Hello fellow DISers!

I have a few questions that need some answers and I am hoping a few of you can help!

I am looking into using our airmiles for Starwood hotel certificates which would be good for the Swan and Dolphin hotels. Does anyone know what room type these cover? Is it just a standard room or any type of room? If it is just for a standard, can we pay the upgrade difference?

Also, can I still book the full packages (Dining, tickets etc.) with these hotels if I am using these GC's?

Thanks to anyone who can provide a few answers for me!!!

I am not sure what type of rooms the certificates are good for, but I would assume they would be the lowest cost standard room. If you prefer queen beds I would recommend the Swan as the Dolphin only has doubles (and single Kings of course).

You will not be able to participate in the dining plan as Swan/Dolphin are not Disney hotels, but you can likely buy your tickets through the hotel as a convenience, just not as part of any package. Tickets would probably be cheaper through Undercover Tourist (subscribe to mousesavers.com if you haven't already, to get the newsletters with a special link to an even cheaper price)

You also won't be able to use the Magical Express, but you can pay for Mears shuttle.

One more thing: Go onto Swandolphin.com and sign up for their promo emails. They often have rates as low as $99 - $129. At that rate it may be better to save your airmiles for something else.

Good Luck! I haven't stayed at Swan/Dolphin yet, but hope to someday. The location is amazing and they are beautiful hotels.

We're Starwood members and have stayed at the Dolphin twice. We'll be at the Swan in February! We use our Starwood points for free nights, which are for standard, limited view rooms only. However, you can inquire about complimentary upgrades. We lucked out on both our visits to the Dolphin. The first time we were upgraded to a suite (bedroom area and living room area in one big room), and the second time we ended up with a nice resort view room. Though your room is "free", they will still charge you for the resort fee and parking (if you have a car)....and room tax, too, if I remember correctly. :goodvibes
