My husband and I keep flip floping from WDW to DL. We live in Arizona so it only 7 hour to DL. We go to DL at least 2-3 times a year. Since WDW has free dining , it would be very afforable to go to WDW. We have three children ages 7,5, and 2. If we go to WDW in June 2011 , it wont be until May 2012 until we go back to DL. I have been to WDW 5 times, the last time was in 2005. I love Disneyland it is soooooo magical and with three kids it is easy to get around. I know WDW is huge and I am not sure with three kids that young, is it worth it to go to WDW? Or should we just go to DL? Any advice would be great!! We would also fly to wdw and stay at a moderate hotel.

I too live in Arizona and have visited DL dozens upon dozens of times over the years and love it.

What I found is this. Disneyland even being a 7 hour drive isn't necessarily cheaper depending on your hotel and dining preferences. However, we had just 2A, 1 12yr old on our last trip.

We just returned from 8 nights at WDW. Heres a rundown of our major expenses.

Airfare $250 PP = $750
Hotel and 9 days park hopper, $1710
Counter service lunches $0 (Free)
8 nights nice table service dinner $240 (upgrade from free CS)

Total $2700 for 8 nights all inclusive

We packed several boxes of cereal, bowls and spoons and bought milk at the hotel for our breakfasts along with a few other snacks. That may have cost us $25 tops.

We wouldn't go for 8 nights to Disneyland but cut that in half for 4 nights. Can you go for 4 nights to Disneyland including lunches and sit down dinner, gas, tickets etc for $1350 for 3 adults?

That said the issue you brought up is with young kids. It maybe easier at Disneyland because everything is in walking distance. But WDW transportation is very good and very easy to use. WDW is more of a city with 4 parks, DTD and numerous resort hotels all connected by buses, monorail or boats that are free to use. Its very easy but Disneyland is far superiour in that regard.
