WDW to MCO?

We are visiting family after our trip, so not eligible to take DME back to the airport. Returning our rental car to car care would be half the price of returning it at MCO. Mears is about $85. Is there a cheaper, reputable taxi service...?

Are you staying at a WDW resort the night before you go to MCO? If so, you're eligible for DME. It doesn't matter if you're catching a flight or not.

I would look at Uber or Lyft as an alternative.

Think of it this way ..

You have loaded up your rental car driven to car care ... unloaded car .... transfered to taxi....

which is costing $ 85 + Tip ......... How much is that saving rather than returning car to airport ?

Uber X or regular Lyft = about $21 (4 people max)

Uber XL or Lyft Plus = about $37 (6 people max) In Miami, our XL/Plus rates are about double the regular/X fares, so I'm not sure about this estimate.

Neither fare includes tip...which I would give, based on the savings you'd be getting.

That is crazy! I would return it at the DCC and call an Uber. Or see how much a one day rental from DCC to MCO would be. It would mean returning the rental car and picking up another one, but it could be a lot cheaper. Also you could see how much it would be to just pick it up at MCO and have it the whole time. We have done that and sent one adult on ME with the kids and luggage and one adult pick up the car.

But keep checking prices. They change so much, you may get a break in price.

I have a friend who drives for Uber and said in his agreement with Uber, they are not allowed to accept tips. He says the whole goal is to have cash out of the loop.

He's wrong.

Uber management used to say that the tip was included; a court case made them stop saying that. Now, their web site begrudgingly tells riders that they can tip if they want to.

@ktate82 - I know, right?!? I priced out all options. It's like $32/day rental from DCC both ways or $99/day DCC->MCO. I also looked at taking DME to MCO to rent the car there but that's like $50/day and kills some of our last day park time.

I'm plan to keep checking; I still have time.

I'm unclear as to what you're trying to accomplish. What happens after you return the rental car? Are you visiting the family after you checkout, and returning the car just prior to heading back to MCO? So, looking for a way to get back to MCO from the CCC?

@goofy4tink - Yes...we are renting a car on our WDW departure, visiting family for a few days, then flying out of MCO. The price to rent at Car Care and return the car to MCO is more than double the price of renting from DCC to DCC (or MCO to MCO).

So we need to bring the car back to WDW and get to the airport. Taking a Mears shuttle is about $85 (plus tip) and a one-way rental from DCC to MCO is $99. I am looking for other alternatives. We still have some time, so I am crossing my fingers for a price drop or better car rental coupons.
