WDW Resort Bus question/issue

I had a twenty something man tell me that a scooter was "The way to go" at WDW.
I told him that I'd be happy to trade my screwed up knee for his healthy one and then he could enjoy spending the rest of his life unable to walk without a cane and constantly having to plan where to walk in order to stay on level solid ground.
He apologized for his remark and said that he hadn't considered that.
The problem was, that like so many people today, he craved what he perceived to be a good thing without considering the long term consequences of his wish's.
I've told someone that I would gladly gift my scooter to them as long as they also take my lupus. They weren't ready to take me up on that.

I cringe whenever I see a post start the way this one did. Because when people say things like "before I start I want to say that I completely understand people with disabilities or who are elderly definitely need to use motor scooters", what usually gets left out is "as long as it doesn't inconvenience me". As someone with a wheelchair bound family member, I PROMISE you that he would gladly wait however long in line if it meant he could actually walk without crippling pain.

First off: wow.

Second off: The stroller was most likely tagged as a wheel chair. My nephew has autism and is a huge flight risk. His stroller tagged as a wheelchair for his safety, and also his sense of security. His stroller is his safe place. It is required to be treated as a wheelchair. I’m just providing some education, so you know for next time. No worries. It’s something I had to learn as well.

There are many solutions for people that are upset with the bus system. You can rent a car and pay the parking fee, take a lyft/uber everywhere, or take a minivan everywhere. You can also stay at a resort with monorail or boat transportation to cut down on the bus use.

Preach!

Unless the person is relying upon a wheelchair or ECV, then the choices are somewhat limited in nature.

Stroller as a wheelchair does not apply to buses. It applies to rides and other areas in the park. It’s not required by anyone other than ride operators to be treated as a wheelchair. We used the tag when my daughter was younger and my nephew currently uses it for his trips. A regular stroller is not designed to be tied down on a bus. The ties can bend the stroller frame or even cause the stroller to break loose.

Exactly.

Unless it is an actual wheelchair stroller that is designed to be tied down with a child in it, it is simply another stroller on the bus.

from what I understand it is totally against the rules to allow an unfolded stroller onto the bus, much less to LEAVE THE KIDS INSIDE THE STROLLER while the bus is in motion. Unless it's a stroller-as-wheelchair and a type that can be tied down, and those are tagged usually and don't have multiple kids in them.

And yes, scooters board first. They must be tied down. That's easier to do when there aren't other people on the bus. I do remember that technically only six people max are supposed to board with a person in a scooter/wheelchair but I doubt it's enforced. Because I assume they do not want to tell a person using a scooter or wheelchair that their party will need to be split and some of them left behind. I wouldn't want to tell them that either. So, I just wait for the next bus.

So should the scooter user who rolled up after the bus was already boarding and then got mad that the driver wouldn't take people off the bus to get her scooter on.

anyway I think we're going to rent a scooter for my mother. Just in the park, she won't use it on the buses. She can walk, but not all the way around a gigantic theme park. She'd like to be able to keep up with my friends and me. So they're not just for the use of persons who are completely incapable of walking.
