I'm sure this has already been asked but...has anyone ever done the Richard Petty Driving Experience? We will be in WDW around Fathers Day and I was thinking this might be a cool gift to give my hubby Any info would be helpful.

I did the rookie experience about 1 year ago and it was fantastic. It cost a little over $300 for 8 hot laps. I reached a top speed of about 125 mph. You do wear Nomex (hot!!) and no racing experience is necessary but you do need to know how to drive a straight drive. If you have a Disney Gold Club card (or whatever they call them now) you used to get a discount. I highly recommend it, your husband would love it!

My husband signed up for this during our trip in March. Unfortunately, we planned it for our last day in Orlando and it poured rain, so the class was cancelled. He has a year to re-use it, so now we have to plan another trip to Disney! They offer the class at other locations across the country...but I'll use any excuse I can get!

Just keep in mind when scheduling your days that you may want to plan it early in your stay in case you need to re-schedule due to weather.
