We have been to WDW oodles of times. But we were just offered a 2 day vacation at Disneyland by my DH's uncle (his treat!!! ). We are looking to spend 2 days there around Wed. June 20 - Tues. June 26. The dates are flexible. I'm not sure where to start! We need two nights hotel and 2 days of tickets. I'm a AAA member so we would be eligible for any discounts that might get us.

What are the advantages of on property vs. off? Only onsite availability during our stay was 6/22 for 2 nights but that puts us in the parks on Fri, Sat or Sun.

What days are best to go to the parks? Or is it just crowded everyday this time of year?

What offsite hotels would be best?

If it helps, we will be 4 people traveling. Two adults and two elementary school age kids.

We stay onsite. Onsite gives you Vacation Planning services for dining reservations and gift baskets. On site also will allow you EE days if they are offered the dates you will be visiting. It allows you not to leave the magic.

Being that it will be summer, I don't know what would be slowest out of those days but my guess would be that Saturday will be the busiest. Maybe Tuesday - Thursday would be the least busy.

As far as off site hotels, I have stayed at the HoJo which was fine but a long walk after a long day and the Coast Anaheim which has since been renamed but I wouldn't stay there again. I have heard terrific things about the Candy Cane Inn. You won't find them on places like Expedia and such. Their addy is www.candycaneinn.net

Thanks for the info about the HoJo distance. I was looking at that one but now think it might be too far for the little ones after a long day at the park. I'm checking out the BW Park Place Inn right now since it looks to be the closest place. From the charts referenced in Hydroguy's post it is a 1/4 mile closer than the HoJo.

I just finished reading Hydroguy's WDW vet post and it was a big help.

We stayed there in 2005, very nice rooms, quick walk to the parks and a decent free breakfast.

We loved being right on the crosswalk to the parks. See photo.....Carousel has the grey window tower.
