Well the only complain of our recent stay in WDW (At Pop Century August 16-21) was the fact that our RUDE neighbors each and every morning and night put their door lock thing in the doorway so that the door would not close. At first we thought maybe they were doing it just once, but after about the second day it was getting annoying. Eventually I opened our door and said straight up "that metal thing is for when you open the door and in case someone tries to push it open or if someone tries to get it, the door won't open, it's not a door stop". They then went on after I closed our door to open and close the door about 5 times. In the end I guess they got so mad at what I said that the next few days weren't as bad.

Otherwise as I have said in my other POP threads , the hotel was great and everyone should give this value resort a try, it will surpass your expectations and make some of those higher up hotels jealous :)

what the problem was.
Almost everyone uses the metal door latch to keep the door from closing. Especiallly when running to get ice or waiting for the belllman.
I'm confused about your issue.

I don't understand what the problem is either. Maybe the OP is talking about the doors in the connecting rooms? Although, I don't those have those on them.

Maybe when the door hit the metal safety lock it made a loud noise. Maybe that's what the complaint was?

She was talking about people putting the metal bar over when the door is open...so the door doesn't close all the way...which is fine if you're just going to get ice...some people leave it open for hours while their childern (or adults) constantly go in and out, in and out each time the door strikes the metal bar producing a loud noise. (much louder then the door just closing)

Hey!

Yes this is what I'm talking about. But the problem is it wasn't once ever couple of days, it was at bad times (7am...12pm) with the people coming and going multiple (5+ times) in a few minutes.

If it was just occasionally we would have had no problem, but it was out of hand. We rarely get annoyed/complain, but this was just one of those things that people should respect their neighbors.

We do this whenever we go on an ice or soda run...but We always make it a point to close the door gently so it doesn't CLANG.....lol

Pkdcoastrs:

I can certainly understand your point. That would really annoy me too! People really need to be more considerate of their neighbors.

Boy, call me dumb......but I would have never thought of using that thing as a door stopper. When my DH or I go and get ice/soda, we just bring our room key or knock on the door for the other person to open.

That loud banging would be extremely annoying.

Years ago when we stayed at the All Star Sports...we had the same problem into the wee hours of the night...??

We called the desk and complained...they seem to have corrected the problem...because it soon ceased. (thank god!)

I knew right away what the OP was talking about. It is so loud when you let the door slam anyway. But it's even worse when the metal latch is put there.

I bring a sound machine when I travel to try and drown out any noises. But those slamming doors you feel, not just hear!

That is not just a problem at Pop century. We have run into it all over wdw resorts. The mousekeeping staff do it during the day while cleaning, and it has caught on at many of the properties with the guest. I always enjoy the Loud banging myself, you don't have to set your alarm clock. ;)

***(side note) Our room in "Hawawii" was LOCKED when we returned with the saftey bar and could not enter, we went over to the concerige desk and said, we are both out here and not in there and no housekeepers are in our room, so how is the "bar" locked? Well, they came down, said we had the wrong door? And found we didn't etc... called maintaneous, and the guy said, so many people use the bar, slam the door, it bounces shut (from being slammed on) on its own every so often, and he get's this call. ****

I feel your pain... but Disney wouldn't legally be allowed to give you a doorstop. Why? Those doors to your room are fire doors (which is why they close automatically). Fire codes prevent you from blocking one open.
