Ok, first off... put down your flame guns!!!

I'm curious about how some can go to WDW over and over again. Some of you go every year and some go several times a year.

Don't you ever get that been there done that feeling? Like for some of the attraction type rides, e.g., Honey I Shrunk the Audience... you know not the thrill type rides.... how many times can you see those without being bored because you know what is going to happen?

Now don't get me wrong, I love WDW even though I've only been 3 times, '82, '97 & '00. But the last time we were there I remember leaving some rides feeling a little ho-hum.

So, how do you keep it fresh?

We try to do something new each time like: water parks, restaurants, resorts, miniature golf, etc.

We also make up fun new things to do each trip: find hidden mickeys, use a pal mickey, collect character autographs, pin trading, etc.

On the last trip, I made my husband a trivia quiz and he had to take a picture of each answer...we are always thinking of new fun ways to scrapbook our trips.

Our repeated trips to WDW have nothing to do with the rides...it's all about the magic! We could never get enough of Disney or tire of it. It's truly our happy place.

I can't really explain it, but it never get old or boing.
Also every couple of years there is something new to see and do.
I just love Disney. ::yes:: :teeth: :hyper:

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Living local we have the advantage we don't have to blitz the whole park. We can go early or late in the day. With the time pressure off us we can enjoy looking at all the small deails, landscaping, building details and the like.

We never get bored as we treat it like a special day like all of you. It is not a case of ho hum, lets do Disney.

On the flip side I know, many people that don't do Disney and never go and could care less.

For us, it is just the whole magic feeling. We know what rides we don't like, so we just don't do them which gives us more time to see and do other things. We do tours, stay at different resorts to see different themes, and just check out stuff we havent seen before. We take our time since we dont have to ride all the rides each time, so we have a leisurely vacation. It never gets boring. One time we went within 6 months apart and one trip we just sat and people watched enjoying the weather and the sights. I think we had more fun and relaxation on that trip than any other.

There is something to be said than doing other than making mad dashes to ride this ride, or ride that. No list, no strategy, just leisure time. We dont have kids, so we do more adult things. This trip we are going to do Pleasure Island and check that out more. So there are many different aspects to Disney.

Ya know, my whole family asks the same thing "How can ya'll go to Disney 1 or 2 times a year (one year we went 4 times!!) and see the same thing over and over,ya'll need to go to the beach, or go to the mountains?". We just simply tell them "We love Disney". It just isnt our bag to go to the beach all the time (we live 3 hrs from PanamaCity FL) and see the ocean. THE OCEAN NEVER CHANGES!!!lol, and we dont like the mountains. To us that would be boring. So we tell them, there are mountains in Disney...SPACE MOUNTAIN, BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN, SPLASH MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!:) LOL

It is all about people's desires and wishes. And ours is Just we love Disney. :)

When we were there this past June, my kids got very worn out after a few days even though we were taking it very slowly (they weren't used to the heat, although I didn't think it was that hot), so we took a "down" day. We took the bus to MK, then the monorail to the Poly where we decided to have breakfast since we were all hungry (even though we had already had breakfast). Then we checked out the pool area and headed over to where you can catch a small boat back to MK. We took the bus back to BW and headed for the pool. It was really the best day of our vacation! We just enjoyed being there with no pressure to go to the parks or stand in lines or walk far. We met a really nice family at the pool, too.
I understand what you mean about some of the attractions. I don't care if I never go on It's a Small World again, really. In fact, we'll be there for a few days in June and I'm not even planning on hitting MK. Just a water park, maybe a fishing excursion, and a AK/Epcot combo day or something. :sunny:

Recently there was a long thread about this subject on the DVC board. Most people emphasized how WDW is just so much more than the parks. And there's so much to do there-I'm taking my 16th trip in December and can count at least 9 major "firsts". And so many people have vacation places in the mountains or the beach that they go to every year and no one says anything. Trying asking someone "You're going to the beach again? But it's the same water as last time." or "Back to the mountains? But it's the same old mountain" Just remember, the parks are a very small part of WDW-it truly is "a World".

Well, we used to NEVER get bored with the rides, even after repeating them...but then Disney started to turn everything into a thrill adventure which to be honest, bores us no end.

We now occasionally come away from a trip to DisneyWorld with a sensation that if Disney keeps replacing interesting things (Horizons, World of Motion, SpaceShip Earth) with thrill rides, we will get bored and will probably stop visiting as often.

So far, we're finding enough things to keep our minds occupied while we're there, but I can see a time when we might just say "borrrring!" LOL

I like wdw but would not want to go more often than every few years... I,m sure if we make another trip next winter it will be years before we go back again. we went every 2 years for a while when our kids were young ( no small feat since it is far away) and did start getting the" been there done that" feeling so we stopped going for a while and now I am excited about it again..however that's just me,I would never buy a timeshare to anywhere cause I feel that way about any vacation...want something totally new sometimes no matter how much I like the place.
evidently I am lazy and a cheapskate!..if I had to work to hard at find something to "enjoy" i'd rather go somewhere cheaper to do it !:scratchin

Do you really think it is just about the rides? ;) I think Disney offers something special for a select group of people that the other parks just can't reproduce.

our friends just don't get it either
they say things like "are you ever going anywhere but WDW?"
you must have seen it all by now
i just laugh we have only been twice

there is so much more to see in do
we are heading back 10/04 for MNSSHP

i guess some people enjoy the magic and some don't
that's okay with me so long as i can keep going back::yes::

Hi all, thanks for the responses. Just some comments...

