Hi all! DH and I are planning a trip to WDW over the New Year (12/27 - 1/2) and gathering all the info I can in advance! Visited DL when DS was 3. He's now 12, and DD is 6. So we're not total newbies to the Disney experience, I guess. But just about!

We're going to try to surprise the kids -- at least get them on the plane not knowing where they're going. With DD that will be easy, but DS may put it together if he sees us checking in for an Orlando flight. Not sure if he knows the location or not.

Looking forward to browsing these forums!

Welcome to the Dis. Since you are going to WDW at a mad busy time, the boards here are going to be able to provide you with a lot of imformation to make your vacation more enjoyable.

We have been to DL and WDW and there's really no comparison between the two - they are both great, but different. You need to make sure you have all of your ADRs well in advance, as the parks and resorts will be packed. You will be there during the single busiest time of the year. The parks, in particular MK, are known to close before lunch time due to being at capacity levels. Make sure you get to the parks early and have a good touring plan.

We have been to WDW many times. We did the surprise thing for our kids just this past spring break! Worked great. DD is 9 and DS is 5. They had absolutely no idea they were going on vacation! We packed in the garage the few days leading up to the trip. We secretly stashed our luggage at my parents the night before. We "picked up" my parents to "drop them" at the airport with "their" luggage. (or, at least so the kids thought!) When we got to the airport, we all got out and took the luggage into the lobby, then we scooped up the kids and told my parents bye! They were looking at us like we had lost our minds! DD was saying "Are you serious? Don't joke with me!" Too funny... We were even able to keep it a secret through check-in, security, at the gate, AND on the plane. For some reason DD thought she heard someone say something about Vermont, so that is where she thought we were going. They did not realize we were going to WDW until we were in our rental car and drove through the entrance gates. Of course, we got it on film! This is one Disney vacation we will remember for a long time! We had a blast!

You will have an amazing time. I'm new to disboards but not to Disney. An employee at Disney once told me that when you walk into Disney... you are 13 yrs old again. I think it is more like 10 yrs old. Have fun...I KNOW you will.:cool1:
