Hi All!

Just wondering if when using rideshares inside the park, are car seats/boosters necessary? We’ll always be on property - and mostly walking, but just thinking about emergency situations - say we get out of the park late and might miss our hoop-Dee-do reservations - will rideshares require that we have a seat?

If so, we’ll either bring an inflatable booster, or plan on booking Minnie Vans. It’s just nice to be prepared.

I lost track of how many cancellation fees we paid on our first trip to DLR with the kiddo - some drivers were fine with no seat for the 3 block ride, others cancelled and left.

FL law requires booster or car seat for kids under 5. Kids 0-3 need a car seat, while 4&5 year olds can use a booster. If you have small kids, you should probably just plan to comply rather than risk it or put the driver in a position to make that call.

Just wanted to point out that in this case, you’ll want a MV. Rideshare drops you off at the entrance to Ft. Wilderness, and then you have to take the internal bus to the Settlement, where HDD is. MV drops you off at the Settlement, very near to HDD.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

Wasn’t planning on putting the drivers on the spot - it’s just that the laws always have so many exclusions, it’s hard to track. In California for instance, the law requires for rideshare and taxis, it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure compliance, and drivers are not liable in any way for violations. So a driver could allow the parents to make the decision, but not all drivers do that.

I was wondering if, on Disney property, using rideshare, there were any allowances built into the laws. There are exceptions for taxis.

What I didn’t realize is FLs laws are very limited. Children age 6 or above have NO requirements. It’s very different in CA and WA state - the requirements can affect children up to 16 years of age (if they’re under 4’ 9”). Our DD is 6, but in WA and CA would be required to use a booster due to her height. Thankfully for FL, she’s old enough to be exempt from specific requirements. One less thing to pack and bring to the parks! Woo hoo! (We will have her car seat to/from the airport, and on the plane).

remember that booster seats are not allowed to be used on plane. to use on plane must have seats own belts not using seat/shoulder belt to fasten if I make sense

Is it legal for her to ride without a booster? Yes. Is it safe? No. Bring the booster. (We’re bringing an inflatable for our 7 year old for our trip.)

Yup, thanks for the reminder, but no need to worry. We bring a WayB Pico with us - that’s what we use on the plane and to/from the airports. Fully FAA certified. Small enough to fit into lockers at the amusement parks, but most of the time we’ll be walking or taking the boats, monorail, at skyway, so I was contemplating bringing the booster seat for “just in case” at the parks. Never know if you’re gonna have to take a ride share to a dinner reservation because you got out of the park late.
