WDW Transportation Basics

I need to stay at the conference hotel for the first few days. My accommodations are paid for and my spouse stays with me for free so it would be a waste to book a Disney hotel for those days. My spouse is very capable of using Apple Maps as a guide.

Another important piece of information might be that we live in Los Angeles. We don't have two miles of uncrowded roads anywhere!
If you can drive and navigate LA and it's traffic, you will be fine at WDW! The Grand Cypress is not far from property at all, it's not a difficult drive onto Disney property. It's very well marked, Disney knows a majority of it's guests are not staying on property. Any of the map apps will work fine, use whatever one you are most comfortable with. You may not even need the app, signage is very good. The Grand Cypress is maybe a 5-7 minute drive from Disney Springs, maybe 15-20 from DHS, depending on how you hit the traffic lights and time of day. The longest drive will probably be about 30 minutes.

Thank you! That is what I thought. There is no way that signage at WDW is worse than the signage at DLR. We live in LA and are used to traffic and congestion.

The last time I was at WDW we stayed in an AirBnB. It was great. I loved having a break from the crowds and being able to decompress. This time we will be in an off site resort so won't have the same type of break, but the price is right. When I was there 15 years ago we didn't have a difficult time navigating to get to the parks. Since we last visited, the number of parks hasn't changed. There are more resorts. Maybe the extra signage directing people to the resorts makes it more confusing. :confused3

I went to school in the Bay Area and both my spouse and I have driven extensively in SF. If WDW is the size of SF, which we can navigate with narrow one-way streets and lots of hills, neither of us will have a difficult time driving there.
