WDW vets: Is this possible?

I bought our WDW tickets thru Undercover Tourist, and got 3 free days w/ our 3 day passes. I hate the idea of wasting days, so I'm trying to make use of at least one of the extra days. Our flight gets into Orlando at 4:30pm on Dec 7, and I had the thought of trying to go to Epcot that night, since it's open the latest and we won't be going our 3 main days, and just walk around, maybe see the fireworks, possibly even the Candelight Processional? I have no idea how long it will take to get from the airport to the hotel (on WDW) so I don't know if this is possible. Any thoughts?

It's definitely doable - depending on where you are staying it might be easier or not - but still you should be able to make it to Epcot by 7 at the latest - most likely earlier.

We allow 90 minutes from touch-down at MCO to arrival at our WDW resort -- so you *should* have plenty of time to get over to Epcot to stroll around even if the trip takes longer. It's unrealistic to expect to get into CP (although you can still see/hear it from outside the theater), but it should be a lovely way to spend your first evening!

If you want to save as much time as possible you can always take a car service from the airport to your Disney Resort. That can shave a nice chunk off of your time. The service below charges $110 round trip:

I used Tiffany Town Car on our last trip. I will continue to use them as they saved me about 1 Hr 20 Minutes.

If you're staying at a WDW resort, you'll be able to participate in the Extra Magic Hours at the MK that night. Based on the schedule posted a wdwinfo.com: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dec09.cfm?requesttimeout=1000 that park will be open for EMH from 8:00 until 11:00 p.m.

Thanks for all of the responses. We are staying at the Doubletree that is in WDW but is NOT a WDW resort, so we can't use their transportation. The hotel said a cab is about $50, so the car service sounds great. Why does it save so much time, though?

It saves time from taking the Magical Express.

With your own transportation you can jump in a cab as soon as you hit the ground and go straight to your resort. With Disney transportation you have to wait till the bus is full before pulling out of the airport. Then the bus stops at a few different resorts dropping guests off.

Taking your own transportation can save you anywhere from 30-90 minutes, not to mention the comfort of a private car. Also on the way back to the airport from your resort the Magical Express picks you up 3 hours before your flight. While its understandable that Disney want's to cover their behinds, 3 hours is a little excessive. Another reason to take your own transportation.

Also, I have used Tiffany Town Car before and the service has been excellent.
