WDW w/o the Kids???

I'm sure you and your wife are happy doing whatever works for you. While I still choose to disagree, I think what everyone took most offence to was your use of the word "squandering". I would imagine most of the people that reacted negatively to your post were wives/mothers who would be offended to hear our DH's imply that time with us alone wasn't worth it. Unfortunately, sometimes 1 poor choice of wording in a post can touch a nerve in others reading it and cause others to react quickly not knowing the true intent of the poster. A flaw of discussion boards all over.

I agree...just a poor choice of words, people! Leave the poor guy alone now!

I agree that couples need to take time away, but for me and my DH, it would never be to WDW. Not that I wouldn't love the freedom, but I would constantly miss our children somewhere like that! DH and I do get away, but we try to go places that we wouldn't want to take young kids...romantic coastal retreats, fast paced ski trips where we want to do only advaced runs, etc. It makes us appreciate it more. That said, if I was fortunate enough to go to WDW 4-5 times a year, as another poster stated, that would be different.

And I do understand what the pp said...even though DH and I like getting away, we make more precious family memories when everyone is there. (However, I don't believe that kids will suddenly dislike vacationing with their parents at a certain age. That's not necessarily true. I plan to have many years of trips with my adult kids too!)
