WDW Popcorn and Food Allergies

I've checked out past threads, and it looks like Disneyworld changed their popcorn vendor a while back. Does anyone have any updated allergy information for the new popcorn? My DS5 can't have wheat, soy or dairy - but I'm hoping he can have the popcorn.

I think this might be something you need to ask when you are there or if they have any popcorn that your DS can have.

now just for my own curiosity is soy and dairy the same thing I know my brother can not have soy and he uses these words interchangeable so one day he will say soy and the next day dairy

Soy and dairy are two very different things. Soy is plant based (soybeans) and dairy is anything milk-containing (cow's milk, cream, etc).

Ok good to know maybe my brother is ellergic to both as I know he can not have anything with milk and he did say he can not have soy

Unfortunately, you are likely going to have to ask at every popcorn stand for the ingredients as they don't seem to use the exact same one IME. The actual popcorn might be the same but the seasonings and ingredients have varied. I know we found a dairy/soy safe version at HS but couldn't find one in another park. The ones that are pre-bagged and sold at candy stores all had soy in them when I was there a few weeks ago.

My solution for my next trip is the following (have not tried it yet), which may be an option for the OP:

I am going to buy one of the nice plastic popcorn containers from one of the popcorn carts, but ask them to give me a new one, empty, and put the popcorn into a normal paper box container. My sister will eat that popcorn. I will bring the plastic container back to the hotel with me and wash it thoroughly. Then fill it with SAFE popcorn I have brought -- e.g. Skinny Pop popcorn (http://skinnypop.com/) which I will bring from home or have shipped down or ship down myself.

Disney did change their popcorn kernel vendor. It's now pop secret. The oil has always been dairy and soy free and that has not changed. You can always ask at the carts for an allergy binder that will list the ingredients. Last time I remember looking there was no cc notice for dairy or soy on the kernels.

Thank you for this info. We will still check, but it's nice to know that we will probably still be able to have popcorn. It's my family's goto snack in the World.

So who should i ask about what kind of oil they pop in? Disney or pop secret? I know its silly but the last popcorn we had at Disney was popped in coconut oil and we all can't have that but if they switched vendors then make this next trip we can TIA

I would guess yes you can buy the canisters but I do not know for sure

You can ask for the popcorn on the side, then turn around and give the popcorn to the person behind you in line.

Just following up on this as we just got back from WDW.

Every popcorn vendor I used (and I checked the ingredients list with them all) had safe popcorn for our kiddo - dairy, wheat and soy free. Got souvenir buckets on the first day in each park, and refilled them each day on our following visits.

A lot of the resorts carry the Erin McKenna mini 'cupcakes' they're vegan and wheat free. I don't know about soy. But they let me get these as my dessert on the dinning plan. (they are in the cold cases and not with the regular deserts)
