WDW to go smoke free from June 1st!

I'm sorry for people who smoke but I think this is good news hope they enforce it:)

That is such great news! Now if they'd just bring in the same no smoking balcony restrictions on the Disney Cruise Line, I'd be over the moon... :thumbsup2

This is good news - it would be wonderful if DLP followed but I think it unlikely as so many Europeans smoke

As a smoker I had a big gasp at reading this, then i realised that I never have a smoking room anyway because of the children and I always smoke in the designated areas so as far as smokers go i was well behaved and will continue to be so, i can definately understand the benefits to this and it is a step in the right direction so I am behind it:thumbsup2

no more upgrades to conciarge for a smokey room again for us then
Paulh

:thumbsup2 We think that it's fantastic news:thumbsup2 Not sure why they didn't do it sooner if they realised there was a decline in requests for the smoking rooms:confused3

It will be great to not have to think about having that awful smell of smoke hanging around the resort rooms and it would be a blessing in the parks if they enforce the "smoking only in the designated areas" policy.:grouphug:

Maybe they should encourage smokers to use the nicotine patches by stocking them in a couple of locations in each park and at the gift shops at a reduced price. It might help stop some of the outbursts and frayed tempers amongst some guests.

Hello,

I am very happy WDW are doing this as a place that is full of children and anyone who chooses not to smoke, should not have to beathe in other peoples smoke :sad2:

I was suprised you could smoke in WDW anyway as its not very "disney"

I wouldn't bet on it being enforced, if the parks are now anything to go by, I was really quite shocked at the amount of people we saw walking around the parks smoking, most quite openly, although some tried to conceal it, on our December trip :sad2:

I am a smoker and I only choose non smoking rooms anyway.

1) family
2) coz the rooms stink.

Please stop judging people who smoke. Not everyone are damn right rude. Perhaps you only see the people who are breaking the rules and not the considerate ones aka me :rotfl: who sits in the smoking area only and ensures that no children are around at the time including my own when I smoke. We are not all like that and again people presume all smokers are rude and in fact we are not.

I for one would also hate breathing in and smelling someones elses smoke. Having these restrictions in place is a positive one and hopefully as you say its brought in on the cruise ship. I have to admit I thought it would of been anyway. Health and safety reasons I would not like to be in the way of someone smoking and being hit with a ciggerate or my kids due to the wind. Thats why I am shocked you can. :confused3

Michelle I totally agree with you, I only ever smoke in the designated areas and never in front of children.

I may get flamed but I do like to sit on my balcony and have a cigarette with a drink, and think I would find it very hard to traipse off to the designated area instead of doing this. So, today I have decided to attempt to give up, I have set the big day as next Tuesday (get the bank holiday out of the way first). I have done it before and lapsed after six months, so fingers crossed I will be more successful this time. Hopefully by the time December comes I will be able to sit on the balcony with my wine and not need a smoke !! I have also just worked out that if I succeed I would be around 950.00 pounds better off by the time I go. I will probably be on here a lot whinging to you all !!

Good luck Jules.:thumbsup2 I keep thinking okay I will give up. I then have a crap shift at work and then go to the car with a friend and hey presto I have started smoking again. I will try especially now that we cant smoke in pubs soon. I will give up at the end of the month, because I have alot of social events with my friends before then, so there is no way I will be able to go out and not smoke.

great stuff Michelle, maybe we can support each other, we will have to tap Joh up for tips