Lance...No, I don't think it is all about the rides, but after all it is a theme park filled with attractions, a theme park like no other, but still a theme park.

Since I only go every 2-3 years, I'm not just going to go to WDW and sit around a resort for a week, I'm going into the parks. I fully understand the "magic" that being at WDW brings, you feel it as soon as you enter the property and I love it. I'm just afraid that if I went more than I did I would start to lose that "magic" feeling.

Simba's Mom made a good point about the beach and the mountains. I am just one who likes change so when I go on vacation, I like to go to different places and see different things.

I'm not trying to stir anything up, just curious about what brings people back to WDW on a frequest basis.

We've been to WDW for two weeks every January since 1991 and we don't even have kids.

While Disney is the main draw for us, we also explore the Orlando area that has many other very interesting attractions besides the Theme Parks (I highly recommend the Titanic museum for history buffs and anyone interested in the Titanic) We purchased DVC in March of 2002 because we always find something new EVERY year. (by the way there are I believe well over 60,000 DVC members, so there are lots of us who don't get tired of it ;) )

Like others said we don't have to do the parks commando style and one of our best memories is of one day when we sat down at a checkerboard that was left out on a table on Main Street USA and played checkers for a good hour or so. People walked by us and looked like we were crazy as they raced to fit everything in on their once in a great while vacation. We were able to relax and enjoy ours, knowing we will return again and again.:D

Going to WDW often isn't really unlike many of the friends we have, who go to Ocean City Md. every summer, same week, same condo or hotel, year, after year ,after year. Or camping at Deep Creek Lake , same time every year.
They go because they like it and we go to WDW because we like it. We do each theme park and get on our favorite attractions, but most time is spent at the various pools, miniature golf, dining at those fine WDW restaurants, shopping, and just plain relaxing.

Could be some day we'll get tired of it--but not yet!

It's all about the Magic. It is so pleasant being at WDW. The people are friendly, CM and guests. You are treated with respect by most people.

We go a couple of times a year. There is always something different to experience. We want to stay at each resorts, but love our favorite, WL.

It is fun, not to do Disney commando style, you can relax and experience the Magic.

Next month, we're doing something different, a Disney Cruise, then going to the parks for 4 days and see the Christmas decoration, CP and MVMCP.

It's so nice at Christmas time.

And yes, other people think we are nuts, but we have fun.

WDW has been a place our whole family enjoys. Its the magic that keeps us coming back each year. And there is ALWAYS something new each time for us to do. This next trip we are going on Illum. cruise. Been there for last 4 yrs and never knew about it. We go to Myrtle Beach and its always the same ole thing but Disney offers something for everyone all in one place. The feeling it gives us is what brings us back each year.

Living less then 45 minutes away, we go to Disney almost every weekend and haven't lost the magic so far. We have lived here for a year now and there are still things at the parks that we haven't done. I have seen FOLK over 100 times and could see it 100 more. With 2 young kids we always find something new to do that keeps the magic going.

"You're going to WDW again, you just went last year" is probably the most used comment on us. We try to get there at least once a year, sometimes more. Even if it's only for an afternoon visit while on a business trip in the area.

2 big kids with no children. Every time we go, we find out new things about the complex. Unlike when we had children with us, no hurries, no keeping them entertained, no agenda, life is good...

We don't always visit every park, or every part of the parks we go to. The only definite on each trip is EPCOT and a couple of rides in MK.

Casual strolls through gardens and parks, resort hopping, music, special events... so much to do...

We just got back, this time it was the wine and food festival and MNSSHP, both firsts for us...

Besides, it sure beats being at home going to work :)

Well, you're asking this on a Disney fan website. It would be like going to a Yankee fan site and asking why they don't cheer for someone else.

I would guess that the average WDW vacationer gets the "been ther done that" feeling and won't go back for several yrs if not longer or even ever. But, the majaority of folks on this site love Disney. We love going there and finding something new every time we visit. A new restaurant, shop, character or ride. We also cherish the moments when we get to show people the WDW magic that we are so fond of for the first time.

Living 12 minutes door to door, we can go any time we like. Sometimes, we go to a park after work, just to check out something special (example: The 9/11 Flag retreat), or just to go see Wishes or ride a specific ride.

We do NOT do the whole park every time we go. And we certainly do NOT go every day.

Going more often, even if you live far away, gives you more freedom, in my opinion. It allows you to be OK with taking a break or just leaving when the crowds are too heavy.

If I went for a "once in a lifetime" trip, I would be so worried about getting it all in that I would be miserable!
