Anyone else remember this thread? It was so much fun to see how others could spend their 40 dollars in WDW!

Can't find the old thread, though.

Basically, you had to post three meals a day- I believe it could be CS or TS not sure if you had to have one TS maybe- and couldn't spend more than 40 dollars a day with tax and tip.

It was pretty cool to see what you could get.

I do not remember the thread, but that is about what hubby and I spend. During a 7 day visit, we will probably have 3 character breakfasts, the rest of the meals are CS, with maybe 1 sit down lunch. We have a snack each day. We don't drink and that helps a lot--alcohol at WDW is very expensive ($4.50-8.00+ per drink) so it wouldn't take long for that to eat into your $40.

wouldnt that be the dining plan? The extra $2 a day covering the bottled water/soda/granola bars brought from home?

I remember it. Wasn't it Vettechick who started the thread? I loved reading how others would spend a day and $40 at WDW.

I don't remember seeing a thread like that, but I did post on a dining plan thread how we've been able to do $30 a day total for two adults. It was 2 meals (CS), breakfast having been granola bars brought from home, and drinks either being a water bottle that we reuse or sharing a large drink between us.

What I would do with $40:

Main Street Bakery at MK: Double Chocolate Chip Muffin and cup of (free) water: $2.29 approx. $3 with tax

$37 left

lunch at Sci-Fi at MGM:

7 bean beef chili appetizer and mixed greens salad with glass of water: $10.18
with tax and tip approx.: $15

$22 left

dinner at the trails end buffet at Fort Wilderness: $17.99 with tax and tip approx. $22

Nothing left!

Two TS meals and a CS. I'm pretty good. :teeth: Too bad I don't eat that way when I actually go to WDW. It would be so much cheaper! But then I would probably do the dining plan if most of the places we liked to eat at weren't 2 TS credits.

:cheer2:

Awesome!

Yes, this is what it was like. All meals had to be purchased from a WDW owned establishment- no food from home. It was a take off on Rachael Ray's show.

Breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery Breakfast Burrito - eggs, ham and cheddar wrapped in a tortilla $3.99 and a small cup of coffee $1.79 Total: $5.78

$40.00 - $5.78 = $34.22

Lunch- Crystal Palace Character Buffet Lunch, including drink $20.99 with tax and tip Total: $26.50

$34.22- $26.50 = $7.72

Dinner- Columbia Harbor House- Half Sandwich (Anchors Aweigh- White Tuna on Multigrain Toast) and Cup of Soup (Clam Chowder) $6.69 and ice water Total: $6.69

$7.72 - $6.69 = 1.03

If I were able to use my DDE at Crystal Palace like in real life, it would bring Crystal Palace to $23.00 and I would have $4.53 left over, so I would be able to order a drink ($2.09) or an ice cream cookie sandwich ($3.49) with dinner and still keep it under $40.00 a day- with a character meal! :cheer2:

C'mon, I want to see some thinkers here. No free ice waters or pre-purchased granola bars. Put your thinking caps on. I want some complete meals. :sunny:

Here's another one:

$40

Roaring Fork at WL: Sausage biscuit with cheese and hashbrowns $4.79: milk $1.29 approx. $7 with tax

$33 left

Tony's at MK for lunch: soup $4.19, salad $4.19, soda $2.19 with tax & tip approx. $15

$18 left

Two margaritas at the stand in Mexico!!

Ok just kidding, Rainforest Cafe in AK: Rumble in the Jungle Turkey Wrap with potato chips $11.99;soda (price not listed so I'm assuming around $2.19) total approx. with tax and tip $18

7 beers at World Showcase. Suprisingly high in vitamins and minerals!

:)

pkp...like your thinking! I was thinking of 19 Krispy Kreme donuts plus some water to wash them down... The beauty is if you can eat them all at once, guaranteed, you won't want to eat the rest of the day! If you can't eat them all at once, just pack 'em up and carry them around...

Hey, I put in a character meal! :tigger: Doesn't that cancel out my one free ice water? ;)

Okay, I can do better.

Breakfast- Fountainview- Breakfast Pocket 3.99 and small coffee 1.69 Total = $5.68

$40.00 - $5.68 = $34.32

Lunch- Le Cellier - Steak Burger with Gruyere cheese $9.99 and Chocolate Raspberry Shake $3.99 = $14.84 plus tax and tip = $18.00

$34.32 - $18.00 = $16.32

Dinner- Tangeriene Cafe- Tabbouleh Mediterranean Wrap with Coucous Salad and Lentil Salad $7.95 and baklava $2.50 and a Mimosa cocktail (champagne and orange juice) $4.95 Total= $15.60

$16.32 - $15.60 = $0.72

A shake and a cocktail! And lunch at Le Cellier! :dance3:

Prices are approximate:

B - Trails End - $14 (which keeps me full for quite awhile!)
S - Margarita from Cantina- $8
D - Fish & Chips and Beer from Stand by Rose N Crown - $14
S- Mickey Mouse Bar - $4

Not the healthiest, but a good day. I need a good breakfast in the morning!

Let's see this looks like fun:

$40

Breakfast: Tusker House Breakfast - Muffins (blueberry, chocolate chip, apple cinnamon) $1.79

$40 - $1.79 = $38.21

Lunch: Flame Tree Barbecue - 1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs served with baked beans and corn on the cob - $8.49 and Bottled Water $1.25 Total = $9.74

$38.21 - $9.74 = $28.47

Dinner: Beaches and Cream - Roast Beef Sub (grilled roast beef with au jus and topped with provolone cheese, grilled onions and peppers) $8.99 and Onion Rings $3.99 and Fountain Soda Pop (Coca Cola Classic, Diet Coke, Sprite, Orange, Root Beer) $2.29 and No Way Jose (a peanut butter and hot fudge delight with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, peanut butter and chocolate morsels, whipped cream and a cherry) $7.99 Total = $23.26 + Tax and Tip = $28.42

$28.47 - $28.42 = $0.05

Nothing to drink with Breakfast, but I tend not to so I figure this should fit in, and I bought the water at lunch.

Am traveling to DW in Sept. 2006 for nine days with mom and hubby (staying at CSR) and have convinced them we can do this economically. This is a great thread, and I will look forward to everyone's responses!
