WDW resorts where you wouldnt/shouldnt walk around by yourself at night?

I have yet to feel unsafe in any of the resorts at night. I would be hesitant to walk the pathway from TTC to Polynesian late at night, but that's about it. When I booked my solo trip for Nov I wanted to be at BWV since I knew I would be a Jellyrolls very late. But I ended up at BCV..not so bad since I'm pretty comfortable with the walk from BW to BC. I just didn't like the idea of having to take a cab at 1 in the morning back to POR or such!!! I really think that the resorts are very safe at night...you just have to be watchful and remember that no place is 100% free of crime.

Perhaps if you had just lost everything you owned along with your home, if you were starving and near dehydration, watching sick people with no medical care die around you, with no power, no air-conditioning...if perhaps you had no idea where your loved ones were or if they were alive (or worse, the full knowledge that they were dead) you would understand why thousands of people dead and tens of thousands of people facing homelessness and unemployment you might understand why this is not a joke, not something for cutesy little emoticons.

To the OP -- I'd say use common sense that you'd use anywhere else. If you feel uncomfortable, go with your instincts. Stick to lighted paths, and never, ever be ashamed to go to guest services and say you need an escort if you feel unsafe.

You are very right about that.....but it still does not justify looting, shooting people and burning the city. All of the people there are suffering but there are some that are taking advantage of the situation by robbing stores and stealing from what is left of peoples homes. The whole situation itself is awful and I feel for the people that have lost everything, but no matter what violance and commiting crime is not the answer. It just takes time to get a recue effort of this size started. Please pray for all of the victims and for those who are resorting to violance and crimes.

As for the OP: I totally feel safe everywhere in the resorts at night but always use caution and keep your eyes open. Have fun

I never said looting was justified. I was simply saying that none of it is a joking matter -- it's horrifying.

I felt a little uncomfortable on the walkway between DTD and SSR long after dark. There is a boat so we did not have to use the walkway. That might just be because I am a "wimp" and I do not especially care for late night "antics" anyway.

Like someone else mentioned, I feel uncomfortable on the walk from TTC to the Polynesian at night, when it is only me and a child without a male escort. Once you get off the Epcot monorail, you have a large deserted ticket purchasing/parking lot type area to walk through and then the long dark paths on the Polynesian grounds. We have used this walkway more than a few times. Nothing bad ever happened, but I never see any security and if you have used this pathway at night when you are alone, you will understand. Every time I have ever used it, I always felt I must be the only one that does, lol. Never a soul around. I can only hope there are security cameras.

I have always felt the Polynesian needed more night time lighting. Their long houses need clearly labeled and visibly lit signs with the name of the long house, since they all look alike. Their "You Are Here" maps are useless in the dark if you can't even see the "you are here" icon! lol If you have "over 40" eyesight, ;) it can be a problem.

Other than that, I have always felt safe at night at WDW, but I am always cautious and try to be observant.

POR the jogging trail around the lake. One night due to time differences in the uk - 5hrs ahead, I went jogging around the lake it was well lit but all I could hear were rustling noises in the bushes and sticks cracking every now and then - scary! :earseek:

What kind of training do they give their drivers?! Anything could have happened to this woman and her child. She could have fallen and hurt herself, her son could have got lost, etc etc etc.
...one of the giant icons could have snuck up behind her and yelled, "BOO!"...
:maleficen :scared:

Good points about the pathway from TTC to the Polynesian. I would recommend staying to the paths that are well traveled by other guests, and Disney staff. Especially at night.

I'm so surprised of all your response!!! Of all the places in the world that's the one I feel safe in a Disney Resort!!!

So sorry to ear that at some places you just don't feel so safe... :confused3 :confused3

On our last trip to the All Star Resort a rabbit hopped out right in front of me on the way back to my room! I nearly fainted :scared1: and I was 7 months pregnant! So remember that if you hear a noise in the bushed there are a lot of rabbits on the property.

While I don't feel unsafe at Disney, there is crime there as there is anywhere. Everyone just needs to take the necessary precautions the same at Disney as anywhere you travel.

I feel reasonably safe at WDW but there are probably some sort of desserted spots that would unnerve me.

When returning to the Swan parking lot one night in June at about 11:30 PM (after wishes cruise and dropping off our DIS friends) there were 3 police cars and also several hotel security guards near the entrance where you turn into the parking lot. They had what looked like two late-teen/early twenties men against one of the cars with their hands behind their heads. Just reminded me that, even though we are at WDW and feel very safe, many of the resort parking lots are accessible from the public roads if you cut through the trees/shrubs - so do stay alert and aware - and don't leave valuables in your car - however rare, crime does happen in 'the world'.

I have been going as a single mom for years and felt completely safe at DW resorts when I never felt completely safe at home. That's one reason I love it so much. DTD is a little scary at night though.
Yes I agree, I would never go to pleasure island alone, but, I have been to Downtown alone, its OK. ;)

There was one night I was walking back from OPR at CBR by myself (it was pretty late) and I kept having a really creepy feeling that I was being watched. I kind of laughed it off when I made it back to the room safely...just thought I was being paranoid. But I'm always careful and super alert and I do think I could defend myself if need be...but that creepy feeling takes away your confidence every time!!

i have takne many late night walks alone with my DW at night at wdw and have always felt safe. the only place i would feel a bit wary is the path leading from DD to SSR.

If you're worried about having to walk around late at nite by yourself maybe you should consider getting some pepper spray too keep with you. It's small so it's not a big deal to carry it, and if someone were to give you problems it would certainly help. It might also just help you feel safer, even though it's likely you'll be perfectly safe.

I have been on solo trips before as well as a trip with just me and the 3 kids. I have always felt safe, whether it's a false sense of "safety" or not- I don't know, in all "onsite areas" such as resorts, from buses to resorts, buses, parks, even downtown disney and yes even on the grounds of Fort Wilderness at night (after campfire/etc.)
I might feel a little strange or more 'aware' of my surroundings in areas mentioned- like walking from TTC to Polynesian or walking across to contemporary- even though technically still on "property" it might feel different. Definitely might feel less safe like walking out a long way at CBR. I guess anywhere within earshot of CM's makes me feel safe. LOL

It is NOT that I'm just a "not scared" type person though. I found that out on my solo trip staying offsite and also going to Universal on that trip... I only felt safe while on WDW property... but at the offsite hotel and at times at Universal (after dark) and getting cabs from there and such... kinda scared me/made me worry for my safety at times. But at WDW I'm cool. :)

:) I hope I don't get flamed for saying this, but I just hope that you keep your guard up anyway. Unfortunately there are still bad folks out there, even at Disney, and I have to say I would definitely keep to the lighted places even if you feel safe. A false sense of security sometimes makes us do things we would n't do normally. I hope I didn't offend anyone, just want everybody to be safe! :lovestruc
