WDW under 6000.00?

Hi everyone. I am new to this & was wondering if I can get some advice from you experts out there. I grew up going to DL all my life & am very use one park & two hotels. We are going to try & plan a trip to WDW. This will be the first for all of us & I am a little intimidated with 5 parks & all the water parks, plus what is it? 15 hotels to chose from? It is a little confusing for me. I have been reading a lot on the boards for advice. My question is, is there any way I can do it for under $6000.00? It is me, DH, & 3 DD's. I live in Colorado so the airfare alone will be almost 2000.00. I would also like to stay at a deluxe hotel if I can. But all these codes & everything is confusing me. Hwo do you know which code is best? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Under $6000?? Most definitely

I suggest purchasing a book called Walt Disney World PASSPORTER. You can find it at your local bookstore. It is a great way to get yourself educated. It is easy to follow, has good information, and is not overwhelming. Plus it serves as a travel planner while you are on your trip!

These boards are a great resourse too, but for a newbie things can get a bit confusing.

I think the first step is to decide when to go. Time of year will affect the amount of money you spend. For example, September or January will be cheaper than April or May.

First of all, can you give us a little more info.

When are you going? The time of the year can make a big difference.

How long will you be staying?

Will you want to eat out at sit-down restaurants, cook in your room (if your room has kitchen, etc.)?

$400 a ticket seems high for flights...Check Orbitz.com or Travelocity.com, those are my first options when I start looking for flights.

Mousesavers.com is an excellent resource for codes, prices and the explaination of both.

How many days?

How old are the girls?

Are you eligable for any discounts? (AAA, Disney Club Member, willing to buy at least one Annual Pass, Teacher, Govt. Worker, etc)

I recommend getting at least one (preferrably more) WDW guidebook. I like Bob Sehlinger's Unofficial Guide to WDW and Jennifer Watson & Dave Marx's Passporter, though there are several more that I am sure are good too.

These boards are incredible. Be specific when asking questions. Start new threads when you have a new question, because often, the subsequent question gets overlooked in the original thread.

Get a notebook and start keeping track of tips.

You could also look into the travel agencies like Dreams Unlimited. It's run by the folks here, and they've got a great reputation for getting you the best deal for which you are eligable.

With some strategic planning, your family could most definately have the vacation of your dreams at WDW for under $6000.
