Ok Girls, put your thinking caps back on (boy I sure am taking advantage of your ladies wealth of information, eh? lol):

For our "welcome packet" we want to include a list of Must See/Must Dos and or events that are going to be occurring while we're there. We're going in October (30th) so, I already have the International Food and Wine Fest and MNSSHP. I'm going to put a list of our favorite rides and such, but I wanted to ask for your opinions on what else is MUST SEE or MUST DO!! popcorn::

Have at it!!! You guys are the best!! (and I'm so glad all that garbage from the other day is over. Phew!)

I started to do something similar. Problem is I think everything is a must see!:)
I broke the rides down into three categories: For the Kiddies, Family Fun and Adventerous. That way people got a feel for the different attractions.

I also listed to nighttime shows at the different parks (telling them to stay away from Illuminations since we're seeing that during the dessert party).

Then I listed phone numbers for golf, richard petty driving (some of the guys wanted to do that) circque du soleil and then my favorite restaurants.

I know there's more on there so I'll check when I get home. HOpe this helps!

Definitely! Thanks for the good ideas! I saw that driving thing on the last disney special we watched on the travel channel -- I never even knew it existed!! Talk about cool!

anyone know where i can find more info on Fort Wilderness Haunted Hayrides for 08? Disney.com didn't seem to have any info.... :confused3

I gave my BM each a copy of the Zagat's Guide to Disney World, which they love because they're big planners. I did put together a list of my favorite cheap places to eat at each park, along with links for the menus. I also made a "Where you can find chicken fingers in each park" list too because my future brother in law won't eat anything but chicken fingers (and he's almost 23). Here's my list of my favorite places. I realize that other people's opinions will differ, but I hope this helps.

Also, please forgive me for not having dole whips on here, I've been to WDW over 20x and still haven't had one

Animal Kingdom
Flame Tree Barbecue
It’s all good, but I especially like the sandwiches.

Hollywood Studios
Pizza Planet
Just like the restaurant in Toy Story. I get the pizza…

Epcot
This is where the Food and Wine Festival will be.
Sunshine Seasons at the Land
Variety of different food, sorta like a buffet
Yakatori House – Japan
The udon soup is good, but the curry is awesome!
Kringla Bakeri og Café - Norway
The deserts here are great!
Boulangerie Patisserie –France
The pastries here are good and so are the ham and cheese croissants

Magic Kingdom
Enchanted Grove
Strawberry Swirl - vanilla soft serve with strawberry sherbet
Columbia Harbor House
Good New England Clam Chowder
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn
Burgers and free freshly sauteed mushrooms and toppings bar (silly reason to like it)

And most importantly:
Places to get chicken fingers at each park:
Animal Kingdom – Restarantosaurus (it’s a McDonalds)
Hollywood Studios – Rosie’s All American Café
Epcot – Electric Umbrella, Liberty Inn
Magic Kingdom – Columbia Harbor House, Cosmic Ray’s, Pinnochio’s Village Haus

We're doing a list of all our fave places, followed my little anecdotes about them from our lives. It should turn out pretty cute. And also, a list of our "Tips & Tricks" since we're ALWAYS at WDW and have both been going there since we were born. We've got all sorts of little sneaky tricks lol. And its a perfect opportunity to brag!...er...i mean Share!! lol ;)

Guess I could have actually answered the OP and posted some must sees..lol..i get a little distracted. :)

