I was wondering how much the rain ponchos cost at MK? We were thinking first of packing some from home, but if they are a reasonable price at WDW we would rather use the space in our luggage for other things.

We were just there last week and I had to buy one for my daughter and I. They were $7/each.

A really great benefit of the park ponchos is that any shop that sells them will replaced yours if it so happens to rip. DD's poncho from 3 years ago had a small tear, and the CM just took it and handed me a new one, no questions asked. Also, child's size ponchos are available at a lower price than the adult's.

We purchased the emergency-type ponchos for 50 cents per poncho at a local dollar store (actually 2 for $1). We brought about 16 of them for 4 of us. They fit easily in the front pouch of our luggage.

They were nice because after we used them, we just threw them away and didn't have to worry about folding up a wet poncho and then putting it out to dry that night in the room in case we needed it for the next day.

Just purchased one at WDW last week for $6.00. The new ones are clear! We all have the old yellow ones and have taken them at least 3 times! I had bought some from the Dollar Tree and they just are not as good. I'd rather spend a bit more and have Mickey on them and use them for upcoming trips in the years to come!

I bought both the clear and the yellow ones at our local Dollar Store - two for a dollar.. They were great! Kept us dry all the way down past our knees and even used them to cover the stroller..

The best part was not having to drag around wet ponchos - just tossed them when we were done! :flower:

I agree with you 100%. Last year I tried the wal-mart ones and they were so chinsy (is that a word?) That I immediately threw them away and bought WDW ones. Now we will take them back with us this year.

We bought a 2 of these @ WDW and it was almost a waste of $$ IMHO.

We we got back to Texas we bought over a dozen for about the same price at Target.

I guess we will see how it works.

Target sells Coleman brand rain ponchos in their camping section for $5. They are much better quality and have a drawstring hood. They come in a plastic carrying bag and are usually available in three colors: blue, green and yellow.

just wanted to add a helpful hint: take a few plastic newspaper bags along...they are great for cramming those wet ponchos/umbrellas into so you do not drip all over the place (or people) :umbrella:

Good idea.

We bought our ponchos about three trips ago. We used them extensively on this trip. We carry them folded over a few time (flattened) over our fanny packs or belts. They are very convenient and we have no problems with them. We have worn each of them at least 10-15 (if not more) times since we bought them which makes them less than $0.50 per use. They are as good as when we first bought them. They will surely last us many more trips. In fact, we still have several kids size yellow ones that we use for our nieces and nephews when they join us on our trips. We've had them for at least 5 years now and have gotten plenty of wear out of them.
