fun. Many offsite pools are equally fun! Some trips, it is hard to squeeze in the time. Other trips, the weather doesn't cooperate. Most trips a fun pool is plenty!

To answer the question in your title: our first visit was high summer. We went 11am-closing. Lines, but not too bad. We did everything. theming is more fun than other water parks, but still just a water park. IMO, the WDW theme parks are more unique.

Our 2nd visit was just two hours. It was the only day we could go, and an unseasonably warm winter day. Our only real wait was Crush and Gusher, we covered most the rides at TL, except the shark reef. (takes a while + chilly water)

We found it best to minimize what we brought! If you don't bring anything, then you don't need to hunt for your stuff later. We didn't need towels, though full confession- we drove. We only took the car key (minus the FOB) zipped in a waterproof swimsuit pocket. We were mostly dry before we reached the car. WDW sells lockers, but there's a wait. You also lose time hunting for your spot.

Wear water shoes! (water slippers!) You feet will thank you! Barefoot is a bit icky. Shoes also = endurance! For us, concrete (all day) and bare feet = sore feet. We paid the price for the rest of the week! Try (a place like) Kmart for under $10 a pair. Well worth the $! Happy feet= happy WDW!

Hello and thanks to those who responded to my earlier thread re: water park vs. DHS or Epcot. Now considering adding one day to go to BB or TL, but it will cost me $300+ for admission alone! The 4 Disney parks are so great for so many reasons... Characters, staff, theming, etc etc and I'm wondering if the water parks are like that? I want to feel like I'm really at Disney! Any input???

Where are you staying? If it's in a deluxe resort, especially the yacht or beach club, you might just love the pool at your hotel. If not, have you thought about aquatica? It's the same price as WP&M feature from disney, and if you buy an annual pass for one of your party members ($108) there are savings on everyone else's tickets. Or, right now, seaworld has a buy an annual pass and get aquatica's free option. Ooooorrr, discovery cove is over the top the best water park I've been to. No rides, but flat out the coolest thing.

In november We had fun Time at Typhoon Lagoon. I am afraid of big drop and i relax on one of the benches at the Wave pool and looooove the Sharks reef! We done castaway also but with My condition i can't rest In the 'doughnut' and just sit straight in it.

The décor is beautiful and it's à great escape from Disney all over. But is better to use water park if you stay more Then 9-10 days. With just 7 days We use the resort pool.

Question about Lodge Umbrella Rentals:

We plan to visit BB/TL on 3 half days (open till early afternoon). Is it worthwhile to get a lodge umbrella rental for those three visits?? My kids are 8 and 4 and it would be our first time visiting these waterparks.

TIA!

I'm doing it for our upcoming trip. It can be really hard to get shaded seating.

My boys, 9 & 3, love water parks (think Great Wolf Lodge and Kalahari). Which park do you think they would like more? No one in our family, including my 9yo likes big slides. Would mostly be small slides and wave pool.

We go every trip as part of our one day not in the major parks. We're in a different situation. We added the water parks option to our ten day non expiring tickets a few years ago. Each visit is only about $6/person per day which make it an easy choice for a half day visit.

Both parks are well themed. I would suggest TL
