WDW over and over again

jdads2..... yeah, I'm asking that on this site, where else would you like me to ask it.

I am sure there are different degrees of Disney fans.... those who enjoy it.... love it... are fanatics about it. I probably fall into the second catagory. I love Disney, but I don't think I would like to go every year. That's just me, but I guess that is why I asked the questions, just trying to get others opinions.... have conversation.

In the past 1.5 years we have gone 5 times (one last trip comming up on our APs in 2 weeks) Before that we had not been in 5 years. After this trip we are not planning to go for another 5 years. There are other places I would like to go. My older daughter has been begging for a trip to Italy and the baby (almost 5) wants to go back to Paris. BUT Disney always changes and in about 5 years I figure we'll do a concentrated "year of Disney" again.

...

Mercy...I think this is an interesting question and the responses too...one thing I thought of is it's really hard to compare someone who lives in fl. and goes frequently to someone who doesn't live there,,,the expense is so different...it costs me close to $400 to just drive there, it costs them a few bucks. it costs me more for tickets and food ( If I am understanding the Fl res. deals right). I can go to Europe for the same amount ( roughly ) that it costs me to go to WDW economically while they can go to WDW lavishly for a few hundred. if they go to one park once a month they are only there 12 days,,,we are going for 9, just at one time instead of spreading it out over a year. not really apples to apples imo .

I have been to WDW 12 times, with 8 of those trips having been in the past 5 years. Part of what keeps Disney World "fresh" for me is trying new things each time. For example, I like trying different resorts, sampling new restaurants, seeing new parades/attractions, etc. Disney World is so large that it seems there is always something new. I also like spending some time away from the parks as down time. I like exploring my resort, shopping at Downtown Disney, etc.

I have found that I enjoy it most when I go once a year. I have been more than once a year this year and in 2002, and I found that I the shorter trips during May when it's hotter were not as fun for me personally as the December trips. Since I found that I tend to look forward to the December trips the most, that is when I plan to keep going. Now next year, I will go twice because I have a trade show in Orlando, so I will definitely go over to Disney World. That will just be a little time at the parks though.

I love making lists of "firsts" to try on each trip. I have a bunch of those planned for my honeymoon such as an Illuminations cruise, breakfast at Breakfastosaurus, etc, and I'm really looking forward to them. :earsgirl:

It's all about the Disney magic. We go at least once every year and it is just the greatest place to be. When we enter Disney property we always know that we have come home. We always try to do different things on each trip. We just returned last month from a two week stay and we never for one moment were we bored. One morning we slept in till 9:00 or so and then headed over to the Kona Cafe for Breakfast at the Poly resort. Than we took the walk over to the Grand Floridian and explored there before we ever entered the MK. We love to take alot of walks around the resorts and eat at the restaurants in the resort in the evening. On this past visit I surprised my wife by taking her to dinner at California Grill for her birthday. It was our first ime eating at CG after lots of trips to WDW. So we always try to do different things on every trip. WE JUST LOVE WDW...........

My mom had been to WDW about 10 years before she went with me and my dd (then 6). She wasn't thrilled to pieces but she really wanted to see Kate's face when she saw Cinderella Castle for the very first time. We all had a great time. I fell in love with the place, as did my dd. We went again, 2 yrs. later, with another family and my dh actually went along. He never understood what I felt about this 'crazy place'. Well, he wanted to go back again, just the three of us. And we did, 18 months later. While there, he gave DVC our phone number and now we own a piece of the magic. People ask us all the time what the attraction is. My answer is....."WDW is someplace my whole family can enjoy. My dh, who is a true Type A personality is kept going all day long. WE can relax by a pool, take a tour, eat someplace funky, play golf, tennis. The possibilities are endless. We are trying to drive to other places also, like Gettysburg and Williamsburg. But, we are really looking forward to being able to visit WDW, stay at a terrific resort and not have to hit every single thing on a particular trip. Now....dh actually joins the conversation when we talk "Disney". He used to just roll his eyes. In fact, friends of ours are sure that he was bitten by a 'mouse' when we were there in August...hence the new outlook on his part!!
So....do I need to do Jungle Cruise every time?? No way. But, there is plenty I do each and every time I go. ANd there is plenty of stuff that's new to try.

I was born in October 1971 about an hour an a half south of WDW and although my mother swears my father is not Mickey Mouse, I do have my doubts.

Seriously though, I could live at Disney World and would love to work there. I could not begin to tell you how many times I've been to WDW, but I can tell you that it's not nearly enough. I now live in Indiana and living so far away from Orlando can be pricey when it comes to a Disney vacation (compared to what it was when I lived in Manatee Co). I have lived here for 7 years now and we are getting ready to go on our 3rd trip since being in Indiana. Our daughter is 9 and this will be her 4th time...first time for retainable memories.

I am lucky enough to have married a man who is as much a WDW fan as I am and I plan to make MANY more trips to the World with him.

It's just a magical place! We just can't get enough!princess:

Thanks for asking!

I have a different reason for returning yearly. There's something that pulls me back that's hard to explain. Part of it is the memories of good times shared with loved ones that are no longer with me. Part of it is that it rejuvenates me and for a short while makes me feel like a kid again in a fantasy world with no worries or problems.
I like it because it is familiar and comforting. I like things that don't change, things that stay the same way I remember them. Trying to recapture my youth I suppose.
If disney continues to change too much, replacing all the classics with thrill rides. Then all I will have left is my own memories so I guess I won't be drawn back as much.

Sometimes, we go to a park after work, just to check out something special

That is soooooo cool, Ted and Holly!!!!!!!
I would love to see Illuminations after work every night!:cool2:

We go every other year now that we have kids.

Before that, every five years was sufficient. With the kids - they change so fast that our every other year trip is completely different than the one before. Last trip it was Peter Pan's Flight over and over again. This trip, they were more interested in trying new things, enjoyed the characters a lot more, took a Pirate Cruise and swam - endlessly. Next trip, they will want to ride the mountains, the bigger waterslides. The trip after that, we will be ready for Tower of Terror and RocknRoller coaster.

But there is a lot more to Disney than the rides. We enjoy being pampered at the resorts. My husband and I both golf - and are looking forward to the kids being old enough that they can do the parks together while we golf. We enjoy eating out.

I think the reasons we are able to go and "keep it fresh" have to do with two things

1) Always doing something different. We wil be there this spring for the 4th time in 4 years and there are still major attractions I have yet to experience

2) Focusing on our kids. As they discover and explore the magic it helps me to keep it new and fresh for me as well.
