Where wouldnt you walk around at night alone? Which resorts?

I can't think of any. :confused3

I would feel safe by myself (or with just me and Paul) at night at any of the Disney World resorts.

I have never felt unsafe at any of the WDW resorts and parks. You just have to use caution as you would anywhere.

thank you - then I wont worry about returning by myself at night in March

I believe that there are a couple of paths, and possibly more, that close at night.

At SSR there are a few paths that have signs saying they close at dusk. I also belive that the path between OKW and DTD closes at dusk also. Though I am not sure how you close a path.

My guess at the reason for some closures is for safety since certain paths may lack the proper lighting.

I missed my bus stop at CBR in June. The bus driver wouldn't drive me back around and pointed me in the direction I needed to go. It was just me and my 7 year old son. It was about 1:45 am when we got off of the bus and about 2:30 when we found our room.
We were tired, the place was not well lit, and the sprinklers came on and got us wet, but I never felt unsafe. I don't think we ever saw another person. I know there were some because the bus was packed.

Does it bother anyone else that the driver let off a woman and her 7yo ds to go take a 45-minute hike at 1:45 in the morning???!!!!!

What if something HAD happened??!! Can you imagine the headlines for Disney then??!!!

My thoughts exactly as I was reading Monica31671 post.

::yes::

You know this is the second time someone has made a tacky reference to the suffering and misery of thousands of people in Louisiana and Mississippi.

How can you find any humor in the situation in New Orleans. :confused3

Any of the "giant icon" resorts would be sketchy at night...I think they come alive after dark, and peek in the upper floor windows....

Amen to that. It's not a funny situation at all. I can only imagine what those people are going through.

As for feeling safe at Disney, we have our second trip coming up at the end of this month. It's just myself and DD7 (she was 5 last trip). I too had some reservations but I felt totally safe and secure, it was actually our best trip ever and we can't wait for this one to get here.

FromVatoDisney -- Sorry to hear about your experience and hope it never happens again.

:cheer2: 27 days and counting
:earsgirl: princess:

I have been going as a single mom for years and felt completely safe at DW resorts when I never felt completely safe at home. That's one reason I love it so much. DTD is a little scary at night though.

Perhaps if you had just lost everything you owned along with your home, if you were starving and near dehydration, watching sick people with no medical care die around you, with no power, no air-conditioning...if perhaps you had no idea where your loved ones were or if they were alive (or worse, the full knowledge that they were dead) you would understand why thousands of people dead and tens of thousands of people facing homelessness and unemployment you might understand why this is not a joke, not something for cutesy little emoticons.

To the OP -- I'd say use common sense that you'd use anywhere else. If you feel uncomfortable, go with your instincts. Stick to lighted paths, and never, ever be ashamed to go to guest services and say you need an escort if you feel unsafe.

Well I can honestly say again, for the third time, how can you find any humor in such a situation is beyond me. Did you make jokes about 9-11?

There are just some things you do not joke about and this is one of them.

To the OP as others have stated use caution, resorts I would be comfortable with, however I would avoid parking areas late at night alone.

Haha, that would be the creepiest experience ever.

What kind of training do they give their drivers?! Anything could have happened to this woman and her child. She could have fallen and hurt herself, her son could have got lost, etc etc etc.
