Didn't want to hijack exisitng thread on a similar subject so started a new one:

Will be staying at WDW for 5 nights, then 8 nights (Dec 23-31) in Ormond Beach. I booked us at Coral beach Motel because the web site looks nice, the staff sounded friendly and they offer an indoor pool.

NOT AT ALL familiar with the area (or this motel) and have a few questions:

1. Have booked oceanfront efficiency at Coral Beach Motel.
Can anyone tell me ANYTHING (cleanliness, security, any damage to it from hurricane etc etc) about this hotel and the state of its beach. I am leery of staying somewhere for 8 nights at a motel I am not familiar with. Am having real difficulty finding trip reports, info. on this motel.

2. Will not be going to any area restaurants but would love to here about any family activities in the area. I would appreciate any suggestions whatsoever. We are really into nature/wildlife/state parks etc but would love to hear about ANYTHING.

Thank you .

My brother & sil have a condo on the beach in Ormond - hopefully I'll be talking to them today or tomorrow and can ask them if they know anything about that motel. I've visited them 1/2 dozen times and we've gone to Daytona beach for dinner and shopping.

I've printed your questions and will run them by him ASAP. As soon as I have some info, I'll respond back!!!

Barb,
Thank you so much.. I would appreciate any info. whatsoever. I can't wait to get to Ormond Beach. Disney will be wonderful I'm sure, but BUSY, it will be great to have 8 nights to kick back and relax a bit at the beach before we have to go home.

Again, thanks.

Hi Suzy

I asked my brother about the Coral Beach motel - he hadn't heard of it, but the Coral Sands motel is just down the beach from them. It's a very popular place with many weddings taking place on the beach. It did sustain some hurricane damage, but he believes the majority of it has been fixed. He also mentioned that the sand on the beach is slowly returning to pre-hurricane conditions.

The motel lobby has 2 stands full of area information, but he did mention there are some nature trails in Ormond Beach. You might also search for websites. Here's a link from Google.com:

Hope this helps!!!! :teeth:

Barb,
Thanks so much for the link you provided in your last post. I spent about an hour looking through several web sites and was able to find some info./reviews on Coral Beach Motel. The motel itself looks fine, I just hope that the beach isn't too eroded. I called the motel and they told me that the beach has corrected itself. I pray they are telling the truth.

Thanks again for looking into this for me.

can't wait to go.
