Day 3-- Thurs 3/11

Today DS and I were going to use the "pluses" on our hoppers and go to TL. The morning was bright and sunny, but it was still alittle chilly. I was really leary, but decided to give it a shot. The forecast called for it to be clear and warm. We had to switch hotels today too. The plan was for DH to drop us off at TL at 10 am then come back and get us at 1:30 to go check out of the Sheraton. They were offering late check-outs in apology for the water main break they had the day before. It caused the water to be out for a few hours in the morning.

I have never been to a Disney water park. I LOVED TL. I could spend a whole trip there. The theming was so serene. It was relatively uncrowded, so that probably helped some. The day was warming quickly. DS and I had snagged loungers in a great spot near the wave pool. We never waited for more than 3 people on any slide. However, we spent most of our time in the wave pool. We were 2 of only 6 people at the shark reef. When we got across they let us sit on the ledge and the stingrays and sharks were swiming right up to us. Now this was a magical moment!!!! DS didn't care for the snorkel gear and said he wouldn't do this attraction again. We went and had lunch and bought some "sand toys". DS is really at that inbetween stage. One minute he's still just a kid, the next he's acting more teen like. I guess that's what happens at 11. Anyhow, I relaxed on a chair for awhile just soaking up the sun while DS made a sand castle. This place was really empty, and we didn't want to leave. I tried calling DH to see if he could just handle checking out himself, but I couldn't reach him. So, we reluctantly packed up and headed to the parking lot to meet DH.

We get to the parking lot and there's MIL and DH standing outside the van waving for us. Yeah-- I see ya-- just trying to pretend I don't!! Anyhow, first thing DS says-- "mom, she still hasn't changed her clothes". That's when I notice MIL is wearing her slippers and the same clothes from the day before. (Yuck!!). And whats w/ the slippers????

Anyhow, DH already had the van loaded. I just need to go back to the hotel and check out. Why he wasn't capable of doing this I don't know.

Anyhow, we go try and check in at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird. It's about 2:30 pm. They hold firm to the 4pm check in time. I tried to shmooze the girl for a "good" room. I don't think it worked. If it did--- then this place is really a dump. I posted a full review of this hotel on the Orlando attractions board. Needless to say MIL requested a room right next door to us-- ugh!! She then suggested to DH that he give her our spare room key. That was gonna be the bottom line. Wasn't happening!!

We decided to go to lunch while we waited for the 4pm checkin time. We went to Ponderosa. Her MIL did secure a doggie bag. I think she intentionally loaded her plate, then decided she was full. Please note I don't approve of this tactic to save money at all. On top of it, she was already saving enough w/ her I'll catch you later for this scheme!!

Back at the hotel DS and I decided to swim for awhile, the water was really warm which was great. Then it was off for an evening trip to SuperWalmart. I raved about TL soo much DH decided he wanted to go now, but that meant MIL was coming too!!!!!!!!!!

So glad you had a wonderful time alone with DS, hopefully your mother in law got enough of her son for the day and won't start trouble anymore. Yeah right!

God Bless you! It sounds like your MIL and my MIL are related. The thing that thas me most frightened reading your posts is that we are going to WDW in May with my MIL and FIL. Yipee!

Sounds like you and DS had a great day, finally. Poor hubby though.

WOW am I Lucky!!! We went to WDW last Oct. with my parents AND his parents! My mom misbehaved a little, and MIL kept saying "This is my vacation and I'm sleeping until 10:30, like I do at home!" She never did, and was usually ready when we were, but otherwise we had a wonderful trip and will do it again sometime in December 2005!

(my mom & step-dad had their own studio at OKW and we shared a 2BR OKW with MIL, FIL & BIL.)

I'm glad you discovered TL! We love it there, despite how I hate the thought of the world viewing me in a bathing suit all day.

Your MIL in slippers, waving from the parking lot is quite a visual!

I wonder what DH's trip report would be like.
He never got to spend anytime enjoying the vacation w/DS.
This is something he will wish he hadn't missed when DS is grown.

Actually I was afraid for awhile that he would read my trip report. Only once in a blue moon does he log onto this site. I wasn't sure how he'd react. I only printed the facts!!! He has actually been really good since we got back, he's apologized close to 2 dozen times, and has promised a return trip w/o MIL (of course) whenever I want.

Im so glad you and your son were able to have some nice time together. I feel bad you could not enjoy more of your husband company. I know it would bother me.
