Hey everyone,

We are thinking about combining a WDW stay with Hilton Head next summer. Maybe 3 nights at WDW and then 5 at HH. It says 321 miles from Orlando to HH. Anyone here made that drive? Can you tell me about it if so? Is it easy, about how long, etc. ?? Thanks very much in advance.

Sean

We made the drive about 4 years ago the day before New Year's Eve. It took us 6 hours. There was a lot of traffic, we assume because of the holiday. But normally it would not be a difficult drive.

We have done the drive a couple of times. The real issue seems to be I-95 both around Daytona Beach and around Savannah. It took us well over 6 hours last time we drove it. It was tedious. Normally, the drive should be about 5 hours.

Yup, as others have said, it should take you 5-6 hours. One thing to keep in mind...the resort is about 1/2 hour from the highway. Make sure to take Exit 8 to avoid the toll roads!

We have done this drive a couple of times. It always seems longer than it should be. The traffic around Jacksonville can be hectic if you catch it at a bad time and we have run into huge traffic issues when we reach Orlando. Just be aware of your timing. Our GPS took us a back way off the interstate from Savannah which seemed a bit quicker. The road ended up in the old part of Bluffton and was a very pretty drive from Savannah.

Yes, the trip through Bluffton is more direct and has parts that are pretty.

We just did this exact drive in September. I thought the drive was very nice. We did not hit any major traffic tie ups and we made it from end to end in just about 5 hours.

I just followed by GPS and actually I think it took me two different ways. We drove from WDW to HHI, stayed there for 8 nights and then drove back to MCO-Orlando airport to fly home.

Both ways were fine and actually DH and I both commented on how we would do that again rather than drive from home to HHI which takes us about 15 hours. Usually we can get pretty good air prices to the Orlando airport and then a 5 hour drive is much nicer!!

Wish you luck!!
