We work and play at home- seriously I am the only one that ventures to the store....but I wear a mask...clean the cart-hand sanitize when I get to my car etc. It is normal for us now. My kids have grown accustomed to not touch their faces and wear masks.

You might not "live on top of each other", but a lot of those meat packing plants are in rural areas. So some of your neighbors, "work on top of each other".
Our area has not been terribly affected, but then everyone that I can see is good about the masks and distancing.

I wonder how many cast members or family of cast members will have to die before they realize how moronic this decision is?

In the US the death rate of Covid is .05% I think that contributes to people feeling comfortable with their plans to go to the parks. Plus I hear from people who work in hospitals who tell me it's overblown. Don't shoot the messenger.

We're heading to Disney in a couple of days, fully planning to wear masks and respect all social distancing rules.

I view it once-in-a-chance lifetime to stay at Walt Disney World while the theme parks are closed for the entire week, and the roads and hotels mostly empty.

I get that temptation....stay safe.

That's great. I hope it stays that way. I worry that in areas with outbreaks that we're going to have spillover from the younger people to their older family members...etc.

We have been super vigilant in my immediate family. We are going to have my sister and family over next weekend for our first "physically distant outside BBQ". My niece's BD was yesterday and my nephew's BD is on July 5th, and we want to sit outside with them. We'll start with family and see how it goes....maybe have friends over from there. We were all set to have a series of friends over on weekends, but will admit that seeing this thing flare across the southern and western states gave me pause.

So...baby steps for now.

Can I ask what numbers you are using to calculate that percentage? Using official numbers (and rounding a little) we have 131k recorded deaths out of 2,800,000 recorded cases. Divide 131k by 2.8 million and you get 0.046 -that’s 5% not .05%.

I'm guessing he's talking covid fatalities vs US population. If I do my math right, I think that comes out to .04%.

They just closed our state parks and beaches here in Florida AGAIN. >:(>:(>:(>:(>:(

Those are places we don't even get near another human being. And yet, the theme parks are open and opening. Stupidity.

Arizona is a sprawl. There really isn’t any urban areas comparable to a NYC or Chicago.
Isn’t it more rampant in the larger cities? I know the Navajo Nation has a been hit with the virus.

Disney Corp will go bankrupt if they don't open before August. That was what they were saying back in March.

If you can still have large gathering protests, riots and conventions then keeping Disney open should be no problem.

We still plan on our July 8-15 Disney vacation (as long as Disney opens as planned)!! We are extending that vacation by a few days and (hopefully) staying off property in a very nice rental with a pool! We will do all the required masking, etc., but honestly--I am not worried about catching COVID, I'm only worried that this trip will get cancelled like our March trip... 😥

AZ cities are the equivalent for suburbs in other states. Phoenix is the main city, but then you have Tempe, Gilbert, and Chandler in the East Valley that are their own cities. If you go North, you have Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Avalon that are their own cities. You don’t see population density really change among these cities. It’s the newer housing developments that have smaller lot sizes, where you see increased density.

Maybe- That’s a weird way of talking about it at the beginning of a pandemic since that number grows as infection spread and the number today has no bearing on how safe it will be tomorrow (it was 0% in January, less than .01% in March, now it’s .04%). That percentage will never decreases until the population grows and this becomes an established regular cause of death.

Oh please. Give us your source or calculation for the 0.5%. And I highly doubt you know of any doctor that is saying this is overblown.

This is what happens when people mistakingly use epidemiology terms and statistics incorrectly. So many people these days have become scientists and medical professionals just by using Google.

We need to stop the spread of false information and infections.

Most of the infections in northern CA are not happening in areas with a dense downtown. They’re happening in the suburbs or areas with high density housing. In fact, those cities with dense downtowns are still fairly deserted due to WFH.

We're going before the parks open, were fastidious hand-washers before CV19, wear masks everywhere when we are out (except in the pool!), and plan to eat our meals in our room. We'll be fine. :)

I suspect Walt Disney World will be one of the safer places to visit in Florida.

More than anything, we're looking forward to hanging out on the balcony every morning (we're early risers!) with a cup of coffee, knowing that we don't have to rush anywhere.

Imagine that, not rushing at Walt Disney World!!!