Our must sees! (and some tips!)
  • Food & Wine...a MUST MUST MUST do! (Tip: Buy the larger beer and ask for two smaller cups, more beer, less money!)
  • Soarin' (Tip: This is a MUST for fastpass)
  • The Nemo show @ Animal Kingdom (get there about 20-30 minutes early and sit in the second (or back) section, more to see inbetween the sections)
  • The Lion King Show @ AK (get there 10-20 min early, and try to sit in the "lion" section, directly across and to your right when you go in..then sit on the farthest left side (if you're looking at the stands) for the BEST views of the floats & performers! Timon may even come sit by you on his way back stage!)
  • Expedition Everest @ AK (use the Single Rider line, it is worth being split up, 5 times as fast as the regular line, and look for a guy with a silver "clicker" around his neck in the Single Rider line, ask him how many times he's ridden Everest, last count was over 2,100!)
  • Laugh Factory @ MK (watch out for "That Guy"....and participate in the "Text Your Joke" thing in the pre-show..its really neat when your joke ends up being used!)
  • Tommorowland Transit Authority (aka..the People Mover) (this is a GREAT ride to just relax! and never a line!)
  • Dole Whips (Duh!)
  • If you're 'of age', be SURE to grab a Bass or my fave, a Harp @ Rose & Crown (epcot). But don't get it outside, no no...go inside! Grab a table, a few beers, a round of fish&chips and listen to the piano man! GREAT atmosphere..could spend hours here..and have! lol
  • While you're at it, have a Grey Goose Frozen Lemon-tini in France...pair it with an amazing ham & cheese criossant and you have heaven in your hands!
  • Grab dinner at Mexico's San Angel Inn, inside...amazing atmosphere! Get the Plato Mexicano..best.
  • Catch Fantasmic! @ MGM. My favorite Disney firework show ever. Get in line about 1 hour beforehand, grab a seat in the middle of the stadium, last row (right infront of the handicapped seats). You will have the best view, won't get wet, and are one of the first to get out when the show is over. DO NOT get there late!! Trust me on this one, get there early.
  • If you're brave, excited, and just don't want to go to bed, check the time of Wishes @ MK after Fantasmic!. Grab a bus to Contemporary Resort, then RUN down the walkway to MK, past the buses, into the entrance, then run up above to the train station deck. Grab a spot just at the top of the stairs (not under the canopy) and get ready for one of the best views of Wishes ever! 2 firework shows in one night..amazing..and it CAN be done!
  • If you have the $ and the desire, grab some drinks and appetizers @ California Grill, then stick around for Wishes, watch it out on the deck. They pipe in the music...I have been known to cry in this spot.
  • Lights!Motors!Action! @ MGM (sorry..it will ALWAYS be MGM to me lol) is awesome! Get a fastpass.
  • Don't skip the backlot tour..its cute, its fun, and catastrophy canyon is really fun! (put a family member you don't like too much on the LEFT side of the tram! Trust me ;) )
  • Cirque...an amazing show...always a must...always
  • Craving some cuban food? Bongos has amazing plantains, AND sangria!! (DTD) (Tip: Grab a seat at the bar while you're waiting for your table and have them whip you up a fresh mojito with any fruit you desire!)
  • TestTrack @ Epcot....(Tip: Ride the single rider line...save an hour AND probably end up in the same car anyways! DF and I have done this at least 5 times and have NEVER been seperated! Took us 5 minutes to get on the ride when the standby line was over an hour!)
  • Rent a water sprite from GF! Lots of fun (Tip: Two people make the boat go slower, put one person in each..or an adult and a little kid. AP & DVC get discounts here)
  • Go mini golfing!!! The Fantasia course is a lot of fun!!
  • Hang out at the contemporary resort....awesome interior. For that matter...go Resort hopping! Grab a snack/dessert at each one! Tons of fun and a cheap way to fill a day! :)
  • Collect Pressed Pennies! I went to DLR & CA and all I brought home was pressed pennies...the BEST and CHEAPEST souvenirs!

Hope some of this helps! :)

  • Hi, where do you go once you have gone through the entrance? I can't picture this - all I can think of is the monorail outside. We haven't done MK much (I know, I'll get flamed for that) and we plan to change that on the next trip.

    Thanks

I won't flame you :goodvibes Its ok, Epcot is actually our fave park, not MK. (putting my flame protection up now)

However, to get to the spot im referring to, once you give your ticket to the machine, and you're looking at train station dead infront of you, go in the right side, under the train tracks. Then, immediately after you come out from the passageway, look to your left, there should be a set of stairs. At the top of those stairs is an observation deck area. Thats the area I'm talking about. But don't stand under the covering up there for the fireworks, you'll miss all the ones high in the sky. Stand just at the top of the stairway, leaning on the railing :)
